Lowering the rim won't make the WNBA watchable. People need to let that idea go. WNBA players do EVERYTHING at a vastly inferior level to male players. A few more unathletic dunks on a lower rim won't change their pathetic shooting, passing, or defense.

Right! They finally have an opportunity to earn more through CC joining, and what do they do? They just put her down constantly and attribute it to her only being white, or that she can only make 3's for the most part. SO WHAT! Are people giving Steph Curry a hard time for making so many 3 pointers? No, he's considered one of the greats. As per the usual, they are acting like teenage girls who are jealous and put other women down to make themselves feel better about themselves. Such a joke...

What craft? WNBA players play basketball at the same skill level as middle school boys. That's why nobody wants to watch them. They have been shitting on Caitlin Clark because she's white. If she were black, the entire WNBA would be celebrating and promoting her nonstop. I understand why you're pointing out the stupidity of the WNBA whining about a lack of popularity and then trashing the most popular player they've ever had, but most people who care about the WNBA would rather see the league burn to the ground than have it made popular by someone white.

Only know her from hearing the few (very few) women crying for her to get a signature shoe. Sad thing is Nike is so woke they will probably cave now and give her a signature shoe which will sell 1/100000th as many as Clark. And I’m not even a C. In that league I believe sexual orientation is more important than race. It's the elephant in the room people don't want to talk about. The typical male sports consumer doesn't want to watch a bunch of tatted up women running around carrying themselves and looking like men. It's unappealing to the majority of the market. A player from several years ago left the league partly because she claimed it was hostile towards straight women.

Livvy and her LSU teammates were able to make themselves the draw. The WNBA has never done anything to make themselves an attractive draw. And the one woman who can break that mold is already being dragged through the mud by the league because of ego.

Marketability is not based on accolades. It’s based on style of play. If you ask a person who watch the NBA or doesn’t watch the NBA and ask who is better Kobe or Tim Duncan, 7 out of 10 they would chose Kobe. Even though in terms of accolades Tim Duncan has more. Why is this? It’s because of the style of play Kobe played and the style of play Tim Duncan played. No one cares for Back to the Basket slow play. Ppl want to see Stephen curry type threes or Shaq type of dunks because that brings in highlights which brings in clicks from a non fan to a superfan. It’s the reason why Caitlyn game brings in more fans than Aja because of how they play the game.

This is the time for the WOMEN to step up and support their own. If we men are not going to do so, then THEY need to buy the tickets, the jerseys, the shoes, the products advertised on their broadcasts, etc. Women have money. They have the ability to support them. If they aren't going to do so, why should I? As Bill Burr has said, I have my own sports to watch. I'm not going to care about something because I must. I will care because I want to care. So come on, ladies. Show us that you can support your own. We believe in you!

I don't like basketball, raised on hockey and rugby, but I have gone to NBA games with friends, they enjoyed themselves and the atmosphere is weird to me, lots of cheering for the same play 10" apart IMHO. Same friends won't go to the WNBA games, claimed it is boring to them, I always wondered how much worse the womens version could be if the mens version was that boring.

We watch what entertains us. Be entertaining and we'll watch. Right now, most people get bored watching the WNBA. I don't know why there isn't the same enthusiasm for the WNBA that Women's NCAA basketball garners, but that is something the WNBA needs to work out, not me. For some, it may even be team overload. If you live or are from NYC, you have the Giants, Jets, Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Knicks, Nets, Yankees, and Mets out of men's sports. Most sports fans don't have time to root for a newer WNBA team when they are already rooting for three or four teams. The WNBA should have looked for location where a lot off pro teams aren't anywhere near and based their teams there where the populace isn't overwhelmed with pro sports already. But that would mean playing in small arenas since none of them have the financial ability to build their own arena.

The problem with the WNBA is that the players are nowhere near as good as their male counterparts, which makes it impossible for the vast majority of NBA fans to crossover. They lack the fundamentals necessary to interest someone with a mid-level knowledge of the game to tune in, and their refusal to lower the rims takes away any possible excitement brought in by them dunking and doing alley-oops.

just as a math thing, WNBA players are calling for a split of revenues not profits. There are fixed costs such as security, trainers, coaches, utility bills, travel costs, office staff, etc. These take a much larger share of WNBA revenues. The NBA pie is so large that the fixed costs can be neglected whereas in the WNBA they may reach 40 to 60% of revenues.
