Hi lainey Im thinking of making some youtube videos to help people. My story is so long to share through typing. but to sum it all up I put my hope and trust in Jesus and he saved me he gave me life! The most important relationship for every one of us is our relationship with Jesus Christ. Choosing to believe that he is who he claimed to be-the Son of God and the only way to salvation-and receiving him by faith as your Lord and Savior is the most vital act anyone will ever do. We want life. He is Life. We need cleansing. He is the Living Water. Here is a simple prayer if you have not yet given your life to Jesus and invited him into yours: Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, that you died on the cross to rescue me from sin and death and to restore me to the Father. I choose now to turn from my sins, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that does not please you. I choose you. I give myself to you. I receive your forgiveness and ask you to take your rightful place in my life as my Savior and Lord. Come reign in my heart, fill me with your love and your life, and help me to become a person who is truly loving-a person like you. Restore me, Jesus. Live in me. Love through me. Thank you, God. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen. I hate seeing people suffer when they dont have to go through it alone. There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain in your life that is holding you back from living an abundant filled joyful life. I share what I know because I want to help people. I love everyone and want everyone to know Jesus our lord and savior! king of this world creator of everything. Im not saying believing in Jesus will stop all struggles. we will still go through trials but with Jesus by our side we can go through these struggles with Joy and peace because God is with us! I pray you give your life to Jesus I know if you do Jesus will restore your life and bring peace and love into your heart. God Bless all my Love

Amanda Avila I have my days also where I struggle with anxiety still but what helps me is to keep my thoughts on Jesus think about things that are worthy of praise! I like to put on worship music every morning and pray, sing and dance 🙌🏻 when I keep my thoughts on God he strengthens me and gives me peace💜Read Gods word daily, pray and sing God is present with us always he’s right beside us every moment there’s no need to fear anything. No need to gear the future God is there with us and the moment we’re in now God is with us he is in control of our life.surrender your day to him and have God take control keep praying till something happens God wants us to be persistent and build our faith💜 fear is from the enemy he wants us to feel down and trapped struggling. We have Jesus within us we are over-comers so if we have Jesus who could possibly come against us? No one and nothing! Keep that in your thoughts when and if you get a panic attack while you’re experiencing it just say I don’t need to fear I have the power of Jesus within me helping me overcome. And no matter what happens to me I’m going to heaven so I have no need to fear death! God Bless you!

MEDICATION CAN HELP..it saved my life. Don't put off medication, anxiety and depression are illnesses just like any other illness. Your brain is a physical part of your body and you must treat it that way. If I had high blood pressure I would take medication for it, regardless of the "substances" it put in my body. Why should you treat a mental illness any differently? Do what helps you, but there is absolutely no shame in taking an antidepressant.

  • @lavacd2061

+Caitlin Burcham i totally agree with you. But should also mention that for high blood pressure well as taking medication you need to eat healthy and exercise. Same goes with mental illness, you need to think healthy, improve your lifestyle. It's only the combination that can give full cure.

Caitlin Burcham i totally agree with you ❤️ I am on meds becouse my physical symptoms were so severe and persistent . But ppl sometimes dont get it , they think it only affects your feelings and your mind and your body is highly functional. But if you suffer from clinical mental illness you have to treat it couse holistic stuff wont help sometimes ... u dont treat Diabetes with the help of holy spirit but you take insulin couse your body cant process the sugar . The same it is with mental illness . Your mind cant anymore process your thoughts and feelings and the stress . This is manifested with so many health issues that people who go through severe mental disorder know it

It's amazing how you overcame this. Medications aren't a solution but in some cases it is essential to go through the hardest stages. It is not about believing in it. It's science and it works. Of course the solution is beyond that. I'm really glad you could find you're way out. You are an inspiration.

This was probably one of the most real videos anyone has posted and I have watched on depression and anxiety. However, I do believe that pills can be beneficial and that they're worth a shot if you're really feeling terrible. Maybe not for everyone in every situation but depression and anxiety for a lot of people is also an imbalance in the brain which is what the pills help with to fix and once the imbalance begins to be corrected there's a significant difference just in how you feel overall. It's not mind altering or changes who you are or things like that. If anything, they will make you closer to how you should be feeling again. A lot of people think that when they take the pills and they "feel different" it's the pills changing your mind and how you think... No, it's the pills changing your overall mood and just taking away some of the clouds that were once there. It feels "different" because things aren't as dark anymore. I know for me I would not be able to overcome my anxiety and depression with just seeing a therapist. For me, there'll be days when I don't even know why I'm panicking or feeling upset I just do and when that happens, that's when the pills are useful. No, they're not the complete solution but they definitely help in the right situation in conjunction with other things.

There is such a stigma in society when it comes to mental illness and I'm thankful for the beautiful souls who are brave enough to share their story. I took a trip last year to Mallorca, Spain after years of not getting on a plane because of anxiety. I was so thankful that I overcame that and I wrote you an email expressing my gratitude for all the videos you have made on the subject of happiness because it got me out of my dark tunnel. Many of us, including myself, have experienced something similar to what you are sharing. I got emotional watching this. How amazing is it to have just a love that supports you and can help you heal yourself? I feel the same way in my own life and relationship even on bad days to feel so much gratitude for all that life gives you even in the struggle. I appreciate uou and this video. You continue to be an inspiration in my life. The interesting thing is I found your videos in 2013 when I just was about to graduate college and just found meditation and ended up finding the partner I have now. At the time of all this your vids inspired me to dream that I can create the life I desire for myself and by myself with the support of others of course and I can say I am slowly but surely doing it. You are truly my one and only inspiration, literally ask anyone who knows me! its been like this since I was 11 years old, (i used to love watching all of the videos you and leyla made!) im now turning 17! i love you so much and i follow everything youve said and ive changed my life throughout the years growing along with you. i feel as if we are so alike, like extremely alike. we think the same and try to be positive all the time just like you taught me. Honestly Mimi and Alex you guys are amazing!! I don't believe I've commented on any of your guys' videos about this, but the catalyst that led me to get out of a long battle of depression was yours and Alex's videos :) I was 13 or 14 when it started and I finally can say it ended 4 months ago (I'm 19 now)!! I'm still analyzing it, but I've never been this positive or happy or productive in years!! I just wanted to say that my journey to finding how to fight the negativity started when I learned the word gratitude from one of Alex's videos 2 or 3 years ago :) You guys are like virtual mentors and I can't be more grateful for you two. I was introduced to so many great minds because of recommendations by you guys and after reading and researching and finally applying I've seen results that I've never felt before :) I lost my mom at 10 and when she passed away it's like I stopped living as well. A series of events took place after that. Those events dug me into a deeper and darker hole. To escape I used to binge watch tv shows and KZread videos, never studied (but somehow made it to uoft) or interacted with my family and old friends. I realized there was no way I was going to end my life so I began researching about depression on my more upbeat days. I finally started applying various things I learned after going through one of the darkest depression phases I have ever been in. That phase happened a year ago. That was my last long depression phase. Then came meditating through headspace, reading the alchemist, watching Gilmore girls and finally realizing everything I actually have :) All of that plus wise words from people like Deepak Chopra and Oprah and journaling more than I used to, oh and moving into my own place alongside making slightly stronger connections with my family, I have reached to this point :) I'm 20 in February 2017 and I'm going from this person who's never lived before to this woman entering a complex, beautiful world 💗 thank you for all the advice you guys provide, I hope both of you know how absolutely inspirational and amazing you guys are 😊 God bless you guys

Hey Mimi, I have been watching your video's for a little while, they are very enjoyable! As a mental health practitioner I wanted to put it out there that Anxiety and Depression are different in their symptoms and treatment, though a person can suffer from both at the same time it is useful to differentiate the two. Most do not overcome or solve their mental health challenges but in time learn to recognize it in themselves and get better at managing it through their life. Just like meditation is a holistic treatment option and a wonderful way to maintain clarity and balance so is individual and group therapy along medication. The recipe of what will work is different for each and most need someone to help them figure it out. I don't like that our society provides medication at the first expression of emotional challenge as a bandage solution, but it does serve a purpose as part of a treatment when deemed appropriate or necessary. Often it is a long difficult journey to even accept that they have depression or anxiety. I wanted to express this so the way you shared your feelings wont perpetuate stereotypes that people have which increase their resistance to any treatment and instead continually suffer. In my experience many have strong convictions against medication and therapy but also don't have the discipline it requires, especially when they are depressed, to eat right, meditate, do yoga or even get out of the house for a walk so it becomes a catch 22 they get stuck with. Also, therapy is just like any other consumer product, many variables go into choosing someone or a structure. Often, I find that people need information and education on how to access therapy, make it work for them and evaluate the outcome. And finally, please note that there is immediate gratification that can come from opening up to someone and talking about your feelings but please don't feel that it is supposed to be helpful in lieu of "treatment". There are risks to doing that as well, if you don't get the feedback, help, or validation you need a person can become more and more vulnerable in their mental state and feel more alone. As friends and family we are not taught how to respond to someone who is really suffering or relate to what they are trying to share, much less know how to help them. You have a lot of courage putting your experience out there. What I would encourage people to do is to start somewhere, don't worry about the labels or if what you are feeling is depression or not. if you don't know where to start see if your doctor or insurance provider can help guide you by linking you with a Social Worker to discuss it with. I hope that you get someone invested in your care, but if you don't ask for someone else. There are many community agencies that can help guide the process as well.

I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO TALK ABOUT MEDITATION AND YOGA MIMI!! I knew because it's what helped me too and how monumental that solution is. And we are very similar people in terms of our personality - we both hate taking medication and are skeptical of quick fixes of that nature. One thing I found to be very hard is that everyone around me finds meditation and yoga silly, don't take it seriously, and they are all also depressed (so common in NYC it's sad). You try to help people but they only laugh in your face and make fun of you for being a "hippie".. it's so discouraging. I meditated heavily from 16-18 but the amount of condescending responses I got or how often it was brushed off made me stray from it, and I've seen the effects of not incorporating it into my everyday life. It changed my life SO MUCH. You're inspiring me to get back into it. Thank you Mimi and I hope you continue to inspire.

Mimi.. First of all, I am in tears typing this. I have never ever "met" anyone so similar to myself. Most things you say throughout this video, I can relate to. Almost 100%. It is honestly immensely refreshing to listen to someone who has not only gone through similar situations but also someone who functions and has similar feelings as yourself. The love for traveling, not believing in medication, going to therapy and not feeling like it is helping, anxiety groups (I did a retreat in the English countryside for 3 days and it was an amazing experience but didn't "save me", etc. I am definitely still stuck in anxiety.. I haven't gotten out of it. But I know I am on my way. I quit my job a month ago because I am planning on moving to London but because of my financial situation, I haven't yet been able to. Not working and not doing what I love is obviously feeding my anxiety as my life is not very structured right now. Alex is just an amazing human being. My ex boyfriend was truly so so so helpful and kind and understanding when we were together. I miss having that person in my life, I miss the support but I am also so so grateful that I got to experience that even if I don't have that anymore. Again.. I'm still struggling with my anxiety, I am so much better and I am such a stable person right now. Much more than ever. Thank you for telling your story, Mimi. It means a lot to me and to many other people as well. Sending lots of love and happiness your way! Xoxo Angelina
