why i disappear for weeks. // my struggles with depression, anxiety + PMDD

hi y'all ☻
Remember that everything I talk about regarding mental health is personal to my story and experiences - you may relate/agree or may not and that's okay! As I mentioned, I want my platforms to be open and authentic to represent what my reality is like as well as open the dialogue to help each other. I ask you to be kind in the comments not just for me, but for anyone else who may read them. Love you all ♡

I also suffer from PMDD and as a content creator it’s SO HARD to keep to a consistent upload schedule. I feel like 2 different people every month. Can very much relate. Wishing you well in your journey and please share if you find anything that works.

you are so brave for posting this, since it's such a vulnerable topic to talk about.. so thank you so so much for sharing your experience even though it is hard to do so. you deserve to experience your life fully and that is what you do whenever you can, so please never blame yourself for the way you feel when pmdd hits you. it is an illness, not your personality. you are doing the greatest job you can at accepting it and living with it. you are so inspiring to me for being this authentic and honest. even though you don't know me and this might be weird to hear from a conplete stranger, but i am so beyond proud of you for all of your strength. we are with you, reese. sending lots of love❤️

Thank you for sharing this, so many influencers and people online pretend like their mental health is unaffected by everything and is perfect, even during the pandemic (when it was perfectly normal to be panicky and depressed) and that honestly made me feel awful-even now when I’m beginning to come out of a depressive/anxious episode (it’s not fun but I managed to purposely go on a walk and sit in the park with a book today!!) Will forever support you, we’re all in this together ✌🏻

Saw a comment about "priviledge" , you know what I mean. This word have made me more miserable. I used to blame myself for feeling sad because people around me told me that I have everything in my life and so there is no reason to be sad. B.S. No one is allowed to tell me how to feel and if my emotions are legit. I love you Reese and I know you will fight it through like always. There are thousands of people on this platform that love you♥♥♥

I've just started watching the video but I saw PMDD in the title. This is so important to me, not a lot of people seem to know what it is and at one point I thought I was bipolar because it isn't that commonly known. My moods differ so much day by day it makes me feel like I'm going crazy. So thank you for sharing this reese, love you

I can't explain how relatable this video is & how comforted I feel. As someone who is also normally motivated, creative and passionate, I feel like I become a different person for at least half the month. I only really have 1 'good ' week where I feel neutral or actually happy and it's gotten significantly worse in the last 3-5 years. The most challenging part is the frustration that comes with not being able to stay consistent with my hobbies, my social circle, the content I wish to create...you're not alone. Workouts, long walks, giving in to comfort food, movies to clear my mind, deep chats with friends & meditation are no longer optional for me. They are mandatory to gain at least a little extra control in my life every month. Thank you for this video!

I have PMDD too and also used to think it was depressive episodes or bipolar before I found out what PMDD was and finally got a diagnosis. Gosh, so much that could be said but just know you’re not the only one who feels like you can’t live 50% of your life. That struggle is so real. Sounds like you’re doing what you need to do but for anyone else with PMDD reading here’s what’s helped me! - tracking my cycle so I know why I’m feeling what I’m feeling - getting enough sleep - regular exercise routine - time spent outside in nature - eating healthy whole foods - vitamins and supplements (I swear by the Flo gummies for PMS) - talking about it to people who love you. 💛

thank you so much for these tips!! i actually do most of them and definitely feel better from them, but it’s during the depressive episodes where it gets hard to maintain the habits :-( i just started tracking my symptoms (because i don’t actually get my period but maybe i can better predict when it’s supposed to be) and have another doctors appointment to discuss more options ☻

Reese, thank you so much for sharing this video! I know you said you hated it but honestly it is so refreshing to see someone share their mental health experience on the internet, especially one I really relate to. My birthday was in the beginning of June and I also spent the whole week crying and just very emotional. I've been going through a pretty rough depressive episode recently (actually all of 2021 lmao) and I really relate to everything you talked about in this video. I'm actually going to bring up PMDD to my doctor because right after you finished describing it and listing the symptoms I realized it's also exactly what I deal with every month. I hope you know you're not alone!

So glad I’m not alone in this fluctuation of depression vs. Euphoria, it’s such a struggle, still figuring it out but this helped me feel less alone xo

WOW! I got so emotional watching this video. I just randomly came across your channel and this is the first video I clicked on. I have never heard of PMDD until now, but you described what I have been going through to a T!! I feel like just knowing what I might have will help me deal with it better. I hope you are doing well. Sending love

This was such a comforting video. I just recently discovered your channel and I just wanted to say I love the way you present yourself and your honesty I don't have PMDD and actually didn't know about it, but I have weird mood swings the week before my period and it really bothers me how I can't control it so I can relate

just you making this video is so inspiring. Ive been feeling a little down lately and im not sure why. its nice to hear someone talk about struggles and challenges, it makes you realize your not alone. some of my favorites things to do when im down are think about the life that I want to make for myself. like when you feel like you can't do anything, plan what your going to do when you feel more like yourself. like plan how your gonna wake up early, or clean your room, work out, meditate, eat healthy etc. also im so happy you are doing better than past years and I hope things continue to get better

PMDD! Yes. It is so nice to hear someone else discuss this. I've only recently learned about PMDD and it really is so unknown to so many people. And so uncommon for a doctor to even mention it. But it explains so so much once you learn about it.

I just have to say thank you for being so vulnerable and open. I’m newer to your channel and first watched your planning my life around my mental health video. It’s rare to see people talk about this stuff and for someone who suffers with some messy mental health it’s really refreshing. So thank you for starting a conversation!

Thank you so much for sharing with us. I don’t have PMDD and I’m not going to pretend like I do but I do have depression and anxiety disorders and have a lot of similar mental health struggles. I’m not currently actively pursuing social media even though that is something I want to do mainly bc I have a hard time seeing myself on camera. I go through about a week a month where I feel like myself as well and then the rest I struggle to get through each day it seems. Im so sorry you’re going through what you’re going through. Your energy is so bright and wonderful. I relate to the way your brain works (what you’ve showed of it anyway) and I just want to thank YOU for putting these videos out. You’ve genuinely helped me combat my mental struggles so much within the past month. I’m with you through it all girly.
