Mine even does it on a regular recurring interval. Ill be reading a message or something and my thigh is still buzzing like I'm getting a call. Its actually pretty frustrating and i have to wonder if id known this was going to happen, would i have put my phone in a backpack or something else? Or down the front of your pants for permanent phantom sexy time.

Not exclusive to phones, I get the same thing with things like hearing a doorbell as mine is not very loud I often assume I missed some thing. Its all about the fear of missing a potential important event. Your subconscious takes a better safe than sorry approach. Why anyone who claims to call themselves a scientist would assume this is solely linked to phones and assume the cause is just out of compulsive need to connect to social media obviously has and agenda.

I hate phones with every fiber of my being. "Oh cool, an obnoxious little screaming device that loudly demands my immediate attention at the whim of literally every person I know, regardless of whether I give a fuck about what they have to say or even if I like them or not. Brilliant, I was just thinking to myself that my days filled with dealing with shitty people for hours on end would be so much better with even *more* layers of social interaction. Goody gumdrops, christmas has come early." I was a very irritable teenager...

I played my PS3 a lot until like early this year my hands would shake when I sleep or try to sleep. I thought I was developing parkinson's so I was scared as shit. This happened for months until I one day decided to cut off the vibration in my controller and cut down on games in general. The shaking went from daily to weekly, to monthly to gone!

So its not the vibration caused between stretching fabrics such as jeans or friction between the layers of clothes? I never liked enabling the vibration function of my phone so I don't get this feeling much. However I have 'phantom phone light' sightings, as I enabled LED notifications instead. I would suddenly think I saw my phone blinking and notifying me about a message when nothing actually happened.

...are you high? they gave the explaination given by the study. expectations of certain events makes our brains more likely to perceive them, usually by misinterpreting other stimuli like the feel of our clothing or muscles twitching/contracting. this is the honest way to cover it, scientific studies rarely/never give 100% conclusive, for certain, guaranteed results, some people either dont even watch the video then complain about it. or are HORRIBLE at interpreting what the video is saying.

A good way to overcome that phantom vibration is to over react. In example you get a phantom vibration tell your brain its happening every second but make sure to not check your phone. Your brain receives those pushes in your pockets or that slight breeze as a phantom vibration and because it is so used to it it is normal and the anxiety goes away to check your phone because everything is a phantom vibration to your brain.

Nope I haven't had phantom vibrations, mainly because I don't keep my phone in my pocket. I have however thought that the land-line was ringing and taken my earphones out or paused a video to find out it wasn't. Strangely there are certain songs at which it always happens at the same time during the song. So I guess that it's due to the notes that are played and if they sounds close enough to the ringtone of my phone then I panic and think the phone is ringing.

*What an amazing study.* -Fabricated by major phone companies at the behest of the NSA to convince everyone that their phones aren't vibrating randomly when their data is accessed for archiving purposes by the government.- *It's so cool and legit.*

i get them multiple times a day, but I don't have an unhealthy obsession with texting and I don't need the validation of having my status liked. I barely touch my phone, explain that!

I felt this quite a few times so I did my own investigation, sometimes it was a muscle twitch and sometimes it was the clothes fibers in my pants slowly dragging across my chair or desk. Every time I felt it I tried to reproduce it, sometimes successfully. The funny part is I gave up my phone and now my brain ignores it instead of letting these interrupt me.

I don't have a cell any more. Only at home. But i was at the b shopping mart.(wallyworld) and a long vibrate went off in my pocket. Long enough for me to ponder and look and say to myself what the Hell. I even reach and nothing was in my pocket.
