I truly hope that you understand there is no russophobia. Literally zero. If you want to understand why Poland dislikes Russia, read the history of your two countries. Especially the time during WW2 and after. It is the same reason that all the old Soviet Union bloc countries hate Russia. It has zero to do with the west. Ask a former East German about how they feel about Russia. Americans don't hate Russians. We can't go along with the Russian government's attempts to re-establish the old Soviet Union. They are separate countries and deserve to be in control of their lives and lands. We also hate the Chinese government for what they are doing to Tibet, Hong Kong, and the Uighurs. And the way they treat their people. There were a lot of people here who were against the gulf wars. We protested the war a lot. We didn't get imprisoned. We trust the inhabitants of other countries to choose whatever is best for them. But when the government imprisons and kill people who express their beliefs, we cannot abide that. America isn't perfect, but our system is designed to push us in the direction of a better way. A system that allows everyone to express their own beliefs. Without the possibility of incarceration or death.

My Russian stepdaughter married a Polish guy and lives in Poland now. Her quality of life is vastly better in Poland than it was in Russia. Her Polish husband treats her 2 kids from her prior marriage as if they are his own. She is employed and in her free time, she helps Ukrainian refugees. Her twin in Russia supports Putin and the war. It has created a division in the family, I doubt can be healed. Watching your interviews I am endlessly amazed at the ridiculous Russian beliefs about the war and the west; the war was started by the West, the West covets Russia's resources, and Russians seem to be completely clueless about why nations they occupied and oppressed don't like Russians.

All nations between Moscow and Berlin should work together (as separate nations but also a single team) because none of these countries is capable of matching Russia or Germany alone (not to mention how outmatched we all are when these two cooperate). As Ukraine and Poland are both the biggest and most populous countries in this region, they bear the biggest responsibility of becoming the co-leaders of a sort of a coalition of countries between the Baltic and the Black Sea, so that all those states may prosper and become more interconnected with each other and the rest of Europe and even smaller countries like Estonia and Lithuania may enjoy the freedom to be independent from the yoke of great powers such as Germany or Russia. Also, I highly recommend watching this video, which advocates for a stronger grassroots cooperation between our citizens: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fK5k2K5vl7ysorA.html

The whole area from Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine and Poland and several ajoining areas have been in all sorts of turmoil on and off for several hundreds of years. I have been reading up on it, but it is extremely complicated I have to say. But I have to admit we didn't get it at school either (I am now a pensioner). Well...

Super important Polish context: We used to hate Ukrainians for Volyn tragedy and similar genocides. My grandma (born 1921) barely survived a genocide in Borownica. Her uncle got killed by a steel rot penetrating his skull as she was fleeing the village with her 3yo daughter. Her daughter, Urszula, is still alive and well, and is now a great-great-grandmother. Now, we and Ukraine people are friends, and we care about each other. Time heals and we've been working towards a future for many years. Than again, unlike Russia, Ukraine is not threatening us with nuclear weapons. Being against imperialism of any kind is not Russophobia, it's being a decent human being.

I am from Poland and I have many Russian friends. However, there are a few problems with our relationship: 1. History - in Russia they teach a completely different history of my Poland than we know it in Poland, and as a sober-minded historian, I believe that it was in Russia that the history of the world was adapted to its own needs. for example, September 17, 1939 is the date of coming with fraternal help, for Poles it is the fulfillment of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and the joint partition of Poland. And after 1945, no one in Poland was happy that the Red Army stayed in Poland permanently and that Poles had no say in politics. 45 years of stealing, the Russians give an example that they gave Poland the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, but it was built from local materials, by local hands. Not a single brick for this building came from the USSR. in general, this gift looked like that you gave us plans and indicated where we should build it. But from your perspective, everything looks crystal clear. 2. Russians look at the world with superiority, convinced that they have a soul and everyone wants to steal their resources. take your fairy tales about the soul for yourself, all Slavs have it, probably even all people, yours is no better in anything. your resources? The world is just showing that you can do without them, and you sell them for half free so that someone would buy, where is your honor? 3. Unlike other Europeans, Russians do not like to get involved in politics. The rest more or less controls their politicians, the parties in power change, and in Russia, as under the Tsar, one person rules completely without responsibility. 4. The belief that NATO is aiming for a confrontation with Russia and is deliberately getting closer, and the truth is that whoever has been in the Russian sphere of influence once will sign a contract with the devil so as not to be there again (by the way, Russia is attractive to the world) and NATO seems to be a very reasonable choice for Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, etc. and now the Ukrainians wanted to be among the civilized countries. Sorry russians no offense you guys are great people but russia as a state sucks. no sane person with a choice will choose Russia.

    1. Yes. Do you know what's the difference between the past and history? 'The past' is completed and can never be changed, but 'history' is the ongoing discussion of trying to explain the past and is open to change and revision. Poland has its own version of the past. But Russia might not agree with Polish version, we have every right to it. 2. This is partially true. The battle for Arctic is underway. Because of the climate change. 3. Incorrect. I am a fan of political realism. It completely disregards political system, whether country has democracy or autocracy or communism or fascism - doesn't matter. It focuses on the idea of power. While foreigners are mostly promotimg their liberal ideas. 4. Yes, the NATO is aiming for a confrontation with Russia. Because it continues to expand at our doorstep. Logic of NATO - Russia is weak, so we'll simply ignore their concerns, they will swallow it. What they can do? We see NATO as an existential threat. Because arctic ice is melting. We plan to be involved in arctic exploration, it might potentially lead to a conflict. Russia against 31 countries.

@@user-yj7um6hv1d You should consider the possibility that Russia is the one with its own version of the past. After all, other countries shared the same past, only Russia tells it differently. You should also consider that NATO didn’t exist 80 years ago. It was created precisely as a defense pact against USSR expansion. It exists as a joint military defense force and as such it never look for conflict with any other nation. NATO growth happens exclusively by countries wanting to join in for mutual protection. From countries that don’t want to suffer what Ukraine is going through. We can never trust information from autocracies. Never! All information is distorted to ensure the power stays in the hands of their rulers. You’re just another victim of the propaganda.

You write that history in Russia is not presented objectively . But here 's what Churchill said about the 1939 non - aggression treaty between Russia and Germany : It is impossible to say to whom he (the Molotov Ribbentrop Pact) inspired more disgust - Hitler or Stalin. Both were aware that this could only be a temporary measure dictated by circumstances. The antagonism between the two empires and systems was deadly. Stalin no doubt thought that Hitler would be a less dangerous enemy for Russia after a year of war against the Western powers. Hitler followed his method "one by one". The fact that such an agreement turned out to be possible marks the depth of the failure of British and French politics and diplomacy over several years. In favor of the Soviets, it must be said that it was vital for the Soviet Union to push the initial positions of the German armies as far west as possible so that the Russians would have time and could gather forces from all over their colossal empire. The catastrophes suffered by their armies in 1914, when they rushed to attack the Germans, before they had finished mobilization, were imprinted in the minds of the Russians with a hot iron. And now their borders were much further east than during the first war. They needed to occupy the Baltic States and most of Poland by force or deception before they were attacked. If their policy was coldly calculating, it was also highly realistic at that moment. And you are wrong , write that everyone is fleeing from Russia , if we talk about the state level , the attitude of many Eastern European states in the orbit of US policy is not complimentary to Russia , but if we go to the personal level , then only this year about 2 million applications were received from people from European countries to the Russian embassies about arrival in Russia.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, we Poles rejoiced that the Russians would finally be free. We were worried when there was an economic crisis in Russia. We believed that the fall of the Soviet Union was a new beginning in Polish-Russian relations. We believed that it would now be possible to live in friendship. But it turned out that imperialism is deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of Russians. It doesn't matter whether the Czar rules, whether the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union rules, or whether the President rules, in Russia there is no democracy, no respect for human rights, no desire for peaceful coexistence with the rest of the world. Force and fear rule in Russia. It is not bad governance that terrorizes Russians. Brutal rule in Russia is an emanation of the Russian mentality, which Russians do not want to get rid of. It must take decades or even hundreds more years before Russians mature enough to live in peace with the rest of the world.

I'm Italian and I've had the pleasure of visiting Poland many times - with everything I've heard and seen thanks to the friends I've made there, it's not surprising at all why so many people are distrustful towards Russia (or rather, its government). My own country shamefully had a part in the suffering that Poland had to indure, and I would not be shocked in the least if people held similar views towards it. As others have said, it seems straight up insulting to suggest there's some kind of "russophobia" - if anything they're completely reasonable viewpoints that are 100% warranted, *especially* with everything that happened in the last decade. I'm sure many (if not most) Russians think the same. I just hope this insanity will end soon. Ukraine deserves to be whole and at peace, and Russia deserves to be the master of its own destiny, instead of being dragged along by a single person.

After annexation of Crimea and especially after starting war in 2022, I follow different channels listening to interviews with common people in Russia. What I on average hear is exceptionally not pleasing and reveals imperialism, contempt for weaker, indifference to fate of their victims and rotten morality.
