Just as Ryo said "It might not connect with too many people, but those it does, it'll hit deeply." BTR probably hit Garnt than Garnt expected it even though he is not a fan of SOL and CGDCT.

Dude if they ever adapt the next season it will be MUCH more relatable. The first season still has that “highschoolers fun band” aura but the next arc you can actually say that Kessoku Band is an actual indie band It’s surprisingly ambitious for a 4-koma series about band with cute girls

Bocchi the Rock just casually comes out in one of the most hype seasons anime have ever seen with shows like Bleach:TYBW, CSM, Spy x Family Part 2, Mob Psycho 100 ss3, Golden Kamuy 4th season. And Bocchi literally crushes it, both popularity and quality, both in Japan and overseas. A storm nobody expected and cared about in the first place is the one that hit hardest.

If the team is the same, I don't have any worry at all. Like Kerorira for example, he's the one reason we have the adaptation in the first place, and he did the character designs and the majority of the animation, I believe.
To me, 《bocchi the rock》 is S tier not because of its relatability, but its direction and passion the crew behind the show gives it. Try reading the manga, you will find out how incredibly bare bone and simple it is, no offense to the mangaka. It is a 4-koma style of manga, with each segment tells a different story. Yet the anime transforms that source of material into something amazing. Let's compare 《Senryuu Shoujo》to 《Bocchi the Rock》. Both are 4-koma manga and have gotten their anime adaptation with the same time length. 《Senryuu Shoujo》anime follows closely to the original material, barely changes anything, which is nice and respectful toward the mangaka. However, because of this, the staff has no way other than to slow the pace of the overall anime, which imo is deadly to the 4-koma style and overall anime experience, making it boring to watch and essentially forcing viewers to skip and eventually stop watching. I immediately got bored after the first 10 minutes in and couldn't be bothered to continue on. Meanwhile, with 《Bocchi the Rock》, the staff, instead of just using the base material, adds in their own taste of improvisation and creativity. For example, in the 《House visit》episode, the entire Bocchi's parents interaction is completely original to the anime, which makes it very enjoyable and properly paced instead of slowing it down in order to complete the time requirement. Not only that, there are parts where the whole team actually goes out and take pictures and films in real life to add to the anime, making it much more engaging and entertaining to watch. Furthermore, they also go all out to actually put in and continuously alternate multiple art styles, which is incredibly rare for anime nowadays, which allows for various types of emotions and situations while being fun and enjoyable. Overall, I would say 《Bocchi the Rock》is an incredible surprise for this season, and definitely deserves S-tier and every slice of life, comedy style anime should take this as a prime example of how to make an anime adaptation good and entertaining.

I agree with you but I already see the shadows of a fantastic season in the final episode of Bocchi. Kita said she wanted to be someone who could closely support Bocchi. Bocchi never really had her solo. Bocchi bought a new guitar and NEVER played it. Ryo suggesting to play the guitar but Nijika telling Bocchi to save playing it for tomorrow. There was just so much foreshadowing in that episode that I thought they were pulling our legs and there was gonna be a 13th episode.

Looking at how Bofuri S2 is doing, I'm getting nervous as well. Bofuri didn't get that much of praise compared to BTR yet somehow people behind it butchered its third episode What I'm trying to say is that once the studio showed love and passion onto this one project and people do love it, the burden its sequel carries is going to be heavy since people would expect them to deliver it on the same level they initially did

The biggest and deciding difference between K-ON an Bocchi The Rock is the setting. K-ON takes place in a highschool because they are in a music club, while Kessoku Band in Bocchi The Rock is a legit band so thats why they spend their time more in the livehouse. Thats why some people enjoy K-ON more than Bocchi and why some people enjoy Bocchi more thay K-ON. The friendship between the cast is the most important thing in K-ON, thats why it takes place in highschool, while the band and music is the centerpiece in Bocchi The Rock, shown by their hangout place; a livehouse. For someone who wants an anime that really focuses on the music and band aspect, they might enjoy Bocchi The Rock more. For someone who wants a cute and relaxing slice-of-life anime where the music takes second place, K-ON is probably their choice. I hope Bocchi gets a second and third season, and i wish it goes with a bang like K-ON. Both are masterpieces of anime.

This anime literally inspired me to pick up my bass guitar again and learn "Guitar, loneliness and Blue Planet"
That Ryo quote was immediately iconic, the second I heard that I was like, woah that cuts deep and right through all the nonsense and is so fundamentally true for all aspects of artistry that I love how it puts focus on the art AND the artist and how critically intertwined they are and how that genuine nature will be not only seen but respected by those who need it the most. It brings me such joy that other people are enjoy Bocchi the Rock, it feels good to have other people love the things you love.
I remember Gigguk saying something among the lines "CSM is the one who received so much love that no money can buy" from his seasonal video, but as it turned out, Bocchi adaptation got put so much love into it that all of the millionaires on this world would not be able to afford.
I think not many people would agree with me, but all four main Kessoku girls are kinda relatable in a way. And yes, not just Bocchi. -> Kita, despite being a social girl who can easily connect to people, and be able to sing in front of crowds, still felt like she didn't contribute much. Hell, even Nijika and Ryou also felt the same. They need to improve not just individually, but also as a team. -> Nerds would relate to the urge to explain facts that interested them the way Ryou did 😂🤣 -> People who had shy introverted friend/s would relate to how the rest of Kessoku girls treated Bocchi. Anyone can relate with any of these girls. Edit : Damn, the majority of the comment section actually agreed with me 😂🤣

The interesting thing is, Kita doesn't look like it at first, but she is the most similar to Bocchi in a sense, she does have her own type of social anxiety, but the way she faces things is by throwing and forcing herself to situations, she does half assing at times and she knows it, which is also a neat detail how, among the band, both of these two are in the same year and same school, compared to Ryo and Nijika who are one year older and different school, and she keeps messing up at times, buying the wrong instrument, episode 10, and other times more, Kita extrovert side is the kind of having many friends but not close enough, and in Bocchi she has someone that truly is close to her and sticks with her, which makes their dynamic so fun and wholesome Nijika is also a different type, she is a more calm extrovert but she also knows how to keep her distance and take time for herself, we even see it when everyone going about their holidays, she spent most of it in the clubhouse or at home working, while Ryo is the most introvert of them and shows how a healthy introversion is, it's not something bad, it's just a way she is, where she gets more outspoken or crazy when it comes to things she likes, the show really makes a good way to show us this with no need to giving us a text wall about it, and develops them further as it goes
Bocchi really connects with me as a former shut in, the way she acts while having a grandiose yet shallow dream of fame and fortune really touched me in a personal level and the interpretation of her anxiety with the silly animation couldn't be more relatable.
K-on did not cover the processes and perils of forming and playing with a band, it's a show that shows school life through forming a band but not about the band that much outside of the songs. Bocchi really captures what all band wannabes (including yours truly) had to go through, all the while showing the real personalities of each band members. For that Garnt's right this show is fuckin top tier AAA type slice of life, coming of age band anime like how Blue Period is with art.
This show ngl hits hard, I remember watching a scene in restaurant where two salarymen talk about how life is cruel to them and I'm sitting there like damn bro.... I thought I was watching a fun comedy, this show has no business to hit this hard
Slice of Life surprised me twice this year, and they're even related. Slow Loop was the winter show that was much more than just cute girls fishing, but became an introspective series about family. Bocchi was one of the ultimate expressions of anime as a medium and a wonderful introvert music series. And they're both in the same series of magazines and feature quick cameos in each series (Kessoku Band playing in a show in Slow Loop and the main characters from Slow Loop on the cellphone charms of SICK HACK's guitarist).

i used to be a Shounen Junkie once upon a time. looked down on slice of life. i was also a dub only thinking all jp dubs were high pitched voices that didn't fit the character (thank japanese goku for that misunderstanding) but ironically it was Deltora Quest's adaption (terrible adaption to be honest but i watched it because it was my favorite book series) season 1 was dubbed but season 2 was only available in sub. i couldn't handle not knowing so i bit the bullet, jumped in, and to my surprise the voices weren't like i imagined them to be. they fit the characters and there was no out of character high pitched voices. thus it took a shitty anime adaption that i will never watch again to cure my dub only misunderstanding. this opened me up to enjoying subbed anime as well...Buuuuuut i was still a Shounen Junkie so it was limited to action packed fight anime. then i found the dubbed version of the original Kino's Journey. it had fight scenes that satisfied my Shounen Junkie urges but it also had philosophical questions and got my brain thinking, it was down to earth and it opened my eyes to the fact that i had been ignorant to. SoL anime DOES have story its just not your conventional kind. its varied in the ways it conveys its story but they all tell a story. this all was long ago. if you are still here the point is i know that mindset of ACTION FLASHY FIGHTS GOOD no flashy fights bad. i pity those still stuck with that mindset. i don't look down on all Shounen (just the ones i don't like after having tried them.) like a SoL puritan i enjoy a good Shounen anime just like i always have. but i also enjoy and don't shun the SoL genre like a Shounen Junkie. i am just an anime fan. sub or dub war i belong to neither side and find the war meaningless. genre, studio, the VA, none of that will prevent me from pursuing an interesting summery. i enjoy what i enjoy. give me a summery and if i find it interesting i will give the first episode a watch if it catches me i will gladly continue if not i will still give it 2 more chances to do so before i quit. "that's how the anime fan do"
I feel that take on K-ON a lot, I tried the anime but really couldnt connect to it whatsoever despite all the praise it got, still a very good anime on his own but it just wasn't for me unfortunately. But then I thought giving this one a try and dear lord I was not disappointed. The art direction, the funny moments, the emotional moments, the relatable moments everything just clicked, this anime ticked all the boxes. Absolute banger
My favourite anime of this season and fav SOL of the year goes to!: 6:14 Boki The Rock

As someone who just saw bocchi the rock and went "I'm bored imma watch this" from the first episode before btr even went mainstream, makes me feel a bit proud. ;w;
I fkin agree with the fact that bocchi did stufff that k-on couldnt do, that's why the show hit so hard even for a diehard k-on fan
For your editing to hide the other rated shows, you are godly 10/10 clipper
I am so happy to see that Garnt enjoyed this show as much as a lot of people. It truly is such an expected show to have come out in the midst of all the other huge titles this season. I’m happy to see this show get the praise it deserves.
I literally watched Bocchi The Rock mid-way watching this. And after not watching anime for a year, I binged all episodes in one day and now I feel empty! S tier and godlike anime.
As someone who loves progressive rock but is not willing to talk about the music with others because the music sounds so different to what everyone else seems to listen to on the internet, this IMO is the greatest anime I've ever seen. Thanks to this I even had the courage to show one of my friends my favourite album "Remember the Future" by Nektar.
Another thing that boosted the show is because of how awesome the VA's performed and connected with one another
Misclicked it thinking I clicked Bleach and just tried it out and ended up finishing the whole season, it's so entertaining to watch
I went into Bocchi this morning, expecting a not that funny moe anime, and I can say that i found DIAMONDS. Its funny, its cool, its cute and it is touching, and it touches you on another level, as a man that have so much of my life reliant on music, this anime touched me in a ASTRAL level, episode 8 is literally PEAK, the way Hitori breaks the silence on the show and motivates the rest of the band to go on is beautiful 12/10 would watch again and again
bocchi wins yet again
Amazing anime... Unexpected as f**k. I absolutely love it.
It sorta surprised me as well how good it is. Just watched it on a whim and got caught up in it.
Bocchi The God
Even Pikamee stopped watching Bocchi not because it is not good. But it is too real

It might not connect with to many people but those it does it'll hit deeply
Same. I was so hyped up for Chainsaw man since they announced it last year only for a random SOL anime to overshadow it in whatever I'm looking forward to each week. CSM is great but bocchi the rock was just insanely amazing. Reminded me of nichijou where animators are just so random and free

I felt that Nichijou craziness as well. Brilliant, brilliant shows, these two. Way up high on my Mt. Olympus of favorite shows.
CGDCT is just the final stage of growth of anime viewers. Gigguk is just slowly getting there. and well, Bocchi did come in the right time for a lot of people, and doing the right things to slowly pull those new mobs of anime watchers there. somebody should ask him to rewatch K-On! some tme after Bocchi Season 2 is done.
calling it comedy of the year in the same year kaguya sama came out is high praise.... Imma going to watch this and summer time render next, so I'm hoping it lives up to that hype
Bocchi is also pretty accurate to what it’s like trying to make it in the indie music scene. It’s hard and draining and generally speaking it won’t work out(speaking from experience of being in 3 bands where it didn’t work out). It’s nice to see a music anime that really dives into that aspect.
#BocchiSweep
i had an awkward high school life and i joined a band after high school and Bocchi hits it in all criteria in that part of my life and especifically on my band life..Ticket Quoatas, Friends and acquiatances has nothing have a clue what ur doing, and Savant senpai intrumentalists that shatters your soul and motivation of why you picking up the instrument (those Yngwie, Petrucci moments, if your a shred guy you get what i mean).. it hurts lol
As someone who loves and adores K-On, Garnt's take makes sense. K-On! and Bocchi are completely different beasts and their similarities are surface level. I get why so many people who don't like K-On love Bocchi and I'm happy it became a surprise hit for so many
Other anime that I watched about introverted characters I wasn't able to connect to them the same way I did with bocchi the rock, it's differently an S tier 👏
Watched the episode 8 performance 30 times in a row. It really is that good of a show. SSSS tier
Slice of Life is the perfect medium to do really expressive shit to really make a series stand out. Its a damn shame so many just resort to "Here's some High schoolers doing basic Anime troupes but with small twists". I used to like the genre but onced I realized most of them are just some variation of K-on with or without the band I stopped until Bocchi came out
The difference between K-On and Bocchi The Rock is while both have cute girls doing cute things moments, Bocchi The Rock's characters had actual goals and you can see their progress throughout the season from recruiting Bocchi, making songs, auditioning, and performing. The animation variety just increased the value of the show more and the comedic effect. Bocchi as a protagonist worked really well where at first, she's just a girl getting pulled along the story but slowly trying to develop herself along the way. And let's not forget the likeable members of the Kessoku band. They're not just one-dimensional characters to fill the typical band trope, they have personalities and charm of their own.
Bruh, I was about to mald if he kept Bocchi in the mid tiers lol. I'm so glad that Garnt placed it in the "S" tier. It's probably one of the best slice-of-life anime I've ever seen. As much as I *_love_* "K-ON," I can kinda understand why Garnt didn't really like it. Unlike Bocchi, which focuses on an actual band who has goals that they *_want_* to accomplish, "K-ON" was pretty much the epidimy of "cute girls doing cute things." And because Yui and co were in an after school club and were not as productive as the girls in "Bocchi the Rock," you can't really connect with it as much. Another thing I loved about "Bocchi the Rock" was the way that it tackled social anxiety through the use of over-the-top animations. Not only is it visually appealing, but it hits you harder than most other anime that had already tackled similar topics. Even the writing got a laugh out of me a few times. Especially whenever Ryo is on screen. And do I even have to mention the *amazing* music lol?
I've been glad he put on B tier when he tell us he not fan of SoL genre, when he put Bocchi the rock S tier. Damn, huge respect
I feel the same way this is the fucking best anime of slice of live
I cried a lot watching bocchi. It has become my favourite of all.
Well I think to put it simply, K-ON is a cute girl doing cute things with band as its niche Meanwhile, Bocchi is a band series with cute girl doing cute things as its niche Pretty similar, different focus

Bocchi the Rock isn't your ordinary CGDCT slice of life anime. It's a masterpiece. A roller coaster of emotions, descended from heaven to show us ordinary folks the wonders of not just rock, but BOCCHI THE ROCK. One can not claim to have come to realize the true value of this masterpiece without the divine devotion I possess. I wake up every morning looking forward to watching Bocchi's astounding guitar solo for the 1472th time. Every day at work I feast my ears on the lovely musics of Kessoku Band, hitting my table furiously as I imagine myself playing the drums for Bocchi as she slaughters the audience with her bewildering guitar riff. Every night I cry myself to bed knowing Bocchi will never suffocate me to death with her humongulous badonkers. It makes me feel the cruelty of this world I live in all the way to my core. But despite all my suffering, it's Bocchi's awkward smile that gets me through each day, telling me, TATAKAE. This is why Bocchi the Rock means the world to me. I BREATHE Bocchi the Rock. I EAT Bocchi the Rock. I LIVE FOR Bocchi the Rock. Bocchi the Rock isn't your ordinary CGDCT slice of life anime. It's a masterpiece.
Watching Bocchi brought me back to watching Nichijou which brought me a tear to my eye from the over the top comedy and animation that it uses!

I generally dislike SOL. But I would say nichijou is maybe my all time favorite anime. And this show did such a great job scratching that itch.
I am so glad Bocchi is getting the love it deserves. I thought it would fly under the radar but it really started getting popular, especially towards the end of the season.
Chillz for Bocchi.. literally not on my radar until I saw the ratings ratings and not saw Bleach and Chainsaw Man on top that I had to check it out and I'm glad I checked it out
Everyone on stream was waiting for this moment. We were so nervous that BTR was gonna be put into lower tiers but boy oh boy bocchi getting S tier made my entire year
Love the censoring and 100% deserved to be potentially the best anime of the year
Just finished it. Regardless how you rate bocchi the rock. You can't deny that is so wholesome

Redemption for its mistreatment in seasonal video
Yep, Bocchi the Rock is on a different level. Sure, eventually CSM will make me cry because of certain events that happen in the story, but that's probably season 2 if not 3. Yeah, this season Mob made me cry when I thought Dimple was gone, but nothing has resonated with me like Bocchi the Rock since I watched TTGL and learned to love humanity. She literally me fr fr, only she's actually better. Yeah, the manic depressive social outcast that is Bocchi made more progress in 12 episodes than I have in over half a decade. And that's not even mentioning how SICK "That Band" is for a song, I've unironically watched that part over ten times and I finished the anime a week ago.
Currently in my Post Bocchi depression.
4:50 Nah, as someone who loved K-On, that is a totally fair take.
This has convinced me to start watching it today. Thanks for the upload!! The censoring helped a lot. :)
YEEEEAAAH BABY THATS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR
Bocchi makes us realize that our introvert life is not a tragedy, it's a comedy xD
As someone who only watched a few anime shows and they were all pretty dark, this show came to me by surprise. Not bc it was a splice of life but bc I thought it was going to be some kind of supernatural show. The first clip I saw of this show was when bocchi was glitching on the floor and that’s why I thought it was be in the supernatural aspect.
what a chad with the censor
the current part in the manga now, theres more music / band stuff, lesser social anxiety stuff, its still there but bocchi's journey is all about getting over it anyways!
Now everyone have a quota of 5 share so this video can reach 36bocchilion
The chat going insane with hype is the best part hahahaha
I've somewhat gotten over my introvertedness, (I'm fkin 27) but I sht you not when they showed the moment she was unable to enter Starpucks. I had severe flashbacks to my highschool complete with my classmates waiting inside asking me what I want and all I can say is "Strawberries." And they all understood what I needed.
I just watched the first ep and her anxiety hit me it was painful af...like sometimes I'm over here wanting to make friends but I can't talk to people so I wear anime clothing while watching anime slightly glancing around to see if someone would approach me since I couldn't do it so watching bocchi do all that it was literally painful it was funny but I saw myself doing that this anime reminds me of watemote
Fuck i got chills from the stare when he put her on S
Wow Its soo long that I watch an anime and been just been reading manga maybe I should try watching Bochi
bro the fandom is just as goated as the anime itself, like theyre so creative and the memes and the edits and animatics all are just so cool; gotta be one of my fav fandoms
I don’t even like anime, but i absolutely loved bocchi the rock
ngl, the cover of “rock n roll, morning light falls on you” at the end of the anime made me like it more than chainsaw man lmao. I just really like that song and didn’t expect to hear it again as an anime cover.
One of the things Bocchi the Rock does really well is actually confronting the fact that their band sucks to start with, and their character growth is getting to a place where their performances are "decent". They have potential - their band members are all fantastic individually - but they aren't used to playing together and lack the kind of confidence and energy that really makes a great band, and that's something they just have to push through and work on.
Thanks for clip
MY GOAT GIGGUK HE PULLED THROUGH
