Why Can't I STOP OVER-EATING? (Kellogg's Doesn't Want You to Watch) 2024

Have you ever asked yourself, "WHY CAN'T I STOP OVER-EATING???" Your hunger and fullness are physiological mechanisms controlled by your hormones and your brain stem. You may have tried lots of "tips" and "tricks" to stop over-eating, but they never work long-term. That's because they are busy-work bullsh*t that never had a chance of working.
When you understand that WHAT you eat is what matters, no the size or color of your plate, then you are on your way to stop over-eating forever. Getting all of the essential nutrients you need from nutrient-dense food stops cravings, and turns off your hunger for hours.

Took the challenge. Started 8/1/20, weighed in at 262. Two more days remaining, weighed in today at 243. 63 yrs old, energy level incredible, needing much less sleep. Will go another 30 and then have blood work done. Amazing results, never hungry, rarely had cravings, fried pork rinds took the place of chips, and I cheated a little because I could not resist the tomatoes I am growing, which are about the size of M&Ms. Also used heavy cream and artificial sweeteners in my coffee/tea. Drank diet soda. Waist size 46 when started, now wearing 42. Thanks Doctor Berry.

Ive taken the Carnivore Challenge and based on the last 3 weeks of my life I can 100% vouch for this. I am completely amazed at how thoroughly satisfied I am and how I have zero temptation to eat things that I would normally not be able to resist. I have this empty box in my closet and I’m saving it. Why? It’s a good reminder of where I came from. I bought this box of 1.5 pounds of Belgian chocolates at Costco (huge box of chocolates) My plan? Bring out a few pieces of chocolate after dinner every so often. The reality? I did that for 2-3 days then I starting sneaking in one or two for myself. Within 1-2 days I had started eating like 10-12 of these things a day and I finished the darn box by myself in a matter of the next few days. This is 1.5 pounds of chocolate!!! Now that I’m eating carnivore, I’ve had chocolate that someone else brought to us in my fridge, in plain sight, for over a week. I haven’t wanted to touch it nor have I had even a nibble. It hasn’t called out to me and I honestly forgot it was in the fridge until someone mentioned it. Let me stress that before now I **NEVER** forgot about sweet treats that were in my house. They would haunt me and call my name constantly and I would obsess about whether or not I was gonna have a bite, bargaining with myself about how much I could get away with nibbling before anyone would notice, etc. This would go on until I ate every bit of it. Only then would my mind shut up about it-it made me schizophrenic!! So this way of eating has made an enormous positive impact on me. I’m sure I’ll add back in regular salads, and actually I’ve already started doing that every other day or so, but the basics really really work to curb my appetite and make me feel 100% satisfied.

@@BellaRosa55 Seven pounds in 10 days is excellent! Seriously! Don't forget, Sarah mentioned she had issues with fluids and she obviously understands at least some of her dramatic and wonderful weight loss is because she's losing fluids. Most of us lose a lot of fluids in the first week or two and real weight loss tends to go more slowly after that fluid loss, but who cares, it's not a sprint, it's a new way of eating. Plus, you might be half Sarah's size. :) Never forget that you're you, not Sarah, and everyone is different, so be proud and excited at your fantastic progress so far and keto on, baby! :) xx

I was doing ‘Keto’ on and off for 2 years - but I got seriously sucked into the Keto Replacement foods, like keto bread, keto cheesecake, keto icecream etc., I COULDN’T STOP eating these foods and in fact they lead me to go out and get the equivalent in non keto foods, thus on and off ‘Keto’. I realised I was addicted to carbs and carb look alike foods BIG TIME... Brain Fog and despair were my constant companions because I just couldn’t help myself get out of this vicious cycle... After 2 years of eating like this, out of desperation, I CUT BACK ALL CARBS to ZERO and ate exactly what Dr Berry recommended here in this video - within 3 days my cravings had magically disappeared, my brain fog had lifted and my mind felt crystal clear - it was like my brain had suddenly been awakened, I couldn’t believe it. It’s now 6 ½ months since I started eating like this and still I have no cravings, not even close to being tempted to eat keto carb replacement foods let alone the ‘real’ breads, grains, sugars etc., I eat mainly once per day, every now and then twice per day and I feel completely nourished and satiated. I cannot recommend highly enough that if you overeat and are addicted to carbs to try this way of eating. My first 3 days of eating WAS NOT DIFFICULT at all as I was not restricting, just happily hoing into the butter and meat whenever I felt like it (I looooove butter and I literally ate chunks of butter just because I could) - to be able to eat without restriction and have ZERO GUILT afterwards is absolute freedom - never once did I think ‘poor me, I can’t have my carbage...’ I eat less than ½ of what I ate in that first week or two because my body is satisfied with smaller amounts these days, the fact that I’ve lost 20kgs may also indicate why my appetite may be smaller, but mostly I think I eat less because my mind/body now believes that it won’t be deprived of nutrients and trusts that it will be well nourished when I do eat... so I am at peace with food and eating... NO MORE shame, guilt and self flagellation because I can’t control myself and constantly wondering what is wrong with me... I now know there is nothing wrong with me...JOY...

Hi Joy. A real eye opener for me was believing its OK to count net carbs and not total carbs. Many foods claiming to be "keto friendly" are not, especially when consumed in larger quantities. I still crave something sweet on occasion, but now realize I have to count all carbs.

***I had an appointment with my cardiologist today. We had a chat about diet. He wants me to eat the a "healthy diet". He does state the ADA diet is terrible, but is not happy that I am eating Ketovore. I Have food issues. I have been hospitalized for them in the past, so they are pretty severe. I have destroyed my health going up and down the scale, going from food restriction to binging. Ketovore is helping me to see food differently. I am seeing it as fuel. I am having to address my disfunction with it. However all these positive things still can't make my cardiologist just stop for a minute and really listen to me. To clarify, I have hereditary hypertension and a family hx of early heart attacks. I have 3 autoimmune diseases. (One is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis) I have severe allergies. many that are true allergies and others that behave like true allergies, but they aren't. For years I have been on the cusp of asthmatic anaphylaxis. I discovered this year that I have true wheat and corn allergies. Yet, my physicians all want me to eat a "balanced" diet and won't HEAR me. So I am treat myself and taking control of my own health. My Dr. Daddies haven no say. I myself am an LPN and believe it or not, my husband is a physician. Thankfully it was my husband who encouraged me to change my lifestyle and try Keto. Dr. Berry is helping me in this journey and I am so grateful.

I learned so much about myself and food and manufacturers and it's just amazing how much we are controlled by so many factors we don't even realize. But we can take control back. So again I'm proud for you and when you get discouraged or you think what was I thinking just remember it's one day at a time. By the way I have lost 65 lb and have yo-yo dieted my whole life and now I feel like I'm finally in some control The cravings are gone the depression is gone and I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and I feel so much better today than I ever have. My problem is all mental... I’m 45 years old now but when I was in my teens all the way up to about 35, I ate an ungodly amount of food; for example, I would eat two large pizzas in one sitting and then I’d be hungry again just two hours later! Now I’m older and my stomach just can’t handle that but mind still thinks I can. I’m not overweight, never have been and I eat as close to keto as possible but I still struggle to stop eating when I am satisfied. I do my best to be as conscious as I can to stop eating when I’m full but most of the time my determination to eat everything on my plate overcomes my will to stop. It seems simple enough but it really isn’t, at least not for me.

I did this approach and I’m on month 10 of carnivore eating. When I started I was a calorie restrictor with ‘healthy foods’, sugar addict, and at my ideal weight. When I started I had a massive appetite and I ate these foods until full. After 3 months I beat the sugar cravings, after 8 months my appetite regulated, at 10 months I gained a total of 25lbs and now at a 20lb gain. Weight is slowly coming down. I gained inches too not just weight. It went hand in hand. Now I’m dealing with vitamin deficiencies, I’m not absorbing my foods. Lips are chapped, dry, and peeling. My hair is falling out. I’m working with a carnivore nutritionist so hopefully she will get me back on track. Wish this was so simple for all!!

ABSOLUTELY! I have been eating a low carb/high fat diet for the past 8 weeks now. This is centered around eggs, bacon, fatty meat, fish including shellfish, liver and a little bone marrow. I also eat a good amount of LCHF compliant veggies and even small servings of berries once in a while. Before, I used to eat every 3 hours while awake (doctor recommendation!), and often would wake up in the middle of the night feeling very hungry. Now I do intermittent fasting with no effort. I typically do 18:4, but on occasion I find myself going 20-24 hours without feeling any hunger whatsoever. If feel hungry I eat. No portion control, but I get full and then I stay full usually until after my fasting timer goes off. My blood sugars dropped from average 154 to average 88, fasting 180 to 95, standard deviation 51 to 14!!!! And this is on a third of my original dose of insulin. Other effects include: - my reflux is all but gone and was able to stop Nexium for the first time in many years - my vision improved dramatically and waiting for an eye doctor appointment to see what's going on, but I had been told my vision was only going to get worse because of the diabetes - my blood pressure is much better and was able to stop one of the medications - mental fog, especially in the mornings, is gone

I know. My first thought was, this is crazy. Could this be true? How could I have been lied to this much? And how and why are they getting away with this? I even thought that I was eating healthy and I was poisoning myself. I kept listening to and watching Dr. Berry's videos and slowly began KETO then quickly went to carnivore. Today I am sugar free, grain free, very very low carbohydrates. At my highest I weighed 250. Today I am 165. I am 6'1". Went from size 42" waist to 34" currently and will probably go to a 32". I keep my (usually 2 and sometimes only 1) meals in a 6-8 hour window (hint: the smaller the time frame the better). I do not snack because I am not hungry. I learned that carbs are less filling. Meat is so satisfying. You just do not get hungry after filling up on meat. I watched in amazement as the weight melted away. I would look in the mirror and ask myself how can this be? Who in the world would believe you could eat this well, this much and lose weight? One downside though (or maybe not), You will have to buy a new wardrobe. New pants, shirts, underwear, everything but shoe size will change. God Bless Doctor Ken Berry. I am so glad I listened and kept listening. Also, there is a great support community around this lifestyle. And it is a lifestyle not a diet per se. Thank You Dr. Berry! You are truly changing and saving lives, including mine!

Dr Berry, I wish someone had told me this years ago. Oh, wait. Woody Allen did in "Sleeper"! I've been off grains and processed food for years, started Paleo in 2012. But I have SIBO symptoms and low potassium. I must supplement with 2400mg KCL daily to avoid palpitations, tachycardia, muscle cramps and fatigue. I also supplement 600mg Mg and 300mg Ca. Are you saying if I forgoe the few veggies I try to eat now, and only eat meat, I will NOT need to supplement the electrolytes I listed?? I'm game.

You are funny and I agree with you. My appetite has decreased about 70% and exactly as you described. I have lost 40 pounds and my type 2 diabetes blood sugars are almost normal. I think what helped the most was: retiring from stressful job, giving up processed foods/refined carbohydrates and eating the foods you listed. I eat salmon instead of sardines. I don’t eat breakfast any more. I stop when I am full now after consuming less food than I use to eat. Maybe I was a carb addict. All the “diet advice” I heard for decades is useless and harmful. My lessons were hard learned and you nailed it in ten minutes!

Started my Keto journey in December at 275 lbs. Today, I'm down to 218 lbs and I very much enjoy what I eat everyday. I do intermittent fasting, having only one meal a day. Sometimes I will eat a 2nd small meal within a 4 to 6 hour time frame. When I get stuck at a weight, I supercharge my weight loss by fasting a 38 to 48 hour fast. I have only done it 3 or 4 times and it has always worked. Also I have given up all the bad, man made, hydrogenated oils. I collect bacon grease and save it in the fridge, I use olive oil and coconut oil. I fry with avocado oil which has a 550 degree smoke point before it breaks down to bad chemicals or I use bacon grease, animal fat. I do take supplements such magnesium citrate, extra salt & other supplements to prevent cramping since I don't eat animal organ meat. I do eat a lot of low carb vegetables. Lately I have been eating more high omega 3 food such as salmon patties and I have been doubling up on omega 3 fish pills, krill pills to balance my omega 3 to omega 6 ratio. I believe this my help clear out any inflamation in my arteries which causes plack to be sent their to cause heart problems. I can't wait to see if I can eventually get to 200 lbs where I started sleep apnea problems which was the beginning of my weight gains 12 years ago. I have much more energy on the life change. I hope my story may give someone else a charge to get started. Oh, also, my blood pressure and my heart rate are surprisingly much lower now. I'm less stressed but I also give the Lord the most credit there, since I have been praying daily for extended periods of time.

💯💯💯 I remember the first time during carnivore I was truly satiated! To feel truly “done” after my meal- no more picking - going back for more .. I was done! It was such a relief!!! This may sound far reaching - but I personally feel like when I was walking around devoid of proper nutrients not only was I craving food and trying to fill that gap .. but it seemed to bleed into all areas of my life - a discontent and angst.. but since eating carnivore not only am I no longer hungry all the time - it’s like I can relax and be content all around.

When I stopped eating sugar, grains, and starches, I stopped overeating. Some days I eat more, or less, but very seldom do I overeat. If you are eating the correct foods, you will feel full and stay feeling full. Every once in a while I'll eat a lot of nuts, more than I probably need to, but when I do I feel stuffed and stay stuffed, and end up pushing my fasting window several hours later, so it is self regulating. What is surprising to me, after 1.5 years of this, is that family and close friends who have seen my fat loss and health improvement, and my ability to maintain and even improve, still they worry that I'm damaging myself.

Dr Berry, Your videos changed my life. I’ve struggled to lose weight for years. I was on high blood pressure meds. I didn’t realise the damage I was doing to myself. I was going for long walks, lost some weight, but still popping pills it didn’t shift my BP. I was eating in moderation😜😬 I started watching you around autumn 2019, wondering what is this man talking about? Eat more fat? He can’t be serious. This doesn’t make any sense. I didn’t take any action until January 2020. I stuck with it when my body was adapting. At the height of the lockdown, working from home, I stuck with it. I’ve read your book and Nina Teicholz‘s. They helped a lot - eye-opening. The good news is, I’ve had to change my wardrobe. I can fit into a suit I wore 23 years ago, and my doctor told me to come off the pills, or my bp could get dangerously low. I didn’t start off expecting these results. But I want to say thank you for the excellent work you are doing. I’m not going back. I intend to make this a lifestyle. LCHF works. You are a blessing to humanity. 🙌🏾👍🏾👊🏾😉

I am at around 1200 after dinner, and really have no desire to add anything else. I am comfortably satiated. The only difference was eating everything real. Nothing was processed and I have been pleasantly surprised. Now, I might feel that I need to worry about under eating but I have a feeling my body would let me know. SUMMARY of main points with timestamps (please watch the whole video for more details) Top 5 reasons we overeat: 1. Food scientist design unhealthy foods to have a hyper-palatable mix of unhealthy ingredients like sugar, grains, and vegetable oils with salt to make their foods addictive. 3:00 2. Marketing campaigns are immensely powerful in influencing your memory and emotions re their products. 4:10 3. We are taught by people we care about that certain foods like grains, fruits, low-calorie foods are healthy, but they are just as easy to overeat. 5:30 4. We wrongfully equate emotions like loneliness, sadness, wanting comfort etc with true hunger. 6:50 5. Chronically elevated cortisol & inflammation levels lead to overeating. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Box-Breathing can reduce stress levels. 8:15 The 30-day challenge - eat as much of these as you want, as often as you want and as eat as fast as you want to: 1. Eat beef, bacon, butter, eggs, liver & sardines. 10:00 2. Don’t eat any fibre 12:35 3. Skip breakfast. Eat when hungry will comfortably stuffed with food 12:45

It's all about healthy low carb/keto eating, and it's also totally independent, relying on people supporting their efforts by paying a small - totally optional - subscription to have access to a few private pages and a FB forum. That means the site does not, and will not, promote or sell any special foods, or medications. There's also search page on the site where you can locate low carb/keto friendly doctors. Sadly, there aren't a huge number of them shown on there... yet... but it's a start. :)

I weigh about 208lbs and 57 years old, I have truly been on every single diet in the world, Atkins, Mediterainian Diet, Low Calorie, Slim Fast, Weight Watchers, Grape fruit, Cabbage Soup, lastest Diet is Wondr, I have taken every Diet Pill on the market, and I am so tired of eating, and then worring about what I ate, giving up and starting over again and again, and again, and never being really full or satisfied. I am glad I found you Dr. Berry Thank You

relearn sadness is not a hunger cue. Yes a new mental attitude with healthy eating. I have adult kids who upset me, cant do anything about it so letting go and copeing by finding enjoyable activities has helped. Yes emotions make me think I am hungry. I grew up with neglectful parents and started eating for comfort, need to relearn this comfort and comfort me a different way with proper foods. I will try this healthy food way and not go drown my sorrows in chips with a bit of gratitude for my blessings. Love this post.

I've been on Keto for 1 week. I mainly eat meat and a salad or veg. Today I ate steak at 2:30 and shrimp and brussel sprouts for dinner. Barely hungry.

30 days into my Carnivore challenge. 95% Carnivore. (a few pistachios, mushrooms and broccoli on a few occasions to help with my cravings). I'm very happy with my results thus far. First, I have decided it's OK to "cheat" occasionally with a few nuts and healthy veggies in limited amounts. So that's not an issue for me. It has helped with my goal and therefore it's not really cheating. It's also healthy food when used on a 95% carnivore diet. My weight is becoming ideal, I am better able to control my sugar cravings, my energy levels are good, my blood pressure and blood glucose are normalizing. People say I'm going to die from this diet. But I feel so good and all my markers are getting better. I'm going to continue with my Carnivore experiment until my body tells me different. I feel good, I look good.

Dr Berry is my favourite KZread doctor. He’s always recommending treatments for the real cause of the problems and so many of them don’t cost anything. He’s also so blunt and honest and doesn’t skirt around issues. I’m so lucky to have found his videos here.

Dr. Berry, First of all, thank you for your content and all your videos. You're helping many people! Secondly, I've been hearing about consuming avocado pits for nutrition. Seems the common practice is drying them at a low temp in the oven or food dehydrator then grinding em down into a powder to then add to a smoothie. Some say this is dangerous, others say its very healthy as the pit contains up to 70% of the nutrients of the fruit. Idk if this is your style, but a lot of people would like some light shed on this subject. Perhaps a short video would do the trick! Thank you, again, for helping me along with many others in their health! You are a great person!

The big one in my experience is sugar, if you try to stop eating as much of it you start to feel bad. But if you can push through it for a couple days you are fine again. With me it was weird, it wasn't just the feeling of being hungry you get a form tinnitus along with it. Now I'm eating half of what I was eating by cutting out 80% of the sugar and don't feel like that.

This is EXCELLENT advice! One caveat though, if you are metabolically unhealthy or pre-diabetic you may have to eat more often until your body adjusts to this extremely low carb approach, and it switches to fat burning for fuel rather than carbs. That switch often takes a bit of time and that'll leave you ravenous until the switch. No cheating though, or else you derail your progress and slow down the switch. You'll know when it happens as you'll lose all cravings and hunger.
