*I'm a S.M. by choice as well. The dating scene for black women is SO HARD. I'm 41 & my L.O. is 7yrs old. Marriage, relationships & lifetime partnership wasn't happening so I adopted my baby girl when she was 1 1/2. NO REGRETS ‼️🥰 Time waits for no one and my baby is the best thing that's happened to my life*

@@coolrunnings1936 @@coolrunnings1936 no I did not. I think I would've been RUIN if he was in my life any longer then he was. 7yrs old was long enough. My mother was also smbc but used a known donor and he was "different and made me feel uncomfortable" so since I told my mom I've never seen him again and I'm actually happy my mother listened to me and trusted what I said.. He caused a lot of damage in that short amount of time. I overcame my trauma and now a single mother to two beautiful girls. A 2yr old and 2mon old. I work full time 3days a week as a Paramedic in NYC but live in Connecticut where it's cheaper. I work night shift so I can spend the morning and day with my children and when it's their bedtime and they are safe at home sleeping I'm a work while my children is a home being taken care of by my mother. So no I definitely didn't need/want him in my life. But my daughters have access to their donor. I have a known donor. I talk to him every other day and my daughter's facetime him whenever they want or whenever he calls. They know and will know their other side of their family. Only difference is that he signed all his rights to me, that's it. But thanks for being concerned. 💋

What's messed up is, I'm married. And I do love my husband, buuuut we've been through things that may lead to divorce. He wants to stay married and I do to. But I developed a thought during our time of feuding and I can't drop it! I just picture myself by myself & getting a donor and raising my baby alone. I now think of it daily. It just seems easier. Even tho I hear that it won't be, super torn.

I have been binging your channel because you make me feel so understood and welcome into this community! Your honesty, openness, encouragement, and genuine warmth is so refreshing. I just turned 25, and have my first appointment with a fertility doctor next week, in the hopes of starting to try to conceive in January 2023. I had an engagement with a childhood friend end about two years ago, and have tried to date since, but have come to the conclusion that THAT kind of love just isn't meant to happen for me right now, and that my real "great love" is meant to be my child. I am 100% at peace with that, and beyond ready to give that child all I have to give, but there definitely was a grieving process of letting go of the "ideal" that you & I both shared prior to going this route of "first comes love, marriage, then a baby." At the end of the day, no matter the backstory, I think we all come to the decision to stop waiting on someone who might or might not come into the picture, and who may or may not even be healthy to have in the picture. All of your points in this video are so valid and important, as always! Thank you for providing a safe space for everyone in this community.

Kudos to her. A few things to keep in mind… Just bc you have a spouse when you have a child, does not mean you will have one for the duration of their childhood. The majority of single mothers aren’t even those who had children out of wedlock, they’re divorced mothers, lol. On top of that, this child was actually planned and wanted by someone who is established and capable of providing. If you are a woman who is this well off (i.e., highly educated, white collar professional with financial and residential stability, etc.), you are already in a situation where you can provide much more than what the average man can to a two-parent household. So when you weigh what her child would be getting under these specific circumstances vs what the child would be getting had this she waited, this is more than likely the superior circumstance anyway. I feel like as long as a woman has the resources and lifestyle to provide, then it’s fine.

  • @sweetlachok
    @sweetlachok2 жыл бұрын

People who write that having such a child is selfishness and women think only about themselves. Do you think that all children were born on this earth because of what their parents thought of them? More often than not, people just wanted sex, not children. Mom gave birth to me after 40, although my father did not want to and thought that it was too late and they broke up. But she did it because she really wanted me. It was her choice, and I am grateful to her for having this life! And I grew up with this feeling that I was very much expected and I am very welcome in this world. If the child has at least one person who was waiting for him, then this is already enough. I want to support all women who give birth to children in this world. You give a person life! It is most important. Do not listen to anyone who criticizes! Your love is enough!

🤔 I see y'all enjoy creating the gang bangers of this world and the messed up individuals! It's a vicious cycle of self hate that y'all infect your kids with. Setting the example of broken homes to be normal, is a clear sign of mental illness. My children will never face that! I've learnt to never inflict the pain I endured of not growing up with my father, onto my kids.

@@coolrunnings1936 Do you live in some kind of ideal world? There is a different world around me, and this is not a perfect picture. I work at the Red Cross with people in crisis situations and I have enough psychological resources for this. Every day I see that there are situations a million times harder than life without a father. Millions of people are forced to leave their homes to save their lives. Our planet is not heaven. Every person has their own trials in life and growing up without a father is not the worst thing that can happen to a person. You are not immortal, at any moment you can die and your children will be left without you. It's just life with its pain and joy. The main cause of most mental problems is the meaninglessness of existence, all other causes are secondary

My mother had all 4 of my grandparents, plus 8 aunts and uncles and alot of cousins to help raise me. But I still would rather be in a household with both of my parents. You don't bring children in this world to teach them to be what YOU want them to. They are their own individuals. I’m a SMBC through adoption. Research is key. Do you have resources: financial, emotional and logistics. Can you pay for daycare, a babysitter when child is out of school because they’re sick, afterschool care for school aged kids, winter and summer camps. Do you travel for work and need someone to stay overnight? Do you have emotional support and a plan b if they disappear? I decided I could do it. My child is joyous. We talk about different families all the time. I’m happy and not stressed. If it works for you and your family, all are happy and well cared for, no one else should pipe in

This is such a random comment but I’ve been contemplating on becoming a single mom by choice and if it’s possible to be a single mom by choice and turns out that it is, I came to the conclusion that I prefer not to get myself into a relationship ever again because of my past relationships, and I’ve always to this day wanted a family to myself it seem selfish but at least I’m able to watch other moms reasons to it and to know that it’s not just me either, I hope this is understandable and sorry it’s damn near a paragraph

Honestly I’ll be 25 in a few months and have been thinking about having a child by myself, I do not believe it’s selfish I feel it is selfish to not hear anyone‘a feelings out if you are in a relationship and you want kids the more you wait the harder it is going to be for you as a woman I feel that if SHE was ready for a child then she was ready everybody in these comments are annoying people in America is corny and may keep their comments and opinions to yourself. If anyone is watching if you want to be a SMBC by all means take matters into your own hands and make sure your finances are together and please don’t listen to negative people :)

🤣 when you put your business out there and leave the comment section on, then be prepared for criticism. You're 25 in your prime and can't find a husband to marry you and have children the proper way? Instead you'd rather have you child half complete! Me personally, if I found out that my mom's used a donner to have me... when I reach a certain age I'll leave and she'll never see me again. My absent father let me down once when I was 15 and now I'm 30+ I couldn't care less if he died tomorrow, he means nothing to me. My mom on the other hand I'm buying her a house next year so her life would be easier! But hey you best hope you don't have a child like me! 😁

@Jaimee Hendrix yes she did but I know for a fact had my father been in my life I would be much further in my career choices. Even though he never grew me! we are extremely similar, in attitude, temperament, work ethics so he would have pushed me... where my mom just allowed me to figure it out. Meaning... my mom's can't teach me how to be a man. Nor can my uncles, mom's bf (step dads) or grandfather's! they can only show examples! They could never install discipline.

Lots of disappointing relationships in the past etc I've booked an appointment with the fertility dr because I am thinking about going down the sperm donor route. It has been an emotional process because all I have ever wanted was to get married and have kids in that order but life has not turned out that way. Thanks for your vid, I feel more confident and inspired to go through with my decision. x

Let me start by first saying congratulations. I literally was in tears watching this because I felt like you understood. I’ll be 34 next month and don’t have any children. I have a couple health conditions that would put myself and my child at risk if I were to attempt to carry a baby to term so I have decided on surrogacy. My immediate family is very supportive and lives within a twenty minute drive. Im single and I feel like the only thing missing is my baby. I have a great job, and house and car are paid off. Like you I was always in long term relationships but always seemed to get played. I had that same talk with myself and decided I wasn’t waiting to meet mr. Perfect to have my baby. Who knows when that is going to happen and I don’t want to be 45/50 taking my baby to preschool. My extended family ask when I’m going to have a baby(people seriously don’t ask anyone this question, you don’t know what someone is going through) but at the same time when I tell them my plans they say oh no you should wait you will find someone. They have even asked what if it’s a boy and he needs male advice, I laugh at that because first of all I have 4 brothers and second what does a women with an absentee baby daddy do when her male child needs advice. Of course my mom is my everything she says do what I feel is best and she will be by my side. I’m glad you did what was best for you. So happy for you.

The thing I worry about is if I will ever regret not having a baby with a partner to share in the sweet moments. I’ve talked to several women about this that had a baby by themselves and women that had a baby with their partner and they’ve all said that those moments are few and far between and that they really don’t make a difference in the big picture. My mom was a single mother by choice and I have a friend who had a baby by herself and they both have said that they preferred it that way because they didn’t have anyone else that they had to compromise with and when it came to their babies what they said went which is a good point I think lol.

I wished I listened to myself in 2016 and became or started my single mom by choice journey. I would have been content with just GOD and my child. These men do not love me and that affected for awhile in 2017-2023 after taking advice from a parent and having hope for marriage. I learned in 2017 that these men only wanted me to be traumatized, raped, sex trafficked, sexed out, trashed by people, mentally ill, rejected by the church, abused or used as a comedy piece. They see youre single, educated, a virgin, and in church and they just want to mess you up. They deceitfully pretended to be interested in me in order to have an open door into my life. Otherwise, they would never get the time or day. They were never interested in me or caring for me. Two of them were in church. Some men are just not trained to be faithful, are adulterous and already know their preference in a partner when they talk to you. Some are not interested in slim, "black", quiet and GOD-fearing church females. They will waste their time just for attention or to manipulate a woman for some carnal reason. I would have been content with the peacefulness of not being in a relationship and with raising a child on my own. I believe I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and I would have loved to do the single mom by choice journey with GOD. If youre anything like me, follow your gut instinct and dont risk your time on a man, especially if they have just repeatedly wasted your time up until you're in your thirties. Seek GOD and become a single mom by choice. Continue on your single mom by choice journey👏 Waiting on a husband is not worth it and can be emotionally unhealthy for you and your child, as seen in divorced homes.

I think it was a great decision. I am pretty much doing it by myself even though my child's father supports financially and watches my daughter 1-2 weekends per month. I feel like I am doing the bulk of the work.

I get what you want and that you are living out your dreams. To that I will not even speak. However, in as far as the children, do you wonder how they are going to feel not knowing who they come from, and not having a dad? I have noticed that it seems that even most illegitimate children and even adopted children often long to get to know their biological parent(s) and their families. I can say that after raising 3 children myself, you will not have a more difficult job than raising a child. And to think in this generation where mental illness seems to be growing, who knows how these children will respond as they go into teen years and see other children with their "dads". With that, I do wish you the best and your children. Take care.

Fair question but since we don’t know how life plays out, it’s best to do what fits our situation. I had both parents and so badly wished my mom left my dad sooner. I’m 30 and STILL highly dislike this man. Had to go to therapy because I had dreams of harming him. If the child feels so strongly, that’s their choice and they can make it their point to seek what they want. I’m a solo mom by choice and know where my donor is. My child can get in contact when she wants, if she wants but I’m instilling in her that God provides her with all that she needs.

That conversation will be held WAY before my child approaches me with those questions. He will be fully aware of the process I went through to conceive him, the donor is open to meeting him and I’ve also been in consistent touch with other families who has used the same donor and have planned play dates. 🤍

I get why you became a single mother by choice. I would wanna become a single mother by choice too. Men are a**holes and they are childish fr 🙄 and its hard trying to find good man that'll take good care of you and give you a baby but I'm tired of sitting around waiting for the right man to come along and give me a baby and take good care of us so I'm just gonna find a sperm donor and get pregnant by my damn self and have kids on my own 😘
