Why I'm not a christian anymore | Leaving Religion

In this week's video I share some of the questions that I started to have that led to me deconvert from christianity. I was a very committed wholehearted christian for about 7 years. Watch this to hear why I chose to renounce my faith.

I went from a born again Christian to reluctant agnostic over the span of 14 years. It is extremely difficult. Religious trauma is real. It feels like Christians who try to pull you back in just gaslight you the entire time and they don't even realize it.

Same thing happened to me recently and now I’m agnostic to. It’s weird because today I tried having a conversation with God and was like oh wait I no longer believe in God. It’s so strange living without Him. I’ll never set foot in any church ever again. No one in the church even reached out to me when I went through my break up with the elder. I did get a job today though the only thing I kept telling myself is “to show up and do the next best thing.” Glennon Doyl

I'm certain most of these strangers throwing Bible passages and various Christian slogans are just trying to convince themselves. The chances a former Christian hasn't heard them before is slim. They must know this by now.

@Joshua Martin Pryce I think a lot of us have. It’s not easy to have faith in something that isn’t tangible. Some people twist and turn the Bible so much, it’s ends up looking nothing like what it started out as.

Bible has been twisted, turned and - to put it bluntly - counterfeited during centuries for political and financial goals so that the original message can be said to be lost. Besides, one can believe God without even belonging to any church/congregation.

Like most finns, I've never really been that religious person myself and after actually reading the whole bible through at quite young age it instantly became pretty obvious that the book is created and written by people to control other people. So I left the church 17 years ago and haven't had any regrets ever since. The thing that everyone should realize is that you can be a perfectly good person without religion. If you can't determine right from wrong then you lack empathy, not religion. Congrats for opening your mind and the best decision of your life. :)

You are clearly wrong and yet you said you can determine it yourself. You said you read the bible and saw people just wrote it to control. So in the very first verse about God creating, how did people make that up? Show your evidence that it was made up and that we got creation by natural means, not supernaturally by God. Then throw in life, etc, you are rather stuck but you still pretend you know what's right, then show it Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space, and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We KNOW these laws. We have NO doubts about them. We also KNOW that the laws of nature can't come about without a Lawgiver, God. So if you want to pretend to be smart, please give me the laugh by giving your science how creation really happened by natural means. Also, throw in how we got the laws of nature, naturally. Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis. God is the reason for us and all we have. kzread.info/dash/bejne/fJ2B09yHj7y5iLg.html The odds are NOT there. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iWWTraePkabfkaQ.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/q4ttycOwqr2yo84.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpiV07WupNebkdo.html

@Joshua Martin Pryce not everything that happens in a church is " heaven" there are children who get molested or abused by so called elders and others in those different christian religions, look at the jw,mormon, catholic religions for example of how many countless cases get swept under the rug or never acknowledged or out of fear of being shunned, there are other so called pastors who deceive people with false prophecies just to get them to join their cults and when that time, day, month, year comes around, nothing happens, just like the false prosperity preachers who want you to donate large amounts of money to their church, and while they are living it up " rich and famous" there are people out there who are homeless and jobless who donated their last penny and when they call and ask for help " oh sorry we cant help you try somewhere else" I could go on and on, I can go on to say that if you try to leave a cult or a christian denomination, you get shunned and disowned by certain family members or friends, don't believe me?,look it up and listen to people who been through it to understand it.

Are you not "following what is borrowed from others", in your de-construction, or apostasy? Sounds an awfully lot like that's exactly what you are doing. Grow a spine or whatever other part you need and find the understanding you lost, along with your soul, which cannot be redeemed at judgement day. It's WORK being a Christian. Not for the childish, lazy or feint-of-heart.

I have always had this dilemma in my head. If God is so loving and forgiving, why is the believing so important? Let's say that I would have lived all my life trying to be good but not believing there would be anything after, and after death I would be at the gates of heaven, and denied to get to heaven just to because not believing. I think there can be God, or not, but all this religion and writings are made by man because of politics. Just do as we say, and feel guilty anyway, pray for forgiveness, and be quiet. That is a perfect situation for those in power.

  • @m77ast

Your perspective is wise, deep but incorrect. On the one hand there are your good works / moral deeds which is what you are referring to. On the other hand their is sin which is breaking Gods law. For example though shall not lie. If you lie once that makes you a liar for all eternity. So you see you are comparing two entirely different things. God did not die on the cross for good works. God died on the cross for the sins your sins. Before Jesus died on that cross you could be sorry, you could repent a million times if you died - that one lie will still land you in hell for eternity. Do you see our situation. 2000 years ago was the first time humans with zero sins started walking the face of the earth. Because for the first time they were able to repent and also throw all their sins into Jesus Christ. And then continue to live Holy and everytime they made a mistake they repent again and call upon the blood. A human that dies without v sin is a child of God heading for heaven. A human that dies with one or more sins is a child of satan when he dies he goes to be with his father on hell. So please don’t mix things up. If Hitler on his death bed realises his error repent genuinely and throws his sins in Jesus even He will make it to heaven. Your good works do count for something though. They determine your reward in heaven however to get into heaven to see those rewards you have to be Holy without a single spot of sin on your soul. The only way to achieve that is Jesus Christ. Hope this blesses you.

Crazy that you said you were 30 in 2007, I thought you were 30 now! I'm just at the beginning of my journey of deconstructing my Christian faith. I feel like actual Scripture has a bit more ambiguous description of hell and bits that actually hint that hell is not eternal. I'm hoping this is true because SO much of me wants to keep my faith but you've inspired me to not be AFRAID of questioning. Thank you.

Well put! Honest questioning is the route to, if not wisdom, at least truth. I was about 19 when I started having those thoughts and honestly I was an atheist in a month or so (not that I could call myself one for a while). It'd been a process from before, but once I realised I had no good reasons to believe the things I believed were ACTUALLY true, it kind of fell apart from there. I recognised the need and wanting to believe the religious things and just realised it didn't really matter what I wanted to believe. What mattered was was it actually true. I'm still open to any and all gods and religions, but I can't take such things on faith, I need evidence. Good luck on your journey, and never be afraid to question. :)

I hope you've kept your faith....I'm answering to your year-old response. Too many people reject their belief, because it doesn't add up to what they think is correct, and place a judgement upon the Creator for not being as sensible or as smart or as wise as they are. Our understanding of God cannot be found in the Absolute Self. An imperfect being needs a perfect Source.

Your explanation of trying to do Gods will while doubting your own will was really where things fell apart for me. I began to see anything I wanted for my life as being selfish or wrong. It was impossible to know his will and wrong to follow my own. I had given my heart to the church I was going to. I just could not live a holy life. Anyway I left not that long ago. It's really difficult because the beliefs about who we are still linger. My pastor taught me that we are nothing that we are dead in our sin without Jesus. Why an awful thing to tell people. Especially to those struggling with issues of self worth.

Exactly I 100% agree like there are already people suffering from mental health issues and for them to go up to them and have the audacity to say something like that. It’s derogatory and condescending. It’s disgusting. And the whole idea of a baby being born in sin. Wtf??! What did that baby ever do? It just came out of the womb? Why did God create that baby if it’s on sin?? It makes absolutely 0 sense

I've seen it often where people get hurt at church, or in life, or whatever, then all of a sudden God does not exist because of it. I don't go to any churches anymore and haven't for a long time but that being said, I didn't go braindead because of it. Real science says nothing does nothing. My mom is 'very Christian' and continuously tells my siblings and me that we are not good enough, that we should pray and go to church etc. She knows a whole lot of prayers by heart, even in foreign languages and I must say that she is very serious about that. Some people go to church and are very fake. She is not like that at all. She is 'worried about our souls'. However, I feel God when I'm nature or when I can help someone when I work or by saying or doing something. I really avoid prayers where the blood of Jesus and other similar words are used. They depress me, but my mom uses them because they are considered important in special prayers. I just feel that is not my world. Many years ago I had a special experience during which I had mystical visions for some days. I felt God's love very strongly inside me. It was like sunlight. I had problems with my father at the time. 'I heard' God's voice telling me 'I'm also your father and I love you as you are'. Those special days changed my view about God and my life completely. I'm 100% sure that there are negative forces and they often influence our thoughts without us noticing. We should be aware of that and shouldn't always believe our thoughts. Some people follow their negative thoughts without being aware of those negative energies. All in all, I believe there are many reasons for people to act as they do (in a negative or positive way) and so I think nobody has the right to judge them except for God but I can't believe that souls remain in hell eternally. I believe God's power is the strongest and it can heal anything if it's necessary. Sometimes we must suffer to understand some lessons, but not eternally, in my view :D!.

The way you have deconstructed Christianity reminds me a lot of my own journey and where I have ended up in my spirituality. At some point I felt like I was spiritually dying because I was thinking about things logically and letting go of almost everything in my Christian faith. It was at that point I had to build any spiritual beliefs on love and the consciousness within myself. Everything contains this consciousness and therefore we are all United. Because this is not a physical force, We are more than this body.

With religions one has to see the forest from the trees. They have life wisdoms covered in stories one shouldn't take literally. The wisdoms themselves can have profound truth to them though. For instance, it's important to have belief, hope and love in one's life whether or not you believe in God. Different cultures have created their own religions so they work the best where they are from. Western societies are based on Christianity even though most people are secular.

God has not abandoned you...come back to Him there is a prophecy of the great falling away II thessalonians 2 1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. try looking into "Person of Interest" by J Wallace ...he was a skeptic police officer who researched things about Jesus Christ like...y he was born when he was born, how he was compared to other religions, how he effected the world in science, art, music, education..etc he author used the same tactic for Jesus Christ as he did to solve a cold case john 3 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. we all need to repent of our sins and follow Jehovah and Jesus Christ before its too late we are in the end times and the prophecies are coming to pass in our lifetime (matthew 24, II timothy 3 and 4, II thessalonians 2 for examples..also look into romans 1 ) daniel 7-12, revelation will all come to pass very soon please look into it

Thanks so much for your honesty. For me it was the list of "Do's and Don'ts" that made me feel inadequate and further away from God. Finally I decided to leave church, not saying everyone should, but I needed to be uninfluenced and started studying the New Covenant on my own. See in the beginning I was sold out on the unconditional love and safety in the Saviour. Although having good intentions, when churches preach law it becomes a whole legalistic religious organization that robs us of our true identity and freedom that we are supposed to have. What I found is that religion says "Fix yourself and God/we will accept you" while the original Gospel says "Come just as you are and I will give you righteousness/(okayness) as a gift". Religion says "You have to work hard to stay forgiven and right" while the true Gospel says "With a single sacrifice I have made you perfectly accepted and irreversibly forgiven for ever". Religion says "You have to work to get close to God" the Gospel says "You cant get closer to your Father as He is in you and you are in Him". Religion says "God is in love with a future version of you" while the Gospel of Grace says "Dad loves you as you are right now unconditionally and is NEVER GOING TO CHANGE in this irreversibly restored relationship". Religion says "You are not good enough" and the true Gospel of Grace says "You are fully accepted, with a new heart which is righteous, holy and blameless. That's your identity, now live from your heart and be yourself". Religion is a bunch of rules to follow as a prerequisite to acceptance versus the Gospel of Grace providing immediate irreversible acceptance which will produce the "works"/performance over time, but our performance is SECONDARY to the "Work Christ did". This reveals a bit of what I found please see this link for more: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hHysxLx-p8XOeMo.html This is 8 years later, in the mean-time I started a small bible study group where everyone is on the same level and unconditionally accepted, where their opinion is valid and important. God's love.

I’m so glad to hear! Christianity’s view on homosexuality is actually another one of the problems I had with it. It seemed so polarizing. For example, at first they would love bomb people then after a while if someone didn’t conform and “repent” from being gay then they would be kicked out of the church or looked down upon. That really broke my heart because I understand what it feels like to be misunderstood and be judged for a part of yourself that you can’t (and shouldn’t) change. I realize the whole of christianity isn’t this extreme towards gay people but the church in general seems to be. I wish you all the best and please know that you are loved so much and you should never have to change or suppress who you are for anyone or anything.

thank you for your honest words, rachael. nothing bad about being rebellious. I am a christian, but I don´t believe in an interventionist god or in the clergy. always mistrust the extremists, especially the religious ones of all religions. and there especially the organisations, the clergy. I mean christianity started as a religion of the simple people (sermon on the mount). but already caesar konstantin made it state religion 300 yrs after the death of christ. and since then for almost 1500 yrs. it has been used by the ruling, the nobility, the clergy to supress the simple people, to frighten them and to finance them, their palaces and cathedrals and to legitimate themselves. and how many wars had been fought in the name of religion. how many "heretics" and "pagans" have been killed in the name of god? gods will? I doubt that. it was napoleon, who separated church and state in germany, (but the state still collects the church tax from the people here.) and these centuriey as religion of the rulers have impressed the church until nowadays. I do not want to hurt anyones religious feelings. it´s my opinion.

Then think it. Always think but these people take it to the extreme and stop thinking. Real science says nothing does nothing. Life only comes from life. Law of biogenesis. I totally respect your decision. And it takes a lot of inner strength to lay your soul bare, as you have done. First of all, I think people tend to adhere to the religion they were raised with. I too was raised in a Christian family. However, as one ages and has more life experiences, there are challenges to one's faith. Now it is clear to see that religion provides comfort and succor to many, whether you are Christian, Muslin, Hindu, Buddhist, Jewish, whatever... I became disenchanted with religion in general when I started studying other religions. I recognized a commonality between many of them, that being "there is no path to salvation except through OUR religion." How can that be? Then there is the controlling factor about religion. You obviously have encountered that. So where does one go from there? There comes a time in many people's lives, as it has for you, where you reach the conclusion that a particular religion, or all established religions perhaps, are not for you. They just don't make sense any longer. To me, I still believe God exists...but, I think of God as being the Universe. I know this may sound whack, but it's what I believe. The Universe is alive and conscious. Look at some of the more recent maps of the universe showing how the flows of gravity and other energies. It looks surprisingly like a neural network. I think we came from God, but as a evolution of God's being. I am not convinced God is really caring of individuals, as many religions teach. I think more so that God cares about what happens to us as species, but individuals, not so much. What does that mean? You've already come to the understanding that we are in charge of our own destinies. While religion can lead you to some compassionate people that can help you through tough periods of your life, that compassion is an expression of conditional love, as religion tends to do. Please know that there are compassionate people out there who won't shun you just because you don't think exactly as they do. It is said that "God helps those who help themselves," and I believe this is excellent guidance. For I believe God gave us intelligence and the ability to do things for ourselves. Never let anyone get you down or stand in your way. Good luck on your journey of introspection and growth!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this! I totally agree with all that you said! And I also started to see the similarities between all of the religions. I also see God as the Universe now. Take care. Thanks again

Raymond, it sounds like you're on a good path, but there is often a huge difference between what man teaches in churches, and what the Bible and other texts actually say. The Bible teaches, that Jesus says "the only way to the father, is through me" Man think it means through the physical body of Jesus from Nazareth, or the churches claiming to follow him. However, Jesus said before that "I am the way, the truth and the life", just before he says that. Could it be, that we reach the father through these three things? ("The way" is a complex biblical principle, which I wish I could explain here, but it would be confusing). My point being, there might be many belief systems, but only one universe and one God, and God did not buy the parts for the universe in Walmart.

There are things in there you will like, but also things that will seem cruel or even barbaric. What the Bible can offer an atheist, in my opinion, is mostly of historical and literary qualities. There are some good stories in there, and many classical literary books references the Bible, if they're not actively "stealing" from the Bible. The Bible is not alone in that regard though. Greek mythology etc. is good in that regard also.

Hello! My name is Jocelynn. I have no idea why I found your video but God knows and I don't believe it's an accident that I saw it. :) I realized I had had similar questions and thoughts and such that you have had, and so I just wanted to share if it's helpful. Also just want to say I'm really sorry that was your experience with christianity, wow that "church" sounds honestly so awful, good for you for getting out of there! That they shunned and shamed you is awful, and really speaks to what kinda spirit they may have been operating in, certainly doesn't feel like the spirit of the Lord. From what you described that was not Christianity at all. It honestly breaks my heart to hear this, that is so not okay or loving or kind. You're also totally right that giving someone an ultimatum is not a relationship at all! One thing that really helped me understand this notion of heaven and hell more is that, hell isn't a specific place God sends us to punish us for not choosing him because he's mad or gets joy in us suffering, it's more that he lets us choose and honours our choice and if our choice is to not be in relationship with God, we then we are going to be in a place or space void of anything that is loving, beautiful, peaceful, just, etc, not because God is punishing us by taking them away, but because without His presence, all those things are not there, because those things are God, those are the qualities of God, they are who He is, his essential nature so if we don't want to be in relationship with Him we would not be around those things, you know? And I know that it pains God if that is what we choose because of course like any (healthy) father, he wants to be in relationship with his children, but, he still lets us make that choice ultimately. Ezikiel 18:23 speaks about how God doesn't take pleasure in the death of the wicked. I think this is where a lot of folks kinda went wrong when they chose to focus on the "fire and brimstone" aspects to encourage people to Christ, because that isn't even biblical IMO, nor is it encouraging! And what kind of relationships lasts if it was initiated on some level through fear? It's not going to be sustainable you know? I feel like this is what you're getting at (though I could be wrong). So it makes me sad when people are preaching the fear stuff and such because it's just not really showcasing reality. It's God's kindness that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4) you know? Not fear. That was one thing I stated firmly when I was in the new-age but people were talking to me about the Bible and Jesus etc. I was initially very skeptical but eventually said I might be willing to look into Christianity, but if I believe in God it will NOT be because I am worried about going to hell, nor will it be because I'm just using it as a crutch. Regarding worshipping him and such, I really used to wonder a bit about that too - I talk about it in one of my videos I believe, I think my very first one, but about how sometimes the worldly understandings make it seem like is God just some narcissist? But then I realized, God is the creator of everything, and incredibly Holy, and he created us to be able to worship him because he knew that that would be what makes us most complete, given that he represents EVERYTHING, you know? So it wasn't for his purposes because he was like "muhaha I want everyone to bow down to me, I am a ruler and controller" (as the world sometimes depicts him) but because he wanted us to feel complete, and he knows that we wouldn't be unless we knew our creator intimately, he knows that that is how we will achieve greatest fulfillment, by being connected to and praising the source of it all. And of course though, he still does give us the choice to turn away from him. The greatest difference between all other religions and Christianity I've come to realize is that all others are based on works - if you do this stuff, you might be reconciled to God, if you are perfect you might reach enlightenment etc. With Christianity, it's already done, Jesus paid the price and it is finished. I used to believe that each religion had aspects of truth and there was some then, "ultimate truth" that I was trying to find. But then I realized through experiences and life and God helped show me of course through his word, that that was just a deception. The enemy is always wanting us to think that we can always uncover more. It was part of the original sin right, satan was like....oo God just didn't want you to experience everything, so you should eat of this apple so you can know for yourself! ....it's classic enemy deception. I don't really see it as an inherent issue that "only one is right", because presumable one has to be? We can't both have one true God, and many gods, you know? It's like one of these ways has to be right. Because the existence of one, means the other wouldn't exist. I realize within the world of relativism, there is this notion that everything can be right, but objective and subjective truths get mixed up in that. Subjectively it can be the case, as in, I might think that yellow is the BEST colour, and you might think no, it's orange, well, we can both be right, because there is no ultimate truth on that, orange is true for you and your experiences, yellow is true for me and my experience.... but for objective truths, there is only one right answer. Eg for things like who created us? What happens when you die? Or something a little less of a big question, like gravity - I can't be like, that's great you believe in gravity, I choose not to! Well, the truth is it's still there, it still exists. You know? I'm getting into some deeper stuff now and don't want to make this a novel though apparently it already is lol, but anyway I just wanted to encourage you because you are asking great questions and God loves an inquisitive mind and He welcomes questions and I'm sorry if anyone ever told you that your questions were not allowed because it's so important that we truly wrestle with and understand what we believe and why. And I'm sorry if anyone ever made you feel like your thoughts didn't matter. When you spoke of going to that guy and you'd ask him your questions then he'd twist it all and make you believe what he said and you'd be like OH ya and then doubt yourself, but then realize wait a minute! That just makes me so mad and sad because man that is so bad and not at all what Jesus was preaching nor the character of God. (cont'd....)

  • @ifpeoplereallyknew

    @ifpeoplereallyknew

    Жыл бұрын

cont'd - There are definitely many ways to be deceived out in the world for sure, and you and I kind of share opposite stories in a way in that I rejected Christianity for most of my life and was in the new-age and now am born-again, and yet I see similarities in the ways our minds work and the types of things that got us thinking. My heart now is to just dispel the lies of the world that keep people from engaging with the true heart of Christ. When you spoke about the heart being deceitful I just want to say that God also gives us a mind, it's not that we cannot trust ourselves at all, he still wants us to think and is with us in helping us! Also, I realized that I had believed this lie and I thought why does God only want me if he sees Jesus, like people would talk about how God sees me and he sees Jesus so he doesn't see sin. It would make me so sad because I thought, man - God doesn't like me, he just wants to see his son a bunch of times. But then I had this massive moment of realization where someone spoke truth over me and said that the only thing Jesus is washing away is the sin, the sin that wasn't even me or my essence to begin with. The real me, is under all that and it's actually who God created me to be, unique and special in God's eyes. I don't know if that is helpful but I hope so :) To the denominations and unity piece, I'm not sure if you ever looked into this or if anyone was able to support you in those questions, as they are valid! I just wanted to share in case no-one pointed this out, there is a difference between beliefs that tie to salvation - essentials of the faith, and then doctrine, i.e. non salvation related beliefs (eg how do we want to worship? Sing old songs, new songs, sing for a long time, improv it etc.). The many denominations relate to doctrinal differences but have the same core message of salvation - that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and made a way for us to be in relationship with God - definitely the split is a human thing but it doesn't necessarily impact the word of God - if that makes sense. You clearly have a heart for unity and that's so beautiful. Maybe you're being called to help reconcile some of that dis-unity within the church (which truly, in our world today does exist everywhere, not just within this area) but I pray that the disunity doesn't lead people astray because people mess up all the time and so we can't let humans define Christianity and Gods word for us. I just want to share too - your heart still matters to God, everything about it and anything you're feeling, it matters to him. He doesn't want you just ignoring it, and blindly following his will, it's just helpful to share with him and talk with the Lord. I think it can be hard because we might see God in a skewed way especially if we didn't have healthy parents (I didn't, so it was so foreign to me at first), so we can sometimes think of God as controlling and wanting us to follow his ways even if it's not what we want, but I have found that what He wants for my life is far better than anything I could have even imagined. If someone knows you best and knows what will support you best now and in the long run, would you want that support? And, it isn't always easy because life is hard, and Jesus never promised that we wouldn't have suffering, in fact he said we will face trials, but he assure us that he has overcome the world and he promised that he'd be with us to the ends of the age (John 16:33). The desires of your heart matter to God and he knows your deepest most greatest hearts desires. Anyway, honestly I respect you and feel your heart in this video very strongly. I feel God wants you to know how much you are loved and that those people you experienced, were falsely representing him, and that isn't His heart for you. You're his sweet child and he loves you very much and has never stopped loving you. :) If you read this far, thank-you! And if you genuinely want to chat or have questions about what I may mean, feel free to email me (I wish there was a DM feature on here but I can send you my email if you want to chat more! :)) All the best to you.

Good to hear about your journey. I came out of Christianity when I was about 19. Can't even remember the exact timeline or the order of realizations. I just came to realize there was no evidence for gods and the absurdities including what you listed here kind of closed the deal. Nowadays when I look at religions and any kind of supernatural beliefs from the outside it baffles me how I once believed it all. Including all kinds of self-contradictory things. But I was raised in it and rational thought needs to be learnt, no-one has it nailed down naturally, especially as a child.

@Joshua Martin Pryce How would you know, have you practiced every religion and supernatural belief system? Every faith claims similar supernatural events and miracles. Not one has been verified, suggesting they are all in the believers' head. Let's face facts here: there's gods and demons as much as there are leprechauns and pixies - which is to say there aren't. Humanity would do well to grow out of such nonsense.

Everyone has their path and direction. No one “knows” the “truth” and ultimate answer regardless of what they were taught or learned. It takes an extraordinary person to realize and comprehend this and to tell themselves it is okay. As humans, we tend to need to grasp a concept (including myself) to feel comfortable with the outcome because, as humans, we have a state of consciousness that no other animal has. We can overthink and over-complicate life. Thank you for sharing. ❤️

@@YahwehisGodandYeshuaisKingiamr This is circular reasoning at it’s finest. Faith is belief without evidence. There is no empirical evidence of the divine at all. Scientific fields that would find evidence of a so called god has not found any. There is a reason why there’s a high negative correlation between one’s educated status and religiosity. In this case the more educated one is the less religious they are. Because they don’t just chalk it up to “I don’t know therefore magic/God”. Which if you believe in the Bible you do in fact believe in magic. In the past when we attributed things to being “divine” turns out we were ignorant and discovered the real explanation of things and founded whole new scientific fields of study. Also, we don’t need a god to explain the natural world and how things came into existence. Fallacious, philosophical arguments and statements from a said “holy book” written by mere fallible men who got everything wrong on just about very thing is NOT evidence. The Bible states the earth is a snow globe like shape surrounded by water in space. Obviously this is embarrassingly wrong. There are plenty other examples I can go on about on scientific claims that are wrong in the Bible. Along with hundreds of contradictions within the Bible which counteracts the whole point of it being “infallible”. Showing it is no better than any other holy book out there and is in fact flawed. Hitchen’s razor states “What is a asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.” Positive claims require positive evidence. And the burden of proof falls upon the one making the positive claim. Therefore, I can refute your positive claim and call out the bluff of your unsupported argument. And I’m not necessarily making a negative claim by doing so. As Aron Ra states “Christians hate the burden of proof more than vampires hate garlic” which I have to whole heartily agree. I would highly recommend you check out Aron Ra’s video titled “what is faith.” Very informative.

I am so glad I found your channel and this video. I have a very similar story and I’ve been trying to reprogram my mind from the strong believes I had as well. I never intended to walk away from Christianity but I had a lot of the same questions you had and on top of it I had a spiritual awakening in the last couple years and the Christian faith did not resonate with what I was experiencing. There are actual spiritual awakening symptoms and I had every single one yet I thought I was spiritual all my life has a Pentecostal Christian and turns out I was caught in the religious trap of indoctrination and dogma. Your beautiful story encourages me that I’m not alone. My whole family thinks I’m on my way to hell

soooo much of this resonated with me. i left chrisitanity about 2 1/2 years ago, and hearing you talk made me realize that there are certain things still programmed in me like when it comes to following the desires of my heart. i do think it's beautiful to be commited to flowing with life/the universe but i realized sometimes i can use that as a crutch like saying "if the universe allows". christianity really programs you to feel unworthy in so many ways just for being human and so much fear. i was telling a friend the other day that i know for a fact i would have never known myself as deeply as i do now if i was still a christian. wouldn't trade the freedom and true love for anything in the world. much love to youu 💛

God didn't start wars man did...God made everything perfect on earth and man made it all fall but God is going to make a new perfect heaven and earth (revelation) II thessalonians 2 1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. john 3 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
