Don’t use oil on dry hair! Oils are sealants so if your hair is dry and you apply the oil it will seal it the dryness and make your hair more dry. Use a spray bottle and spray your hair/scalp with water first before applying the oil, it will work better that way!

You are wrong, oils are always good and healthy for your hair. Not only does it moisturize the hair but it also fights off dandruff, repairs split ends, and improves hair growth. I experienced it myself.

Coconut oil is very good for length retention, it seals split ends and keep hair moisturize for days.

Coconut oil dries out my hair so I usually mix it with other products. Glad it works for you 💓💓

@Anja the anarchist. it doesn’t dry the hair it’s a sealant so basically the oil is locked in the ends and the scalp, protecting the hair but it’s best to apply water first then keep the oil in

It helps to bind protein to the hair so maybe some people may perceive the strengthening and stiffness as dryness but it doesn't "dry" the hair. Maybe they might need a mixture of olive oil or following up with a "softening"oil like olive or jojoba afterwards.

@@monember2722 oh no I never said it was drying I love coconut oil I used it in my hair for years I’m saying other people perceive it that way what I do is a mix the coconut oil with water or I just apply it to my scalp and ends but it’s self it’s great to use to during summer to protect your hair from the sun and promate hair growth texturism in the black community is bad sometimes because what the eye perceives that’s what the mind believes so your hair can be very moistured but just look dry yk

I’m allergic to Shea butter and the slightest hint of it causes itchy bumps and bold patches, so coconut oil is my bestie.

There are other types of butter yk, such as cocoa butter, mango butter, etc.. If you’re allergic to Shea butter you can try and use those instead, maybe they will work and you’re not gonna be allergic to it😊

@Elle Kay hello my pleasure! You should use Cold pressed Crede natural oils ! Organic virgin! Coconut oil! Do not use the coconut oil that u buy in the food store!!!! Check your stores that only sell natural organic products!! And don't use alot. But 2 times a day in the beginning massage it into ur scalp b4 bed time aswell as in day time but u can decide what works best for u . U will soon feel the itching will go away but plz u must use everyday don't skip. Wishing u all the best 👍

i have fine 4b low porosity natural hair, i used coconut oil for 4 years on my hair,my hair didnt grow and kept breaking off despite all the care i give it, stopped using it and now im retaining length and my hair is getting longer, coconut oil isnt everyone's friend

I can relate to this. I had the same issues with Shea butter and all products containing Shea butter. When I eliminated it, my hair and scalp were reborn. You have to find what’s best for you🤗🤗

Coconut oil had some protein and low porosity hair has lots of it's natural protein already unlike high porosity hair. so lot's of people with low porosity hair don't like it.

Can you use cooking coconut oil.

you should wash your hair before applying coconut oil cause the dirt stop the oil from getting in your scalp

I use to work in a freezer so when I applied coconut oil to my hair my hair would freeze up lol

Mix with egg leave overnight wash in morning and condition again

Hello is the coconut oil still working for you. I recently brought a jar organic virgin unrefined. Will see how it do. At first when I first started my scalp was itching when I would use it.so far it seems to be ok

Traderjoe name brand! Coincidence the same one I always use. Basically it's "Virgin"coconut oil. You don't need to get rigid on name brand though

You can use it as a leave it in. If you feel your hair is getting dry, try to mix it with other oils

I always keep asking like honestly, why is there a debate on whether coconut oil is good for 4c hair or not, like some people say 4c hair has good protein and coconut oil can kinda over kill or that some negative stuff, and then some people say coconut oil is good because it penetrates deeply and moisturizes N stuff, like which one is it good or not

i’m in the same boat as you right now, but from looking at different stuff i think it’s not about whether or not coconut oil is GOOD for your hair, it’s a matter of whether it will WORK for your hair; there are two different types (unrefined, refined) which will muddle reviews if people don’t specify which they used- however, coconut oil in general, like any other kind of product, won’t always work for everyone. depending on your hair texture, porosity, how you use the product, and even the environment you live in- something that works for you, won’t work for someone else. i hope that kinda helps lol

It's if you wet your hair and the water doesn't make it go flat real quick it's like a low porosity type but when it actually do get in it stays in so you gotta be carefull about keep putting in heavy nutrients and high porosity the opposite you know? Lol
