I really appreciate how informative your videos are and how you present the information. Thanks for all your efforts. I haven't trapped for 10 years. I'm now retired, I just bought some traps and supplies. As soon as I buy my trapping license I will be at it again. Pretty small scale, but that's a start. Watching your videos pushed me to trap again. Thanks much

Great video. I’ve learned so much watching your channel. When I first started, I was a scent control freak and was setting traps at places that looked good to me, not really paying attention to sign. Now, I’ve realized that you’re never going to cover your scent and I set 90% of my traps right next to definite sign. From doing so, i was able to catch 13 fox off of a friends farm. I am now targeting coyotes where I’ve seen not only plenty of sign but have just as many yotes as deer on camera. Based off of the things you have shown on your channel, I am super confident I can finally connect with an animal I have waited a long time to catch. Thank you for your inspiration, knowledge and wisdom on the trapline, and keep on catching em!

Yes! Thank you for weeding out the BS and laying down some solid knowledge. Keep it simple. Too many salesman and “experts” out there misleading new trappers. Trapping contests have been won on fried chicken-not the fancy baits and lures. However, I will say that when temps drop below zero coyotes are interested in more natural baits/food rather than something that smells interesting. Keep up the great content!

Just wanted to say thanks for getting me back into trapping. Between you and Scotty I’ve learned and refreshed a ton of good information that has payed off on the line. Haven’t connected on the predators yet but got 6 beaver skins boarded up plus castor and with fixings the meat is delicious!

Great advice ! As a kid in the 70's I remember Dad asking Mom for any meat from fridge or freeze for sets. All he had for traps were a few old 1 1/2 longsprings. Made bed covered with grass , leaves , etc. Meat covered near trap. He caught coons foxes even mink in these dry sets. He did sneak out some fresh chicken liver occasionally

Location is by FAR number one and is still something I seem to struggle with. I catch probably 75% of my predators on blind sets but what I do catch on dirt hole sets is mostly on muskrat and a little bit of straight skunk essence. I didn't know anything about fur handling and very little about trapping till I started watching ur channel. Thanks for the information and the inspiration to try new things.

I just started(this week)setting traps , I set 4 coon traps and caught 2 coons and was very happy with that. I had used some cheap cat food . My next attempt will be for some coyotes running on the land I hunt and had been wondering what to use for bait ,this was very helpful thanks .

To anyone with experience: tried this set. Used clippers and covered with grass/hay found at the sight. Today found a coyote had committed to the set (4 lbs. tension) and pulled out leaving just a bunch of grass in the set. Did the grass allow him enough wiggle room to get out or what?

I set traps the way my Dad taught me,"Set on Sign"! If you think about it deer hunting is pretty similar. The only difference is your attempting to catch deer moving during daylight hours. So you set up on the sign as close as possible to where you think their bedding cover is. During the rut set up where they transition from doe bedding to doe bedding. Good luck & God bless!

So kind of a hay bale, pipe dream, taco set. That's different, but if it works that's what matters. Beaver meat is my go to bait for any land animal, castor on most things. Just I'm cheap and like to use what I make myself. Even make my own cages that I trap with. Independence is a good thing to have, if I can't afford bait and lure, or you can't get it, good to know how to do without it. Thanks for the video Stu!

I watch and enjoy all your videos. I would like to mention for those wanting only coyotes use coyote urine to keep foxes away from the larger coyote traps. I know some use offset jaws and softcatch pads. Here in Kansas our fox population is down so they need all the help they can get. We need to make more bobcat coats. They're hell on foxes. As always good video.

I have a question about how do you get the anchor you use on your traps out of the ground when pulling a trap. I have only used rebar stakes and would like to change to the type that you use for ease and convenience. They appear to be very effective, but I don't have any experience using them.
