Firefox (and the Gecko rendering engine) is actually the only real alternative to Chrome these days. Because while you do have a few alternatives in Edge, Brave, Opera and Safari they are all using the same rendering engine (Blink) as Chrome under the hood. For that reason Firefox is more important than ever. (Technically Safari is using a different rendering engine, WebKit, but that essentially an old version of Blink.)

Containers don't do THAT much. Unless you run them as isolated profiles alltogether. What counts is baton passing (fingerprinting). Firefox sucks at that. What you really need is browser isolation. The container addon on Firefox hardly does anything. But, Firefox hides something more invasive. A really sneaky piece of s;;;t software. That's MITI. It's one of the reasons Brave browser was created.

My gut feeling is Mozilla is going trough something similar to what Apple experienced when Steve had left... the company is spread thin with too many products to maintain. You can think of containers almost as being different Firefox profiles - scripts in one container don't have access to data in other containers. Not sure what kind of threat you're imagining, but just using containers at all is an improvement, even if used poorly.

LibreWolf beats Brave at privacy and ads. I use to only use firefox until they went political along with several others, even Reddit came out saying some crazy stuff. So crazy how so many open platforms are starting to silence people. Driving normal people to go darker in Open Source products. I don't want the company's tracking how I live so they can figure out how to convince me to buy their products. I struggle with my will power on Amazon already.

The fact that the founder of Firefox and creator of JavaScript left Firefox to build a better privacy-preserving browser Brave indicates that while Firefox may be better than Chrome, it in no way protects user privacy as well as Brave. Firefox was flawed and that’s how Brave came to be

Hello Sun!! Great videos and content. Appreciated value. I was woundering how can metamask work with those settings. It would probably block it. I use trezor and great video you made on that. But if I connect my trezor to the Metamask extension on Firefox how would the settings be for it to work? Thank you in advance.

Firefox is a privacy nightmare. The settings you check in the menu to ensure said privacy don't actually do what they're supposed to. Take fingerprinting for example even if you check strict tracking protection on the desktop version go to about:config and look for privacy.resistfingerprint it will be set to false...soooooo......... As of 8/27/20 they have eliminated the about:config for the mobile version which basically eliminates privacy and being non monetized. Other privacy issues such as indicating in the settings you don't want autocomplete/search suggestions as you type is ignored (turn it off and try typing amaz it will auto complete to amazon.com), the push for you to add everything to top sites or home page and to sync your tabs all while burying addons under several layers of menus. And it's ugly. They've turned private browsing to the same purple as TOR to try to mislead users into associating it with TOR, among a whole host of other d!@k moves. Make no mistake they are out to monetize you, your privacy is the last thing on their list.

Feel you... but what better options do we have? Mitigating browser security vulnerabilities requires a huge amount of resources. Btw, Firefox on iOS is essentially WebKit... so I would avoid it for privacy. Actually, I would avoid smartphones in general for privacy. See kzread.info/dash/bejne/hnWEu9BvdqabpJs.html.

I just found your channel and LOVE IT...starting to binge watch! I'm a beginner looking to increase my privacy. I am switching to firefox for my browser thanks to you and your instructions on configuration. Id like to know your opinion as I'm stuck on something.I'm debating which of these 3 options is best. The first option being using 4 different web browsers, 1 for each (email, banking, shopping and general web browsing). Option 2 is using Firefox exclusively and having 4 different user profiles set up so essentially I'd be using 4 different Firefox browsers. Option 3 is to use just 1 Firefox user profile and create "containers". I love the containers option the best but scared it will make tracking and fingerprinting worse than going with 4 different browsers. PLEASE let me know your thoughts.
