Queen was most definitely mid at best... best rap albums of 2018? A year that had albums like TA1300, care for me, Daytona, DiCaprio 2 and Queen was one of the best? There was only 1 song that was somewhat notable on queen and that was thought I knew you because of The Weeknd. This isn't even a "men hating on women" thing. The reason why she wasn't getting any radio play was because it was trash! Basura! Yes it went platinum, but didn't the bundles start counting after the first week? I'm sorry but Nicki fans are delusional. She hasn't released a quality body of work since pink Friday. I remember talking about this album with a friend who loves Nicki and even she said it was mid. If she took responsibility over the album not being good instead of beefing with everyone, then she wouldn't have been "black balled." Before you guys bring up the first week sales, please remember that revival did like 400,000 first week and everyone and their mother was shitting on it because of how trash it was. I’m not hating on Nicki at all. At her age she acts immature when facing criticism. Ever since complaining about her latest album not being #1 to beefs with other women like Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, and Remy Ma, Nicki is slowly declining as an artist. Now with the likes of Cardi B and Megan shining now, Nicki can’t take the competition anymore. Almost everyone doesn’t take Nicki serious anymore when you start caring more about being #1 which she did. She still fail to realize that being #1 isn’t everything. Despite Hip-Hop being a male dominate profession, Nicki has been the most talked about woman in this genre for a decade now. Yet nowadays she’s being salty all over social media instead of appreciating what’s she done to remain relevant as a woman. Not a fan of Nicki and I cannot relate to her, but this so call retirement is what she needs so she can mature a lot more as a musician and as a human being.

The issue wasn’t merch bundles. It was selling tour passes without set tour dates. That’s against the rules and shouldn’t have been counted for album sales. Also the reason Nicki charts well and then falls off is because she depends on her fan base. She doesn’t have GP support and doesn’t get radio play due to being blackballed. The reason she charts and falls off is because the barbz BUY her music and then the streams from just her fan base alone isn’t enough to compete with songs being play on the radio over and over.

Before I became a hardcore fan of Nicki I instantly thought that same exact way until she proved herself as not only a skilled rapper but a woman in a male dominated field. The fact that she succeeded for 10+ years, surpassing the female rapper shelf life in a male dominated field is extraordinary. This is something the Hip-Hop community never seen. To denounce Nicki’s impact is like saying the sky isn’t blue. I commend Nicki for being a minority inside of a minority, not only is she BLACK but she’s a WOMAN in a MALE DOMINATED GENRE that’s hella successful. I mean this woman has been in conversations and categories with women like Beyonce, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Adele, who are deemed the most successful female artists of this Decade....Nicki Minaj DID that shit!

By then I wanted my mf tickets ready to see her live front row for the 1st time and what does she do? Canceled the American tour. Then the vibe she had this year? Wasn't an attitude of succes if you ask me. Been supporting since before Pink Friday and everything that she did this year was a total turn off. Didn't think that would be possible ever, but it happened. Believe it or not Travis Scott is one of my top 5 favorite artists. I listen to Astro world for months even after it released. I’m a fan of all of his work/discography. I was just saying that Kylie has so much influence and I’m sure most of her followers bought tickets and his album in support of her. Plus everyone wanted to see kylie and stormi, since her 9 month social media hiatus. Kylie was/is his #1 fan so like a supportive girlfriend/baby momma she would post his albulm bundles and merch on her social media’s which have millions of followers. And I’m sure she influenced people because people want to be just like her. I’m not saying that Kylie made him famous. I’m saying he just wasn’t as popular or mainstream before Kylie (and stormi).

Saying Nicki went pop and faded from “hardcore rap” is ignorant. Yes, she went pop to become more mainstream and to have female rap as it’s highest peak that we see today. Queen (to me), is my favorite album of them all. “Sir”, “Barbie Dreams”(Which is SO underrated! If you LOVE Hip-Hop, you will understand why that song alone is one of the best if not the best song she has done in her career), “LLC”, “Rich Sex”, “Chun-Li”, “Chun Swae”, “Good Form”, “Maimi”, “Coco Chanel”(The most Epic song on her album!!! Two female legends from Trinidad on the same song!!! I was Hype through the whole SONG!!!)...Ahhh man...that whole album is LEGENDARY!!! And her songs that have more of a mainstream sound like “Bed”, “Majesty”, “Come See About Me”, etc. ...are before her time! If she had payola, this album would have been #1 in the US for months!!! And her album was better than Travis Scott’s. It was one of the best albums of the decade, BUT people were so ready to diss it. They went in hating it, so of course it wasn’t going to get the recognition she deserved. The US was ignorant to the album Queen, but the rest of the world gave her credit. She charted #1 in many other countries because (sadly) they know good music. Overseas they study Hip-Hop, and they (again...sadly) know our style of music better than us. SMH - Nicki and Lil Wayne are 2 of the few rappers in our country who write their own raps. 98% of the rappers now are Millie Vanilli entertainers who try to pass themselves off as real rappers. SMH
