Why Exercise and Diet Aren't Enough To Lose Belly Fat

In this video I explain 1. why the calories in/calories out approach is not efficient, 2. the impact of subcutaneous fat and visceral on weight loss, and 3. The benefit of detoxing in order to transition to a healthier plant based lifestyle.

    Detox is great for people who are starting a lifestyle change and need a jumpstart. I was a vegetarian for a decade and it didn't serve my body. The fake meats wrecked my hormones. Now I'm a pescatarian and can get a cleaner source of protein. The biggest and most positive thing I did for my health is IF. I have a 3 hour eating window and fast the rest of he day and it's done wonders for decreasing insulin, managing my weight (I do workout and lift heavy). It's helped me to easily keep my size 4/6 at 47.

    Agree ! Same food choices & IF plan at age 72 , 5'3" , size 4 . Walk my dogs 4 to 5 miles a day ( one long walk / hike , then a few shorter " walkies " ) . It's a lifestyle that is easy & healthy , both mentally & physically . I do need to add strength training exercises - warm weather & yard work will help w/ that . 🙂

    I started off with the fake meat, and it's not good to consume it every day. But then I learned how to create vegan meals out of real food. Like throwing mushrooms and walnuts in the food processor to create a "meat" especially tacos. Absolutely delicious. It was a long transition, though..😅

    As a natural bodybuilder who is a personal trainer, losing weight or helping my clients lose weight loss have never been a problem . As long as you are in a calories deficient and excercise 4 to 6 days, 1 hour daily. Eating clean cutting out all process foods and drinking lots of water. My meal plan is a fat loss plan Most of my clients lose 5 to 8 inches from the waist in the first 30 days.

  • @WilllG3

    @WilllG3

    He’s not talking about just losing weight. He’s talking about the “left-over” that’s still around the midsection (visceral). Most obese/overweight ppl can drop weight very fast (5-8 inches as you’ve seen) from working out and eating less but that still doesn’t solve they’ll still have access fat around the abdominal area. He’s saying you have to DETOX the body to lose that extra fat that tends to stay around even after someone has dropped weight.

    I was looking for comments like these so I didn’t feel alone . The title was click bait-ish . I am also a natural bodybuilder . He spends 60 percent of the video telling an unidentified audience that everything they’re doing is wrong and nothing they will do that fits conventional wisdom will be “enough” . Just title it “why detoxing can help with fat loss” . This would be misleading to the person who doesn’t diet and exercise and misleading to the person that is trying to diet and exercise . He fear mongers you to death then says “hey detoxing is the pathway” . Detoxing by itself is not enough either . So now what ?

    Too few black folk know about real healthcare, and depending on this sickcare they've been depending on and wholeheartedly depend on. The guy that married me, when I was cooking for him, even though I made very flavorful foods without using a salt shaker, he would salt up anyways. His mom and aunt both are on every kind of medication that's available to them, his mom can't walk without a cane, his aunt is losing her vision, they both are over weight, both frequent doctor's office weekly. I take no medication at all of any kind. Two years ago I passed a kidney stone and was told by the anesthesiologist that I needed to write a book on how to keep my numbers down and health up. What I've seen is that folk don't want to hear what it takes to get better, they love their awful way of cooking, and they love doctors appointments, bags of medication and hate the thought of exercising. My mom passed away for these same reasons.

    Agreed! The whole calories in/out has been picked apart. Reducing carbs, increasing exercise, and intermittent fasting has worked wonders for me. I lost 20lbs in less than 3 months. If you don’t reduce your insulin (by directly reducing carbs), you’ll almost never tap into your fat to burn that. Your body prefers carbs but doesn’t NEED carbs. But if you give it bread, sugar, pasta, starches, etc…it’ll just use that for energy and not burn any fat.

    Fat loss is predominantly about maintaining a consistent calorie deficit and while genetics and psychology undoubtedly a role, hormones and diet are mostly used as excuses because fat can literally be lost on any diet with enough caloric restriction. I'm not saying it's easy because it isn't, but confusing people with unnecessary BS about detoxing, hormones, 'magic' fad diets or secret training programs is only about marketing supposed hope to the desperate and gullible. By eating healthy, low-calorie but satiating foods and moving vigorously and more often, maintaining a caloric deficit is easier, but weight training to build muscle improves the metabolism and regular cardio also helps to increase the deficit, however if your chosen diet isn't enjoyable and sustainable it'll probably only work for a while, result in yoyo dieting and ultimately fat gain. Fat loss isn't hard, it's just hard work!

    Bowel movements are rough. You can feel it cleaning out your colon. Depending on your toxicity level you might feel tired for some time. Maybe some canker sores in your mouth. Some stomach cramping. But towards the end of the day if you have a king sized salad, you feel like a king. Do this for 14 days and your body feels very different.

    This doesn't work, that doesn't work, do this, do that. There are far too many opinions out there and how to lose fat. I'm down 50lbs as of last fall all due to being in a calorie deficit most -if not all- days, exercising 4-6 a day on top of hitting (or almost hitting) 10K steps a day, I've adopted to the low-carb/keto lifestyle and it all worked. It took time, patience and pushing through all the days I doubted I could do it. There's no quick and fix and exercise and diet are absolutely enough to lose belly fat.

  • @bryce253

    He didn't say anything new here. There is not a secret. What worked for you is exactly what he said. Eat clean consistently. Work out consistently. Intermittent fast consistently. Detox consistently. Why people fail isn't lack of what works. It is the lack of consistency and perseverance. It needs to be a lifestyle, not a quick fix to create temporary space to return to the same habits that got one there in the first place.

    You said the totally about it all. There’s just too much info on how to lose weight according to science and science has been known to be wrong. I am so confused on what to do: keto, low carb, no carb, high protein, low protein, high fat, low fat, can’t have fruit, plate method, portion method, intermittent fasting, vegan, paleo, nutritarian diet, low salt, no salt, food exchange… I am so sick of all the crap. Whatever method you choose to do, it’s still comes down to the fundamental facts, calories in and calories out. Like one person said, you can still lose weight eating 3 snicker bars if that equals your total amount of calories for the day. We know it’s totally not healthy to do and you will feel horrible eating that way, get sick and other issues. Thank you EM Pineda for helping me decide what I need to do. I have been searching and researching for weeks on what to do to lose this weight. I thought about keto, but it’s sounds complicated with all the do’s and don’ts which could harm you if not done correctly. Personally, I am not in favor of eating bacon with all the animal fat. Science told us we shouldn’t eat a diet full of animal fat. We should eat lean meats and consume healthy fats in moderation. I guess science was wrong about that so it’s ok to eat it now. I also notice too many chiropractors on KZread wanting to be medical doctors telling you about everything that is way outside of their field of study. I guess you can’t make money selling books, pills and clicking the like button if you don’t come up with something new on how to lose weight. I guess calorie deficit has played out. Bottom line, if they would be honest, you’re still practicing calorie deficit no matter what diet they call it. My problem really is not consuming enough calories (600-700 daily). I will figure out my deficit and track my calories, track my proteins, exercise, eat healthy food full of nutrients and drink plenty of water and get my rest. Thanks again EM Pineda . No I can move forward 🙏🏽🙌🏾👍🏾

    @@JesusAlways1st it also comes down to doing what you mentally and physically can handle. as i've gone on my journey i've learned to be more understanding and sympathetic to anyone who decided to better themselves however they choose to. there are days when i follow through on what i've chosen to eat and do for my body, and i still feel defeated, but then there are days when i'm not so hard on myself. and with all of this information online it's so easy to lean in too hard one way or the other ESPECIALLY when you can see some people are just being salespeople for their own line of thinking and aren't really focused on YOU as a person. i think overall it's just about eating as healthy as possible and being active. if that means a cheeseburger here or there or some loaded nachos, then so be it. as long as you feel that you are making the effort to lose weight or just to better yourself in general. we're all built different and we all have different journeys to go on.
