    In about 1924, in Cape Town, a large fish/shark was found to contain a living man who had been in the stomach of the beast for 3 days by the time he was released. He made a full recovery. 😊

    Keeping faith even in my time of despair. Health is fading due to my lupus and recently heart attack. I suffered from lupus for many years Because of my stents I can not get vaccinated. I was fired from my job Im sharing my story because this is really happening. I’m a single mother, with two boys. I barely have money for food! I don’t know how I’m going to pay my bills! But I’m walking with faith! In Jesus name! I Believe!

    I may be mistaken, but I believe that Jesus' Cross that we venerate is not actually the wooden instruments used, although they would count as holy relics, but we venerate His Cross which is the act of His sacrifice for the redemption of mankind.

    No doubt about it. But it's even sweeter than that! I've learned from dr. Brant Pitre that when reading the story of Jona in the ancient Hebrew, it reads as if Jona was not alive during the 3 days in fhe belly of the fish! So actually God raised him up on the third day... This makes the typology stronger, pointing to Jesus. And it totally makes sense in the light of Matthew 12:39 where Jesus answered the Farisees who were prosecuting Him:" and there shall no sign be given, but the sign of the prophet Jonas". This teaching is especially dear to me because my youngest son is named Jona :) God bless you and may this teaching enrich your faith as it did for me.

    The Letters from Home format gave us much more to learn in the lesson-type of format. We were able to see how the different readings for each day come together - how the Bible needs to be viewed from the whole, and not just one verse alone. I have heard that when the big fish expelled the man, he, indeed, was not alive, and that he came back to life, a sort of typology of the Resurrection.

    I watched an astronomical/archeological video discussing a clay tablet with some on-the-spot observations on it which were deciphered to show an incoming asteroid, including key stars from which it was possible to time the event. The path of the asteroid went over the dead sea and landed in the Iberian peninsula. Somewhere in today's Portugal, f I remember correctly.. This corresponds to the time of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. A totally unexpected find! 😊

  • @michaelmicek

    @michaelmicek

    2 жыл бұрын

    So you're thinking West African religions influenced Catholicism somehow? If not, there are other religions that share elements with Christianity and they are explained as actually having elements of truth. C. S. Lewis, for example, catalogs a number of these in his appendix to "The Abolition of Man". Admittedly it's more comfortable when talking about more philosophical truths. Nevertheless, in this case, honoring those who came before us is a natural human instinct, so to speak, and Catholicism gives proper expression to it.

    @@edouardmarcelin2374 okay, I would say that it's not the Church's fault if the devotion to the Saints is being abused (as I understand it, the may be other issues), but I can see how seeing it misused would make one suspicious of the thing itself. I'd also point out that veneration of the saints is not something the Orthodox church takes issue with. I'm sure they object to some of the saints the popes have canonized (and probably, on the other hand, reserving the right to do so to themselves) but not to devotion in general.

    "Worship", "Adore", "Venerate", "Revere". Apply whatever pretty words you like to it, but you are still placing the cross close to foremost in your faith. The cross is a graven image, carved and fashioned by man's hands. Not only fashioned by man, but used by Satan and Rome, to torture and kill our saviour, the only begotten Son of God. Here's a thing. God gave us all (mankind) a wonderful gift. Through Mary, He allowed us to share with Him, in the parenting of our own saviour. (Take a moment. Let that sink in) Satan and Rome killed our (Mary's) Son, and God's Son, using that cross. And the 'faithful in Christ' glorify that instrument? There is nothing 'glorious' about the tool that took our Saviour from us. Be at Peace...
