The atoll you showed is called Kiritimati and in Gilbertese all "ti"s are pronounced like an "s". So Kiritimati is pronounced Kirismas. The name is indeed derived from the English word "Christmas", hence the atoll is also called the Christmas Island.

French Guyana is fully incorporated into France, and so it can be said that France's longest border is shared with Brazil. Greenland is fully incorporated into Denmark, and so it can be said that Denmark is the northernmost country in the world. But American Samoa is not incorporated into the US and is merely a territory, and so it cannot be said that the US extends into the southern hemisphere. Now, if you were to include all territories, protectorates and commonwealths, the UK would to this very day still be located in almost every time zone. And several countries would simultaneously claim to be the southernmost countries in the world, as Antarctica is divided into slices like a pie, with all holdings converging at the geographical south pole.

The place shown on your map is Kiritimati, one of the 30+ atolls that make up the nation 3. You're allegedly creating an educational video, even being mildly smug about "most people not knowing so and so about Kiribati" and you mess up like this. Dude. Just delete this altogether, do research that's more thorough than reading a Reddit post and remake the video. This is disgraceful.

I'm sure they have no problem saying either "new" or "clear" separately but the inability to put the two together makes them sound like idiots. When they settled it they asked, “what’s the name of this town?” And the locals said, “it has no name”, to which the settlers replied, “That’s bananas”, and the locals said: 😮banana

Bit ironic how we're taught how to pronounce Kiribati and then the narrator immediately proceeds to mispronouncing Londres 😅

If we can pronounce Kiribati as Kiribas, then apparently we can pronounce nuclear as nukyular.

i have a conspiracy theory. They wanted more tourists. So they named their places after famous tourist destination. They will soon build airports and ik for some reasons some idiots might actually book the flight to kiriwatian london or paris or poland.

United Kingdom 🇬🇧: Pretty much let's ask one of my less popular, but past colony of mine, it's name is Kiribati. France 🇫🇷: Sure! I want to see a past british colony! United States 🇺🇸: Oh, if you two want to, I'll join then. Poland 🇵🇱: Also me as an additional! United States 🇺🇸: We'll agree. Poland 🇵🇱: Thanks! United Kingdom 🇬🇧: Also thanks for having the strongest country in the world with us. France 🇫🇷: Just like Russia though. United States 🇺🇸: Let's go now! United Kingdom 🇬🇧: Ok. This country is located in Oceania, 4,000km far at north east of Australia. New Zealand 🇳🇿: Wait, you mean my big brother? Australia 🇦🇺: I mean someone here in Oceania. New Zealand 🇳🇿: Oh get it. Travel to Kiribati: Kiribati 🇰🇮: Huh, why is that british colonizer of me going here? United Kingdom 🇬🇧: Hey Kiribati! Kiribati 🇰🇮: So what? France 🇫🇷: Can we take a look at your places? Kiribati 🇰🇮: Sure! Firstly, my capital city is Tarawa. It is named by "the passage" of my sub languages, Gilbertese. United Kingdom 🇬🇧: Considering your official language now is English? Kiribati 🇰🇮: Yes. But I have one village called Banana. France 🇫🇷: What?! How! Because that village is rich in bananas?! United States 🇺🇸: Actually, I just found out something. Last time when I ask 4,000 troops to do a nuclear test in the Pacific, they ended up calling the village Banana. Kiribati 🇰🇮: Btw, I also have 2 villages, named London and Paris. Poland 🇵🇱: What?! How those villages haved names of capital cities of France and UK?! France 🇫🇷: Well while that part was used to be my colony, I just gave it to UK. So my own way of calling it by French is "Londres." United Kingdom 🇬🇧: So, I just renamed it to to the english version, London my capital. Kiribati 🇰🇮: Also guys, I also have an unpopulated village named Paris as well. France 🇫🇷: Oh, that's just my colony in you that I didn't gave to UK. And that guy that named Londres lives in that southern lagoon. Also I like the vibe their, love summer. Kiribati 🇰🇮: Last one, another village at the south of Paris is Poland. Poland 🇵🇱: Wait, my name?! Kiribati 🇰🇮: Just because a man working in this village as a tool worker. And you know the reference of those. Poland 🇵🇱: My weapons! Kiribati 🇰🇮: Yes. United States 🇺🇸: He must be a chad. 🗿 THE END :D Sorry for long comment 😞
