Why does Nagorno-Karabakh matter to Armenia and Azerbaijan?

Sky's Diana Magnay and Military Analyst Michael Clarke assess the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh territory.
The leadership of the 120,000 Armenians who call the region home told Reuters they do not want to live there anymore because they fear persecution and ethnic cleansing.

Her emphasizing "supposedly Azerbaijani territory" is not appropriate at all. It is, as Michael Clarke said, legally part of their country.

When will Azerbaijan call out Turkey for the illegal occupation of Northern Cyprus?

There are 4 resolutions of UN to free azerbaijani's lands, so 30 years Azerbaijan try to solve the issue by diplomatic way, but armenian diplomats supported by France, USA and others ignore UN resolutions.

They forgot to mention that 30 years ago, Armenia forced its entire Azerbaijani population out of the country, plus out of Karabag and its surrounding regions (the latter didnt even have an Armenian majority, but it was still illegally occupied until last year.) More than 724.000 people had to march in the cold without any food or other supplies until they arrived behind front lines (IF they survived the massacres, hunger, thirst and harsh Caucasian winter.) Azerbaijan is wealthier NOW but back then, Armenia had its upper hand thanks to money from abroad. Believe it or not, I feel sorry for the ppl who choose to leave their homes now and had to endure the months of siege and blockades but the western media seem to forget or ignore that when the situation was the other way around, they brutally abused that advantage.

All true, but, no one mentions the 600K plus Azeri refugees created by Armenia in the 90s and its brutal occupation of NOT JUST Karabakh but also surrounding areas. And, the ethnic cleansing by the Armenians in the 90s. I wish both peoples love and peace but 1-sided reporting just sucks. Please tell the whole story.

Very accurate analysis. Great Sakharov once said: “For Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh is a matter of ambitions, for Armenians of Karabakh is a matter of life or death”

The same way that Russia is not allowed to have an enclave in Ukraine, the Amenians should not be allowed to have en enclave in Azerbaijan. No double standards allowed!!!!

Missing all the points. It is about the Zangezur Corridor, it is about Greater Turkey and its land access to the Turkic countries on the Caspian and in Inner Asia, and it is about the U.S. wanting into Inner Asia to blow up the Chinese Road & Belt from within.
