D7200 still more than holds its own as a photography camera both in detail and dynamic range along with noise control still one of the best cameras released and one of if not the best cameras Nikon have done in terms of photography, incredible camera.

I have a D5600 and love it I was convinced I needed something newer with better specs so I spent the summer trying to figure out which camera/system I wanted to upgrade too until I found your channel! The fact thought you were shooting with yours and thrilled with it and didn’t feel the need to upgrade inspired me to just keep learning how to get the most out of my D5600 and improve my photography skills instead of getting new gear. I’m glad you went back and thanks!! Melanie

Good to see you out with the D7200 again, a camera that I was planning for a few years to move up to from the D3100 which I had for 10 years, but always found uncomfortably small to hold. Finally got the cash together last year, and no D7200 to be found, so I pushed the boat out and got the D7500, really pleased I did.

The D7200 doesn't have an optical low-pass filter. It makes sharper results than cameras that have one. I noticed at 10:00 you zooming in at the picture. You can set the OK button to zoom to 100% in one click. Just go to the playback menu settings and set the OK button function. I used this camera for ~4 years. It was definitely one for the history books.

This is motivating and a boost morale. I got the D7200 for my intermediate photography level. As time goes by more and more New generation of cameras are to our disposal. Some say the future is here. That is funny in way since it was said the same thing of some the crop and full frame cameras. Nikon is dropping 1/3 of their DSLR and felt I was left behind with all these new cameras. Felt outdated. But you just confirmed, no matter what, a camera is an instrument. Is how we us it. Yes newer ones have lots of bells and whistles. But classic still can run for your money. D7200 Is a good camera and love it. Thank you

At long last, a photographer that uses what he has and sees the merits of what is fast becoming old gear. Too many photographers, especially on KZread are too keen to move on to the newer mirrorless cameras and lenses and the manufacturers who could make their lens mounts compatible but don't. I use a Canon 5D Mk4 and I only have that because my Mk 3 went into a river and I thought about a new camera in the R5 but, I have a great camera, why spend more money upgrading just for the sake of it. Well done Henry, you have my vote.

I've got some really good A mount lenses which cost me a shilling or two and although I can buy an adaptor, it's my f2.8 16-50 which is a brilliant APS-C lens which I love but which is not fully full-frame compatible and which would be expensive to replace that is holding me back. All you hear is D7200 this, D7200 that, etc. yeah the buffer is crap on the D7100, but with the right lens, and good technique, it can still hold its own. Funny thing is, I’d almost always pick up my ole’ D300, instead of my D7100. No it can’t compare to the newer camera, but it ain’t that far off! Happy Shooting!

Can’t fault it. I have a Fuji X100s that goes everywhere with me. Fixed lens so I don’t have to invest in lenses. G'day Henry, another great video. I've been watching since just after NZ and I like your enthusiasm and the fact that you use gear the rest of us use. Having said that I have just bought a Z5 which I think is a great step up from the Nikon D7200 (which I still have). I have also added the 14-30mm F4. But I use the FTZ adaptor to use my Nikon 16-80mm F2.8-4 and other Nikon lenses - it will also work with the Tamron 10-24 with the firmware update . It works perfectly well. But I am looking for the Z 24-105mm to emerge. The Z5 has the dual SD Cards (don't need new cards), FTZ adapter, IBIS (this is a game-changer for an oldie - I may go back to a monopod!), and the Nikon IQ and ergonomics. Of course, it's a full-frame mirrorless too. I shoot heritage-listed buildings so it is great - very pleased with the set-up. The Z5 has many of the features of the M50 it would seem but affords access to your Nikon lenses. I am very interested in what you think of using the GoPro for your KZread videos during lock-down (including audio) - will you stick with it? Keep clocking those steps, Mate.

I have owned a d70 200 for almost 4 years and I absolutely love it, I honestly use it more than my D750 full frame. The only thing I've never liked about the D 7200 three rocks that it seems to be a little rough with very bright highlights and doesn't always retain highlight detail as well as some other cameras, but the dynamic range of this camera is awesome nonetheless... this camera even has more dynamic range than a Canon 5D Mark 3 full frame.

Those kinds of walks are the best. Grab a camera, get some exorcise and see what the day brings. I have a mountain of a hill behind where we live and I walk the path up and around the top. I never know what I will find and the place never fails to disappoint. Millions of photographic possibilities, plus I get a couple of miles in every day. I find your channel to be the most down to earth and easy to watch and learn from. I watch you videos over coffee most mornings. Good to see you doing well. About to grab a camera and head out this morning as well.

Hi Henry. Mate, loving your videos and images you are producing. Loved the image of the snowy road in the last video. Totally understand you wanting to go back using the D7200. I am a Canon M50 user too. There are many things I like about the M50, particularly the compact nature of the camera. I have enjoyed seeing you out using it. I agree with your comment about the lenses. As a M50 user I have a few EF-M lenses and the 15-45mm lens is the weakest in terms of image quality. I have gone back to my 18-55mm lens. It is much sharper. I recommend to use a lens hood with that one too. Also, the EF-M 22mm lens is really sharp. I can recommend that one too. From my experience using the M50 the lens do not like low light situations. They love it when the weather and subject is bright and sunny. I noticed the image of the snowy road that it was the darker area where the sharpness was poor. I have the same issue. I recently upgraded my EF-M 55-200mm to an EF-70-300 L lens and wow! what a difference. It is heavy but, the image quality coming out of this combination is really good even at higher ISO. Keep up the good work Henry.

As photographers we all want to strive for the best yet we admire photographs taken years ago on cameras who's technical spec we would laugh at now! I really liked the Image you showed taken with the Canon. Carefull waving the Nikon Henry!

This is a very good comment, and very true! Most people chase after the ‘perfect camera,’ whilst never mastering the one they have. GAS sets in and they can’t resist the lure of new technology. Old cameras were state of the art at one point in time. Happy shooting!

I had a D7200 for 3.5 years and I loved that camera. But I sold it and went to the D850. I don’t regret it at all but I wish I had the 7200 for a second body. Great camera.

In the same boat Henry. I've shot with Nikon since 1977. Have a lens arsenal that cannot be outmatched. Periodically I rent new equipment to taste the waters and always come back to: Why? After I installed the D7200 into the inventory a few years ago and the plethora of lenses dating back to the first Nikon FE acquired in high school, there is no reason for me to upgrade my still photography. Now, shooting video is a different. This is something that's in the works and quite frankly not satisfying with the Nikon systems. So a new journey begins in the realm of equipment acquisition. Love you channel. Always giving me ideas. Keep up the great D7200 shots!

Great video! This year is my 50th year in photography. If you watch George Harrison a Concert for Bangladesh, THAT was on Aug 1, 1971, my 18th birthday and the day I acquired my first camera. It changed my life. After all the countless cameras I've enjoyed over a half a century, from 110 to 8x10", I've settled on a selection of cameras that have stood the test of time. While I shoot film extensively, I also enjoy a couple of Nikon D300 DSLRs. I plan to complete my gear with a D700...and be done. Settling on gear that YOU love is far more important than trying to get the latest/greatest. To be honest, If I had to get rid of EVERYTHING save one camera, it would be an old Canon VT deluxe with a 35f1.8 ltm. A few bricks of film and I'm good. Just shoot.

Keep Using your DSLR Its a fantastic camera that gets the job done , I'm still using my Canon 5D MKIII and will till it dies . Don't get fooled my marketing hype for new gear. Also I don't think Mirrorless are as robust as a DSLR , I know a few people having to have them cleaned a lot and serviced.

I thought that I didn’t like dull, grey, skies in England so I bought Luminar AI and changed them all. After watching your videos, I’ve changed them all back. They looked so unnatural and I’ve realised that cloudy skies can be beautiful. It took me a long time! Thanks for the videos - really interesting! Back to the drawing board ...... (I still like playing around with editing for fun, but prefer 'out of the camera' pictures these days. I suppose there’s a place for both?).

I think this is a great comment. I only lightly edit my photos too. If you want to make an impact on facebook then by all means replace the sky with software or something someone else did. But you have to start asking yourself when does your photo start to become a product of a software package and not the product of your own photography skill and artistic eye. In the end I think natural photos look best.
