Thanks for this confidence boost. I’m a new trapper- set my first trap December 2, 2022. To date I have 64 trap-days under my belt. I’ve have caught 0 animals, but have learned a TON. Sooner or later I will walk up on a tight chain! Edit: I always remind my youngins, success is not killing or catching. Success is learning.

I have been at this game of Fur Chasing for over 55 years and you don't need to justify any excuse for not catching something within this clip. It is refreshing to see someone who is working hard and showing the process. Harvesting wildlife has more science in it than people think and "the Tube" has young folks believing that instant results are what life is about. Its like a 1000 coon season in Iowa - lots of Hard Work,,,,,,,,,, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, the tools and techniques, conditions, animal density and regulations have all been laid out though the years (by others) so this goal can be achieved. Lets remember who the audience is as my wife (the school teacher) would say so from this "old side of the fence" I am glad you made this. ............................ the mike

Put out 10 sets, catch 2 critters, then 20% of your sets had a 100% success rate. Not catching doesn’t mean failure. So many videos you say “well, 4th night checking and I haven’t caught ANYTHING so far, let’s go see…” and BOOM, 80% success with 2-4 different species. Sometimes they’re moving, sometimes they’re hunkered down. Getting out there and trying is success. 👍🏻

I watched about every video you put out last year because I was drawn for a bobcat tag. Hadn’t trapped since the late 90’s and ever caught anything in a foothold. I put out my traps the first day of first season. I had a few smart fox walk by and inspect my duke 550 and 650’s. I had my traps to close to my bait holes. About 10 days before close we had snow. I dug out the crusty frozen ice slop build up over my traps making a fresh looking dig. I caught my first bobcat the next day with a double front pad catch!!!!! I skinned it with help from you videos. Just got the hide back a few days ago from the tannery. I left the feet in on. It looks great! Thanks for the help. Hopefully I get drawn again next year for a cat! I have a log run just like the one you set up on. Shot a grey fox off if bowhunting last year and a coyote during deer gun season. I have quite a few coyotes on camera that still run on it. I might have to give it a try. I have frozen ground and snow so I'll have to load it up with peat and some salt if needed. The bobcat that walked by is about what the fox did with me. That's why I placed my dukes farther back from the hole. I would have loved to put in for your contest but only have a 3 coon cuffs, 4 550 os, and 2 650 os. I also didn't get drawn for a bobcat this past season which is what I got re started in trapping for. I'll have to restock up on some coon cuffs. It took 2 months to catch my bobcat BTW. We have to check traps here every day. I bet I could have bought a couple of cameras and it would have been cheaper than fuel with the 35 min one way drove each day to check. I have to save up for cameras as well.

I just did some research on those cameras they look awesome but the only bad part is they show a red flash that would scare every animal away in my Woods. Think I'll wait tomsee till next year if they come out with no flash technology. My deer and coyotes freak out now with the low glow on my reconex 550 and bushnell. They would run to the next county with the bright red light on the trail cam your using. I looked at the reveal xb no glo. Imo a better option but it has a slower Trigger speed and no 100 free pics.

I've noticed they usually won't work a set the way they naturally would if they see the unnatural "box with a red light" on the tree. They seem to be calm until they notice the camera then they freak out and take off. Keeping the camera high up and pointing down at a 45° angle helps.

I started trapping this year after watching coyotes chasing deer while on my stand one morning, I've been trapping since the beginning of Kentucky's trapping season this year. I kept having coons dig my traps at first so I got some coon cuffs and caught 4 or 5 good coons. That was almost a month ago and I have yet to catch anything worth catching. I've got coyotes and even the occasional red fox on trail cams walking by my sets and don't even act like they notice anything. I have had a few snapped traps in the trap bed but it's not been something that's happened often.

That’s what my cameras tell me, so when I saw you setting for one night I would have been shocked to see if you actually did get one not impossible but .. Love your content I learn alot!!!! If you ever make it to PA I got a ton and I mean a ton that need to go!! of fur for you to trap and you won’t have to sleep in the trailer, but it is cool!!! Tight chains!!!

I will need to use trail camera's as I just do not know if there are coyotes in the area that I set. Caught three coyotes in six day out of 12 traps. The farmer says he has them on camera but then he drove over my set so I pulled them.

I had a coyote walk right by a set last year. Got it on camera. Just did want to work it that day.

We have snow for 7 months every year and it doesn't lie or sugar coat anything for you, every refusal and avoidance is easy to see. It helps with the learning curve, but it's downright maddening sometimes...many times I've come to a set with a paw print on the still set pan 🤦🏻‍♂️
