Why Doesn't Hip Hop Respect Russ?

Ойын-сауық

Despite having many of the qualities that make for a celebrated hip-hop artist, Russ is quite the opposite. To the average fan, the name Russ is synonymous with cockiness and corniness, with his controversial statements in interviews and tweets getting more attention from neutral hip-hop fans than Russ’ music. Considering his commercial success, musical ability, and business savvy, the amount of hate Russ gets is truly wild and in need of a breakdown, which we’re here to give you.

Yeah I understand, but the rapper needs to know what kind of song or album to make in the studio, the rapper need to know what vibe he or she is authentically in in the studio. Therefore, rappers needs to be be selective with their beat choices. sure the producers get to play the beats and sort of "hypnotize" rappers to make the same music, but it's all up to the rapper on what kind of music to make.

Kinda like how the old aunt viv hated will smith because she was professionally trained and he just got it just because hes will smith. Him doing things all by himself is admirable but he uses that as a shot to diss others who didnt do all by themselves. He was putting out literally hundreds of songs while others got super stardom from like 1 song or 1 mixtape. Hes glad he made it but still bitter about having to take the long road compared to others . That's my opinion on russ

Earl has the catalog, Earl has consistent verses and critically acclaimed projects. When Russ gets the CATALOG cause no body in rap gives a fuck about how much you make. You're equating everything to fans and that's what tells me you don't understand the rap game. E 40 is nowhere near as popular as Russ but way more respected. You can't "look at all my fans" your way into respect, it must be earned through quality music. He doesn't produce quality music, he produces consumable music but not quality. Same reason why Drake will never considered the greatest rapper ever. His numbers are there but what the fuck do numbers mean when you only rap about how good you are at rapping, girls, and money. Sell out a world tour who gives a fuck if the quality isn't there. Sales don't equate talent and you're foolish if you think so

Love the fact you made this video and putting light on the topic. His response to Nadeska in your eyes may seem immature. But, when you really think about some guy making so many albums in his room to not get really any response and just all in all come from his background of trial and error and finally make it and arguably be one of the most well planned and successful artist to really ever do it... Such as owning almost if not all of everything he creates/does... As well as profiting majorly and not getting screwed by some bad deal... He is well calculated and a leader none the less of his own future. Would more humility help him out in the long run? Perhaps, but Russ does more good than bad. He promotes positive thought and breeds winners with his information he shares on social media. He wants others to try and do the best and not allow themselves to be sold easily. I really have never seen him being "arrogant" I always saw him as a winner who can back it up. I agree with his mentality, losers hate on winners. Winners just work and prove it. All in all, hes hated cause he doesn't put on a fake smile like everyone else does. He fights the norm with realness which others frame as "corny". The hate he receives always surprised me, but anyways just my thoughts if anyone even reads this. I hate the race factor, but I wonder if Russ was black if anyone would give him as much flak as they do now as a white guy... I notice it as a white artist, anything I create is corny. Even if it's coming from a genuine place of myself it doesn't matter, if you are white and rapping you are instantly a culture vulture. Oh well...

I just feel this idea you said is only shared among maybe 10%-15% of the listeners and people who comment (a large amount of listeners don't even say anything). While 85% of people who are commenting are just being hateful/jealous of people who for the most part are doing what they love for a job. Yet there are TONS of people who use rap/music and clout to just make money and ride a wave. As far as Russ being arrogant, I can't say I have... What comes to mind is when he talks about "written, recorded, mastered, mixed" but that to me is pride and something that yes being humble and letting your fans find that out on their own would be such an amazing thing to stumble upon. The fact that it is seen as a "Flex" (considering how he says it) I take it as a personal pride achievement,. I think it's okay... I do the same for some of my songs and I know how hard and how much time I sacrifice recording and mixing my songs only to get maybe a 100 views (which i'm happy for) ... now making 100 songs and posting them all and still only getting low views, I could see where once he made it he be excited cause even now I get down about myself. I couldn't imagine how he felt while he was making music and taking so long to get to where he is now. It's beautiful in my eyes and his *bragging* isn't enough for me to really feel sickened or annoyed. I just am happy for him to get his family and himself a better life, I hope to do the same for mine. That's just how I feel about it. I enjoy his music and his mindset for wanting people to be the best they can be and help themselves,.

I'm sure that it also has a lot to do with generational gap between what rap was and what it is now. I have 3 teenagers and will admit not all of today's hiphop is garbage I just feel it should fall under a sub-genre of rap because what was once lyricism & poetic writing is mostly beats, melodic tones and catchy hooks... While that again is not an issue, artists like Russ and Budden, seem to have a hard time categorizing what is to what was... Just a thought but love these videos in general, content and script ✌️❤️

MrTerftw he can be, you don't have to be from the streets or from America. Kanye, Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, none of those guys are from the streets and are highly respected. Same with people like Skepta and Stormzy who are British artist but to anyone that knows them are highly respected
