last year my wife and I had finally run out of excuses for living with cold /snowy winters that lasted 7 months. Last August sold up all of our property and toys. Beach in Rocha Uruguay is now home and at 65 years old we were welcomed, a beach house that I could never dream of owning in Canada or the USA no looking back

There’s no beach in Rocha. The districts near Rocha has. But those districts on the west side are ports not scenic.

I was 44 when gave/ sold my stuff and rented out my house in Winnipeg and moved to Egypt and lived on the beach. One of my friends complained to me about living in Canada and about struggling in the winter etc and then she said something that is still ringing in me ears ' AND we PAY to live here!' . I was actually paying to suffer in a place I hated. Easy decision for me.

As a widower pushing eighty I left five years ago for Thailand. World class hospitals, most doctors speak English and are often US trained, pleasant people, much lower cost of living, very safe and acceptably hot weather. Met and married a wonderfully age appropriate Thai lady. Living the best years of my life. I’m never going back.

@@Pensandoci9 As a Portuguese, I think you're right to some extent but I'd say they hate foreigners more in the abstract, if that makes sense. Like, many of my countrymen might say (online or at the dinner table) that foreigners are ruining the economy or something, but when they meet any individual foreigner in real life they'll basically always be very friendly. For instance, they might talk smack about the Chinese, but they'll still enjoy going to the Chinese restaurant.

I once went to a dentist in Moscow, probably 20 years ago - paid under $100. Dentist was Armenian, went to UCLA. Totally modern new equipment. Then I realized that there are viable alternatives out there, if you care to look.

The problem with America is that it has double taxation so even living abroad you have to pay your federal income tax. I ended up meeting a European girl in college and long story short we moved to Switzerland after graduating almost 15 years ago now. I ended up rescinding my US citizenship due to the double taxation rules and every time I visit friends and family back home now the DHS treats me like I am a terrorist. I've been 'detained' for an interview on 3 separate occasions and they always ask me why I gave up my citizenship. The egotism of Americans cannot allow for the fact that America isn't the best place to live in anymore.

There is no double taxation in the US. If you pay more taxes on your income than what you would pay in the US you are not taxed. If you pay less then depending how you organize your finances you may have to pay so to the IRS. Just clarifying.

Since I'm no longer a citizen I don't need to worry about it. Good riddance - wouldn't ever want to live in the hell hole that America has become anyway.

I am from Ontario, Canada. I left in 2005 and moved to the USA. Then I left the USA in 2014 and now I am living permanently in the Philippines. I am here on a retiree visa (SRRV). I am very happy here.

And most the time you have a local teacher working with you. Plenty of filaphina women in Vietnam reaching English and they dont know Vietnamese.

I live in Cali Colombia been here for many years.never been robbed or threatened. Was robbed in Orlando and Miami,,,, London has 268 cell phone thefts a day……. Go figure

We are in the starting phases of planning our escape, things have taken a bad turn since I have been in the U.S. People do not have any common decency anymore here in the states and when you finally realize that nothing will change it’s time to move on and don’t fight a struggling ship going down.

Left the USA 16 years ago and my life has improved dramatically. After much research we chose the central highlands of Mexico. Away from the beaches and “the blast zone “.

Most Americans are 2nd or 3rd generation citizens. Their families left their home countries to find a better life. Why is it so difficult for them to see that it may be time to do the same thing now? 🤔🤷‍♂

here's the little secret--when that happened, the USA was starting the industrial revolution, Europe was ravaaged by The Crown, the aristorcricy and there was very little hope for the future. the potato famine as it's known, forced many to get on ships for work. at the time, ireland had 8 kids per family. now, it's a dying country. To your point, many think the usa is the land of opportunity, you can make anything of yourself & become rich even though poor family. that's true, but in the last 12-13 years and especially the last 2.5, the culture has chnaged, the uncontrolled migration has changed the country for the worse, the taxes, the attack on merit & wealth. it's stunning Yes, there will come a time when the wall they're building at the border will be to keep Americans in, there's a strong likelihood that mass exodous will happen with a major event like famine, food shortages, riots. I live in a very wealthy area. I know several families that have been preparing to leave. they are quietly moving their money overseas and they say "we aren't too far behind". This is what's going on

I have been living in La Candelaria, the city center of Bogotá since 2015 nonstop and travel all around the country all the time. I never had a single issue and I use my phone and also use expensive camera gear.

It depends on the area you're living but you have to have street smarts in Bogotá for instance if you take a transmilenio you have to hide your phone in your pockets and you're gonna be constantly bothered by people getting on selling their products or beggars because of widespread poverty in the city and the crappy salaries most Colombians make about 250 to 300 dollars is ridiculous. Bogota is a mess of a city you have to make at least 1000 dollars to live comfortably, most bogotans just dream about buying a new car or even traveling to another country they just barely make ends meet I invite you to visit the less privileged areas in the south for example usme ciudad bolivar bosa and you'll see the harsh reality most Europeans and Americans live in a bubble and don't have the foggiest idea about how actually common people live, for a foreigner who earns an online income in dollars Colombia is a reasonable option but for the vast majority of Colombians facing poverty and being slaved away this country is hell

Yesterday I just walked back from Carrera 22 con 9 to la Candelaria at 10pm, no issue at all. I do not say never ever something happens here but usually for Colombians it seems that almost everything and every place is dangerous and this also does not reflect reality.

@@COLOMBIAFRANK don't get wrong Frank I know there are some people who live a decent life in Bogotá but for the majority is a pretty stressful experience they live in the city slums and have to take public transportation every to commute to their jobs it could take 2 hours and Colombian wages are a joke you know it even for people with a college degree and fluent English a friend speaks 4 languages and is stuck in a call center making 500 dollars what I'm trying to say is that Colombia is such a difficult country for most of its population

After watching your videos for the better part of 2 years it is getting harder and harder to stay in the us. I spend a lot of my free time thinking about an exit plan and how I could make life work in places like, Romania, Serbia or Bosnia. Maybe even Latin America. The United States has just go fucking nuts and it's no longer worth it to "stay and fight"

As a 56 year old vet, I'm sadly coming to the same conclusion. Half the people here have been convinced to hate the other half. So many people overweight. Not much culture. Big Pharma has convinced everybody to be on medication instead of dealing with the root of the problem. Rampant drug use. All the silly woke bullshit. Realizing I wanna see the world and expand my horizons!

I am not an entrpreneur but your book changed my life and your wisdom and youtube videos have motivated me to truly make a better life for myself. Your advice and information is a major reason I am getting better educated and researching opportunities abroad. Thank you Mr. Henderson and God bless.

Maybe you haven't been watching the news in Canada. It's not safe to ask kids not to blow smoke in your face at a coffee shop in Toronto. Not very safe to walk around Vancouver either. In case you haven't noticed, violent crime has been on the rise across the country for the past 8 years and has spiked in the past 3. It may be Canada, but it's not the one of 20 years ago. It's changed.

I really like your videos. I am a barber and I have had customers from all around the world. I have traveled to China, Japan, Portugal Mexico many times. I would like to have a few small places outside the United States or at least one place States. I have never been to Casa Rico but have seen it on KZread and think I would like it. Funny saying I was talking to my customer from Ecuador and he was telling me if I wanted to go down there and visit just to let him know and I ask him is it safe down there. And I was cutting his hair then he looked up at me and said, do you mean more dangerous than here?? I had to laugh

I have immigrated to Canada 14 years ago and let me tell you, it has become a nightmare. Many of my friends and acquaintances moving back to Europe. The potholes in Canada getting bigger, taxes are rising, totalitarian left is unbearable, housing is not affordable, wages are down and most of all crime and homicides is present everywhere.

Many years ago I read a Health book that stated the single biggest change to your longevity would be to live in a country with quality affordable healthcare with low crime rates. The list is probably very outdated, CA, SG, JP, KR, NZ, AU, EU.

A lot of places are safer than the cities that you mentioned but El Salvador is not one of them. Dallas, Houston, Tampa and Jacksonville are also less safe than the cities you mentioned

Your are sitting on top of a very important area of expertise but quite frankly your presentation and demonstration of the cultures in different countries is is quite indicative that you have seldom ventured past the business districts or done much to really understand the local mindset. Don t get me wrong. I love your channel. Reading through comments , I notice many of your followers are 40-50 somethings divorced or never married. entrepreneurial north american men, aside from taxation etc, can do QUITE well in the dating market in places like Mexico, Colombia, Eastern Europe (developed Southeast Asia) etc. another facet of (rustbelt) North America that has become intolerable......Keep up the great work!

Here is a massive difference living alone ir with a family with kids and animals. I did both... Currently in Spain with kids, 12 ducks, dogs and 2 rabbits....

If you had a US holding co that owned several successful businesses, and you perhaps only visited the general managers of each business 5-6 times a year (2-3 day office visits), which offshore location would you live considering travel time involved in heading to 5-8 times a year. I decided to rent my house is Miami that’s paid off for 3500$ a month for a 5 year period and live overseas renting a 300$ apartment with my pension and my rental passive income I will be able to save close to 300k in a 5 year period. It’s been impossible to save money with me living in my house and my 3000$ a month pension. I will be 56 in 5 years then then I will decide to move back to america or to sell my house and live better overseas

having live through the hell that is being a citizen of a south american country I personally would stay as far from south america as possible, although theres many good things about living there, especially if your income comes from outside, but politically and economically theyre not as good as many think, and well being taken hostage, and kidnapped in my home country I wouldnt say theyre safe at all

Hard for me is my family. I want to be near my adult kids and my grandkids. How do I just leave them to move overseas?

Technically everywhere is overseas to somewhere else!

If you have KIDS, what should be taken into consideration is the fact that you will lose the Child tax credit and will not be able to declare them on your IRS tax return. I learned this the hard way. Maybe you should consider doing a video on the subject. Thank you. Love The Chanel

Soon moving and setting up my business in Dubai! Taxes here in Norway are not only hurting the rich, but also the middle class such as myself. I paid around 60% all in all directly/indirectly (employer, vat, income plus more). Can't wait to free myself of an inefficient and terrible public sector plus taxes

I have the german and spanish passport. Also I have panamanian residence with option of panamanian passport. I think about to take Spanish and panamanian nationality and leave the german. Don't know if it is an good idea to diversify passports in other region?

Germany was defeated in two world wars, yet its GDP per capita/standard of living is much higher than any South American country. Just something to think about.

I don't want to live in the US anymore also. It's a mess.

how do you visit aging parents after expatriating

It's nice knowing if the country you move to doesn't work out for whatever reason, you can move back to the safety of the US!
