Why I needed Bocchi The Rock - Anime Review CHC Off-Script

Ойын-сауық

Been a rough month for me, recently I lost my youngest brother who a long time ago was the drummer for my band.
In that time of grief Bocchi reminded me what it was like to be in a band and the good times we had together. It pushed me to reconnecting with my old friends and connecting this people I though I would not see again.
This is an anime that means a lot to me, and while it's not flawless it's the anime I needed the most. Funny. exciting, relatable, and with of course excellent music Bocchi the Rock is anime that I needed and you might to.
This video is dedicated to my brother George, and to all the amazing people who have supported me in these times. I appreciate you all. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you for your time.

Music-oriented animation is going above and beyond these days to properly animate and represent music performances, and it's great to watch. One of my many musical regrets is having never gotten to play in an ensemble. It requires you to feel not only your music, but also to feel everyone else's performances. And that's more difficult than non-musicians realize.

Oof my condolences. What you said echoed what almost all who finished ep12 said in social media, twitter, etc. They generally only said two things: 1. "Thank you. Grateful for anime staff. Thank you for making this anime. Thank you for wonderful show. Etc" 2. Where is season 2?

Good video. I find it funny the father not seeing his face. having a main male in the show would cause drama and Love interests wouldn't be the same kind of show. But to each their own. I didint like beck to much drama. I can't wait for the second season of bocchi as well😊.

Honestly, Bocchi's dad got a LOT more screentime in the anime compared to the manga He basically disappears after giving Bocchi his guitar, and then shows up to give Bocchi her KZread money before disappearing _again._ In the most recent chapter I've read in the manga, Bocchi, her mom, and her sister are eating together while her mom spews out modern slang. It's super weird because the current arc was a band tournament, and yet a huge amount of focus is put on Bocchi's mom failing to look like a high schooler while walking around Tokyo telling people to listen to Kessoku Band. Bocchi finds out because Kita reports that she's seen numerous mentions on Twitter about a "Kessoku obsessed auntie cosplaying as a high schooler." And yet nothing about Dad, which is sad. Well, you've just opened my eyes to a probable reason why I've rarely watched CGDCT anime. Bocchi and GuP are the only two I can think of, unless Nichijou counts, but there are lots of male characters in it... Huh.

@@ColdComplaints I did! And yeah, Bocchi's family didn't even show up for the school festival concert, only Manager and Hiroi, the drunk bassist. Heck, Bocchi's parents weren't around for the t-shirt design session either, only Futari and Jimihen were. On the other hand, the anime has been hiding Ryo's parents from us. In the manga, they're overwhelmingly doting towards Ryo, to the point where they want to _shut down the hospital they run, and blast Kessoku Band's music over the speakers of a campaign car.¹_ Ryo had to talk them down to "only" playing their music over the muzak system in the hospital, which makes Kita wonder if their music is appropriate for such a setting. Speaking of, we never see Kita's parents, and Nijika's are dead (mom) and AWOL (dad). ¹A campaign car is one that has speakers on the roof. If you've ever seen _Back to the Future,_ you've seen one.

On the topic of the band being all girs - it doesnt seem like that much out of the ordinary in japan. Seems like they have a number of underground band that are all girls some of which perform in the same live house that bocchi is set. - which to say bocchi increase my music library and im searching for more jbands XD. It's also a plus the mangaka is womam, yeah it maybe targeted to specific demographic but most of this shows are just kinda healing. I like them and im not the target of it. OTH manga has more narrative structure than your typical 4koma to the point I can see where they start and end the next seasons [if there are any] . The author definitely put arcs and set up goals from the start of each narrative arch.

well about the all-female lineup. It's actually come from trying to appeal to the woman/young girl demographic the idea is less male, which means less unnecessary conflict, especially violence. You can see there's also less human conflict drama for Bocchi similar how in shonen and sports, where it has a lot of male casts, which excites more conflict and more competitiveness This ofc can create problems because I really want to know Bocchi's dad's background too. Like, how the fck does he has a very expensive guitar??? It does come to a weird side where for example, in the Idols genre any contact with a male would create chaos among the fans Most of the time, if the SoL show has mixed gender, it's for romantic purposes. The only other Slice of life anime that has a full line up boys that I know is probably Kimi to Boku Or comedy anime like Danshi Koukousei We do need more cute(?) guys doing cute things that isnt fujo bait Btw Seika's band (Nijika's big sister) is a mixed band with males with faces, 1 guy even has a girlfriend, yeah I know, shocking But there's no in-depth story related to the male bandmate yet, well at least from the available translated chapters

I’m very interested to learn more about the older characters and other bands in the series as well. Like the scene where Bocchi goes to Kikuri’s band was great but I want more of that. As for cute girls who do cute things anime I rarely see large female audiences for them. Which I think is backed up by things like the K-ON manga being published in seinen magazines. The general thing I’ve heard is lot of guys prefer chill cute anime sometimes especially with how stressful Japanese work life is. And most girls I know typically go more for anime like Free! or SK8 the infinity is a pretty good pretty boys doing stuff anime

Funny thing. In Danshi Koukousei, female characters take backseat. They either have no name (just nickname) or have no faces.

@@ColdComplaints sorry. I'm not being clear, but the format was INITIALLY for female audiences like mahou shoujo genre. I'm talking back to the 80s and 90s here. But now K-on, Bocchi, and New-Game are under Kirara Magazine which is for seinen (adult males). Which surprisingly has a lot of female audiences (and authors) too. well at least in Japan

I think a big reason why all the characters are girls is due to the author being a girl. Also the dad is a character in the manga he is a lot of fun after the anime parts.

I have not found that the gender of the mangaka really effects that. Lot of these kind of series, K-ON being an example are created by men. And at large the genre is mainly targeting older men, which is why a lot of these kind of manga turn up on senien magazines.

I feel like I never enjoyed music animes as much as the others hyped it up. Bocchi initially gave me K-On vibes, which had me hesitating a little bit, but man... did I not regret watching this show. It was absolutely absurd the way how the story communicated so much with the audience.

Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. And sorry about your brother. This isn't a criticism or dig or anything, just something I was thinking about watching the video, but yeah, part of it is definitely to appeal to the audience, totally agree, but also I don't think guys really totally get how big a part of women's lives other women are. A average girl's friend group is probably gonna be mostly other girls, same with women. It's the same with guys. Most of an average guy's friends, acquaintances, fellow band members, are gonna be guys. That's why a show about a girl having mostly other girls and women as characters doesn't seem that odd to me. Not unusual for a high school girl to be part of an all girl band. If Nijika's sister owns Starry it's not unbelievable that she'd hire friends or acquaintances as staff and them being other women. Not unbelievable that women in the music scene would know and be friends with women in other bands, etc. And the show does start to include male characters once it pushes out past this not entirely unbelievable core group of girls and women, like the manager of the other live house, and other bands shown. Got to admit though, it is odd not giving the dad a face, not sure where they were going with that, but they did give him as much of a character as the mom. Anyway, glad the show helped with a rough time. It definitely is a good one. Thanks again for the video.

The all girl is due to it genre type (cgdct). Similar to magical girls or like Shonen, the majority of them are boys, and even there's girls in it, most of them is useless.
