Mine personal hair growth success, I adhered to this routine: Take morning sunlight every day for essential vitamin D. Eat vegetables of all colors. Applying paraben and fragrance free shampoo and massaging two times per week with hair oil by litttleextra cooconion. Important to keep in mind that hair growth is affected by overall health as well as circulation and diet.

My natural hair journey started when I was only 15 y/o and it sunk in when my gran-gran didn’t have $200 every weekend for my hairstylist and no one knew what to do with my hair but thru many restless days and nights researching natural hair, hair porosity and hair type, I’ve discovered not only did coconut oil work on my hair and scalp, if I rotated between 2 or 3 oils with my Daly routine products, my hair would grow and curl naturally.

It has no protein. Coconut oil penetrates your hair cuticle and goes into the cortex. Coconut oil repels water because it’s oil (oil repels water). What is happening is, the coconut oil causes hair to repel water from the inside out leading to DRY. There’s scientific articles proving coconut oil does not contain protein aside from trace amounts (next to nothing). Raw oils do not belong on the hair and that’s why many people complain of dryness with it; and when it can penetrate the hair and not be washed off, it creates a bigger problem that’s hard to fix. Coconut oil causes hair to retain its protein by binding to the keratin in hair, but you’ll also be repelling water and well defeating the made up purpose because yo hair goin break off anyway. Hair might feel good at first because oils are emollients; we associate the feeling of softness with moisture when that isn’t the case at all. Over time, especially for those that don’t strip the oils back off the hair, your hair starts to have buildup (and it isn’t necessarily visible all the time) and reject anything you put on it.

@king bril I did a bit of research and I actually found that the reason coconut oil isn’t the most effective oil to use for low porosity hair is because of how tight our cuticles are. The coconut oil takes too long to penetrate and eventually the oil will cool and harden, creating a dry, gummy stick film on hair. So to fight that you could jump into the shower with a cap on letting the steam relax your cuticles letting the coconut oil penetrate. I also found research that coconut oil doesn’t have protein.

L stands for leave-in (conditioner, that is). There are two types of oils: moisturizing and sealing. The former moisturize (obviously), the later hold in the moisture, or dryness. If you haven’t properly moistured with water, a leave-in conditioner, and a moisturizing oil you will be sealing in dryness if you apply a sealing oil.

My hair has been growing long & thicker since I started using coconut oil. I wash my hair with strength & nourishment shampoo, dry it with silk type fabrics and put the oil on it before I sleep. I wake up with longer thicker hair. I don’t know how to condition so I use the oil to keep my hair from drying after a wash. I repeat the process every 2 days. The results are fantastic. But recently I’ve started with cornrows for more growth so every two days I put coconut oil in the open sections to keep my hair healthy. It’s probably been 6 or 7 days so far, aiming for 4 weeks. I’m doing it for quarantine cause why not but any tips?

Oh wow! I know I have a different hair texture but its interesting how coconut oil was the one thing I used to restore my damaged blonde hair and also heals my skin on my face and body. I wonder if there may be a better oil to use or if its just about finding the right oil that fits each one of our needs? Curious to try other types of oil. Its crazy how if I scrubbed the oil into my scalp before bed, once a week, my hair started to grow thicker after having my damaged blonde hair in 2016/2017.

  • @melinatedthinka8210

@@ninersdodgersthunder Except he isn’t talking about hair shedding. He’s talking about how misusing coconut oil as a moisturizer made his low porosity (highest protein content in hair strands) made his hair have overload of protein (coconut is high in protein) which made it dry and brittle, thus making it more prone to breakage/hair-loss. So for hair care, coconut oil (as well as all oil) are sealants not moisturizer bc they’re not water based. His mistake (esp for his hair porosity) was using coconut oil without water/leave-in conditioner as that would make his hair dry with surplus of protein causing breakage.

There’s moisturizing oils and there’s sealing oils, for example olive oil (my favorite for pre-poos), coconut oil, avocado oil are moisturizing oils that will enter your hair strands and moisturize. Jojoba oil (my favorite to use after day one of wash day once it’s dry to make it last longer and keep the moisture locked in from all the products I’ve applied), grape seed oil, argon oil (this one moisturizes and locks in at the same time) these are all sealing oils, so if you apply them without putting moisture your hair will be dry because you’re locking in dryness. Same thing if you only apply a moisturizing oil like coconut oil it will evaporate really quick and come off if you don’t seal it in.

Im 100% sure you got an overly processed form of coconut oil you get at the local grocery store. What you should have done is research more on the several forms of coconut oil up for sale; the best form is “virgin cold-pressed” coconut oil. That is the most natural form of coconut oil straight from the coconut itself into the bottle, with as little processing and chemical imbalance that the rest of the products have. You see, the way to benefit from anything coconut related is to leave its natural state intact - that’s where the magic comes from. This form of coconut oil not only moisturizes skin but it has cured my dandruff and also made me grow back my eyebrows (I combined tea tree oil to it too). Hope this helps anyone!

You have moisturizing oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil and sweet almond oil. Then you have sealant oils such as castor oil, jojoba oil, and grape seed oil. They work bested when used and mixed together. You can’t use a moisturizing oil alone to seal you hair and vice versa. For people with low porosity hair like us, water based moisturizers like leave ins, butters, and thicker products works best to moisturize our hair while doing the L.C.O. method.
