I bought property in Singapore when I migrated here 20 years ago. I have no regrets. By today I retired at 50 and the rental incomes give me the freedom to travel and have a good life in Singapore.

I’m moving back to Poland

My wife, son and I saw the writing on the wall in the US and we all moved to Mexico about two years ago. As we watch the US continue to melt down we are so glad we did, although I'm heartbroken about what the US has become. We don't expect to ever return.

I am Mexican with a Mexican passport. I can maneuver the country well, my father owned many businesses and real estate there. Its been either confiscated by the cartels or by tenants, he sold the rest. I' never thought I'd see the day. He said once the cartels come a knocking the party is over. The money and power the cartels are gaining due to the US open border is scary. I've lived in Chile and I've traveled to Argentina. I am seriously considering Argentina as my plan B if Milei wins. Highly education population, 1st world medical, rich culture and food, rich in resources, gorgeous geography from Iguazu waterfalls to vast beaches, to worls class ski resorts and of course the expansive Pampas. Real estate is still very affordable. Can you do an episode on Argentina after the Sunday elections?

Guys, if you're broke there has never been a better opportunity to start a business online. All you need to live abroad as a single guy in some places is less than $1000 (I lived in central Mexico and Guatemala on $600 for years). Earning $1000/mo is selling 50 products at $20 profit, or 25 products at $40. Save up $10k, move to Mexico and give yourself 12 months doing 40 hour work weeks. If for some reason you can't make even $1000, you come home. You go back (with the best experience of your life) and live paycheck to paycheck again. Those jobs are available always. This is almost literally what I did and I've been living abroad for over 10 years now.

Canadian couple in their mid fifties. Discovered Nicaragua 7 years ago and making plans to make this our retirement haven. Found and bought the property, building starts next year and can’t believe how inexpensive it is versus any Canadian property. Obtaining permits is a breeze and we can have pretty much any size or design without having big brother telling us what we can and cannot do.

El Salvador is doing way better, less inflación and it is the safest country in the Americas now.

Some quick advice, Spain and Italy are a bit better organized than Greece (A bit). But Day to day life in Greece, man, leaps ahead. Best social life in the world. YOu go out on a monday evening, the streets are filled with people. And friendships are so easy to start in Greece, really simple people who wear their hearts on their sleeves. By far the best cuisine (YES, better than Italian). And the most beautiful beaches in the world, that you do not need to pay anything to access.

Worldwide tax in Spain is very high and they can levy it regardless of your numbers of days PA in the country. It also has a major demographic issue. The only sensible route into Spain is through their Iberoamericana treaty for citizens of ex-colonies.

Unfortunately the whole of Europe is beyond bankrupt and goverments are going to step in and force you to invest your retirement in their investments in order to uplift themselves from it. For me Europe is dead, the Euro is going to die pretty soon, its just a question of when. Investing in western countries are a thing of the past. The East and South America are the places to investigate, for sure. Africa will rise up too but its still going to take a while, especially South Africa.

Lived in 10 countries and visited 50+. From a tax and lifestyle POV I would do 1) UAE (Dubai) tax residency with 10 year visa; 2) Summer home in Portugal (prefer Spain but not as tax friendly), and 3) possible Asian base in Bali or Malaysia. You could also have a base in London as long as you are not resident. Looking at this as an EU citizen.

Paraguay is not a mid 5 figures - ~$50,000 - permanent residency cost. It is a mid FOUR figures. $6000+ including your attorney fees.

You rarely mention Costa Rica. I have been here 4 year full time. I got my residency after one year. I spend $100 per month for Caja (full medical insurance) and even though it is not the cheapest, it is cheaper than allot of places in the US. Downfalls: roads, some banking, costal real estate cost, most natives are poor, allot of con artist in the real estate profession including some attorneys. Positive’s super friendly and helpful people, high literacy, FREE of government interference in your life (my main concern for the US), and labor is cheap, it is absolutely beautiful with almost ever climate, average temperatures and two oceans. For me the best part is, two hour flight to Miami.

Firstly thank you for the great content. I’ve lived in 17 countries having travelled over 60 so far. I’ve renovated properties in 5 of them. My advice to ‘city slickers’ which I guess I was is don’t buy too much land unless you have enough $ to hire a full time team. It’s back breaking otherwise . I’ve just planted an Olive grove over looking the Mediterranean Sea and my backs f*cked 😂

Asia probably Thailand maybe Malaysia although my heart will always be in India for its absolute craziness ;-) Americas I'd say Columbia in the days of Escobar was mad but now probably Mexico as its got so much to explore if you like to wander like me...But each to their own.

Good for you! Most kids your age are out partying and not thinking seriously about the future. I, like you, was concerned about this early on and bought my first real estate property at 22. It was a lot on a lake that the owners let me make $500 payments on until it was paid off. And I started acquiring more real estate after that. Just be careful about student loans, college is no longer usually a good ROI. I only went cuz my parents paid for my first 3 years so I had little debt.

Just read about a very successful regional builder and real estate agent who did just that! He started out at his mother's Title Agency, and learned from the contract side up, instead of the other way around! Wish you well in your endeavors, and be sure to travel overseas while you're young and unattached, it changes you for the better in countless ways! 👍😎

Italy? I remember the guy who bought a derelict house in the middle of nowhere in the mountains to renovate. Even there, far from the closest village, he had to get a permit for everything. He was not allowed to change the windows and other things. A bureaucratic nightmare. Mexico or South America sure is a better option. There is a reason you can buy whole villages for next to nothing in Italy.....

I am going to retire in Santa Catarina state in Brazil in a city called Florianópolis! I went to Italy this year and 2 Italians told me about this beautiful place and I can’t wait to retire there in 2 years. I am 36 now but we have enough cashflow to retire comfortably in Brazil. With $5k a month US dollars your income there will be living in luxury if you have no car payment and no mortgage!

Perhaps you could go to 2 or 3 of those places and meet British residents there. But you should start today! Plan a vacation. The prices in most places in the South (Andalusia) are reasonable once you leave the tourist spots. Best wishes in finding your place in the sun.

There is going to be a RTS metro line linking Singapore and Johor to be ready by 2026.

Serbia is the most beautiful place live in, especially the countryside! Only point to add is that it is the best to have income which is not necessary dependent on the earning the money there as salaries aren't that great and the locals buying capacity is not that great. However there are still a lot of tourist and expats living there.

Lisboa or Algarve. Gate of Europe from the Atlantic, bridge to the new world for Europeans. Almost 300 days of sun per year.. Great food, friendly people to foreigners, amazing coast line and prime private health care. Outside of Lisbon and Algarve (store of value and great lifestyle) there are bargains. Finally, very safe crime wise, one of the most safe countries in the world.

We went to Uruguay, but now we are selling our plot there. If you want to live in the countryside, be aware of dangerous snakes, spiders... Lots of bites happen on the rice fields... So if you want to plant and have a big garden, you have to be extremely careful. We have small kids and our only option would have been living in the cities, which are not really for us... I grew up in Spain and I am considering moving back. Why not invest in Spain? All of Europe seems to be following the same ... maybe Africa would be an option. They have snakes etc. too, but form my experience they are not as aggressive and less likely to be seen. My husband lived in Africa for 30 years and only saw a Cobra once... I definitely think the desired lifestyle changes everything when it comes to Plan B.

I bought proprerty in Italy for 35000€ just 1 hour away from the Capital Rome and near a very nice University and living area in a city. I encourage everyone to do it

this is true yes.@@l.k.7940 there is also an option where they want to be sweden or panama and just do business with everyone. especially seeing as they are building a new canal through Oaxaca and vera cruz connecting the pacific and gulf of Mexico. half of their new infrastructure being build is funded by china. So it would make sense that they would be doing there own thing and not subscribe to just one alliance

Kind of very sad to see all those Canadians running Airbnb in Mexico at the expense of the local people who have a hard time getting accomodations and then daring to scream that foreign buyers were the cause of the housing crisis in Canada and ended up banning them from the Canadian real estate market But yet, it's ok for Canadians to invade Mexico and Europe. Do hypocritical those dam Canadians.

Land ownership is important. Which is why Malaysia 🇲🇾 is probably in my top 3 places to look at. I visited in 2019 (Kuala Lumpur) and im looking to head back there this October (still deciding on Thailand or Malaysia). But id love to own a place there.

Land ownership is VERY IMPORTANT in Mexico, because for so long, Mexicans could not own land. The laws protecting land ownership are strong.

Unfortunately I have a very stubborn Thai wife that will only look to Thailand.. she's already cost me a lot in wasted resources and opportunities.. we have several properties in Thailand, far in the north and can retire there.. I'm not interested in citizenship but will need to look at what visas will be available in the next 5-10 years. I'd love to look elsewhere but if I give her the boot most of the wealth I have accumulated will be gone.. so not many options. I really want to get away from Australia. I love the country but not the nation.. it used to be great here, that's why my father decided to leave Germany for a better and more free life. Now it's just as bad as elsewhere in the west

06:30 - Regarding Paraguay, yes, it is a very interesting bet, especially when the Bioceanic Way - linking Santos (Brazil's most important sea port) to Antofagasta and Iquique (both in Chile) across Paraguay and Northern Argentina - gets completed. Now speaking some Spanish is important, especially outside Asunción and Ciudad Leste. If you are into buying rural property, consider learning some Guarani as well (or make sure you hire a HR manager who does). * As for Uruguay, I was raised just besides (on the brazilian side of the border), I agree it's a great place, but quite expensive for the region's standards. If you go there to start a business and/or buy something (such as a farm or a logistics company in one of their duty free zones) then it should be OK.

I do love Montevideo, quite a classic city, great food, theaters, excellent clubs etc, but if you are more of an (ocean) beach / sailing / fishing / sports and/or night life oriented person, then Punta Del Este might suit you better. Personally, I prefer the countryside (my core business is Aviation, but I was raised on cattle-breeding "estâncias" on the brazilian side of the border), so there are small towns which are also worth visiting (Mercedes, Salto, Paysandu, Durazno, Rivera etc, most of them with small international airports). In any case they are great people, very welcoming to foreigners. Some people think it is "so peaceful and safe that it looks boring". Well, as far as I'm concerned, "boring is beautiful" = out of trouble...I hope it helps. 😎🧉 www.uruguay.uy/en

@@fabiogoncalves9728i like "BORING" places too. Raised my kids in the US SoCalif in a great rural area with lots of animals. Rode our horses to the waterfalls. Beautiful foothill area, streams, trees, main street closed at 8pm. Then the developers came- tracts of homes, country club, golf courses. They Damed-up the streams. Now its being approved for grape growing (means wineries are coming). The town tripled in size. Its surrounded by mountains, in a valley, one way in. No homeless & low crime, big city is 20min away. But now homes start at $1M usd. Its still considered nice, but its not so boring anymore.

Why are you not a fan of investing in Spain? Any specifics? Also, when considering countries where to live. I would suggest to include things people in the more develop countries take for granted, such as level of corruption, safety/crime, healthcare. Most countries in Western Europe may have higher taxes or will not let you build your castle right on the beach with no permits but you can be sure that you will be able to go out without having to watch your back.

@@Learned333 I guess if you compare it to a tax heaven country, yes it could be high but Non-residents are generally taxed at 24% (non-EU citizens) or 19% (EU or EEA)

Taxes are too high. You have to pay to have a bank account in spain as well as health care ..I tried it, no thanks. Plus theres no water and its really arid.

@@Adrb22 24% up to €600,000 then it's 47%. Most of those looking to become a tax nomad are earning 7, 8+ figures annually. €600k is chicken feed to this demographic and provides no tax benefit. They'd be better off becoming tax resident in the UK, and that is seeing the highest rates of taxation in 70 years. I would choose to live in Spain permanently, but I do not. Simple reason: too high tax and bureaucracy. There is no financial benefit over my overtaxed citizen country. So elsewhere I look.

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.

You're right to refer to Mauritius as the 'Malaysia of the Indian Ocean' - I've heard almost the same comment from Malaysians who have travelled there. It reminds them of Malaysia in the good old days.

can you make a video on Southern Japan ! I was looking for programmer jobs in English online and Southern Japan came up all over for creating a new infra structure, trains, traffic, automatic systems all in Southern Japan. what is going on down there, what are the local governments propose for foreigners wanting to become a part of their new infrastructure rebuild programs? can one by taking a job down there get good deals with migration, low tax and buying ones own property ?

As someone working in Japan right now as a programmer, DX a.k.a. digital transformation is the new buzzword now over here, so that may be why (they're ummm... trying their best, to put it nicely) Japan has some of the world's highest tax rates though; 55% at the top income tax bracket, 20% on capital gains and dividends, 10% sales tax, exorbitant social security payments to support their aged populations, etc. There's even a tax on receiving gifts over 1.1 million yen total per year (yes, even from your own wife/husband, if the tax office decides arbitrarily that it's not an everyday expense). And yet the current government under Kishida is still trying to raise taxes even further. This is all despite stagnant, low Japanese salaries (Japanese programmers now earn less than their Chinese and South Korean counterparts). If you want to come here, do it because you like the culture, the beautiful scenery, nice food (I love Japanese food), great public transportation and services etc. Don't come here if you are trying to earn money and build your wealth efficiently, because the old farts in the Diet will tax it all away.

I do not want try to swim alive while half eaten!... where then to turn where the culture is as amazing as in Japan? I love the philosophy of Karate Budo and meditation and the closeness to nature Japanese have, especially in the south... but socialism.. I had enough ot Sweden, I want my life back! where should I go for entrepreneurial freedom in a beautiful culture of the mind and body connection? thanks for getting back!

If considering Serbia, I would recommend reading some history before making that move. The term genocide comes up frequently.

Same goes for Croatia if you really want to go this way in the region. Nobody here cares about the human rights scores because who would wanna live in the USA or UK then? Andrew summed it up prefectly. Serbia is def cheaper than Croatia. Yet, if you prefer higher living standard (infrastructur,etc.) then Croatia is the place to go.

If you middle class like me then you shouldn't worry about tax rates because we going to get hammered anyways. So, your next move is which country that has the lifestyle, weather, culture, and most importantly a move that can cut your cost of living by at least %50 then that is your next move. I love Spain, so i didn't wait until I'm old to buy the minute i got financially comfortable i went and bought a property there because i know for sure i can cut my cost of living and enjoy life.

Originally I always dreamed either living in Europe or Australia. The pandemic changed this because of their authoritarian governments and the war in Ukraine causing havoc to the EU. Now for me is Latin America. Costa Rica and Brazil are my top destinations.

​@@gugy68 the cartels are not everywhere. Like any good research, go do some scouting and recon. For me...I have interest in Queretaro and also Puebla. Also would like to see Guanajuato, but proximity to certain no-go areas makes me think twice. Further review is needed. BTW Polanco, Roma, and Condesa in Mexico City is really nice if you want a more developed Western environment.

Dirt cheap, good quality food, tons of cafes and restaurants, you'll be looked after. Petty crime can be an issue, stay inside at night, have a fake second wallet with some dollars in it if you get robbed.

I prefer Latin America especially since I have become fluent in Spanish. Also I guess I was lucky but I became naturalized as a Panamanian citizen 10 years ago. I still have my American citizenship but I haven't been back to the USA in over 10 years. I had to renounce my American citizenship to Panama but I still have it as I haven't formally renounced it at the American Embassy.

@@voice.of.reason wrong! i'm an eu citizen and i spend many months in different eu countries every year, no questions asked. 90 day rule doesn't exist for me or any other eu citizen. Only non-eu citizens.

But Mexico is also planning on introducing Central Bank Digital Currencies and a high surveillance police state.

curious, what are you main "if something happens" scenarios that keep you up at night? I would say there is a nonzero probability of (another) civil war erupting in the USA or at the very least more protest/unrest scenarios that really get out of hand. aside from that I'm not really concerned about much. if there is nuclear war, nowhere on earth is safe and being a holdout would probably be the worst way to go because it would involve slow death via radiation sickness vs instant vaporization. or maybe you are thinking along the lines of another Great Depression kind of scenario.
