i am so glad my college has laundry included with the housing payment. they have an app that tells you what machines are available and it reminds you to go get your laundry but it's ass so i just ask siri "HEY SET A TIMER FOR 35 MINUTES"

Same here. We have a screen in the lobby that allows you to reserve times. You can also do it via a web page, so you are not tied to only using some app. It's kinda handy, when the other option would be a pen and paper list.

The smart locks on my apartment have an app. They uninstalled the metal lock where a key would go and put in a battery powered touchscreen panel that connects to 5G, or your Wi-Fi if you want. You can lock and unlock your door with the app. Whomst asked for this man

My university has an app for laundry, an app for classes, an app for your school account, an app to order food, an app to track the busses, and an app dedicated entirely to allowing you to call security if you're in an unsafe part of the city without a bus route and need to be picked up.

There are workarounds, but every app and web service the school offers seems to have been developed and run by completely seperate people and they break all the time so a lot of the time you just have to figure out your own way around each of them. Don't have access to bus app and havent memorized the routes? Wait in front of a university building until a bus comes by and ask which buildings it's going to. Don't have access to the food app? Find a way to get to the freshman dining hall where you can use your id card to order. Don't have access to the laundry app? Find a laundromat you can drive to/hitch a ride to with a friend. And the university buildings have computers so you can access your student account on their website if you don't have a computer yourself. But the school mostly just assumes you do have a phone and computer and makes most things rely on them.
