I think there are different reasons why Din, Boba and Bane are bounty hunters, and they all approach it in different ways. Din is a bounty hunter out of necessity, whether it be because his clan needs resources or because he needs information to help Grogu, he never seems to actually enjoy it, he just does what he needs to do, and being Mandalorian he had the skills and equipment to do it, and can fetch a high price due to the common knowledge that Mandalorians are some of the most skilled and ruthless warriors in the Galaxy. Boba was a bounty hunter because it's all he knew, he grew up with the greatest bounty hunter in the Galaxy at the time as a father who he looked up to immensely, and after Jango was killed he was taken in by other bounty hunters. He never got over the death of his father, and because of that he became cold and callous; I don't think he ever really enjoyed being a bounty hunter, that's been made evident by his comments in The Book of Boba Fett, where he's basically said that he's tired of taking life threatening jobs from idiots who couldn't care less whether he lives or dies, and before he was dropped into the sarlacc pit and forgotten I think he also didn't really care what happened to him, he just existed, and that's why he was such a good bounty hunter. Being taken in by the Tuskens gave him a new perspective and something to live for, and I think the reason why he's not been as badass as we expected is because he's still trying to find his footing with that perspective. Cad Bane is a different story, he's a bounty hunter because he LOVES it, I get the feeling out of the three of them he's the only one who actively chose to be a hunter. He likes the lifestyle, the money and, most of all, the power he has over the lives of others, and he loves a challenge - when Din or Boba take on a difficult bounty they just get the job done without any fuss, Bane likes to make a spectacle out of it, devising elaborate plans to prove he's outsmarted his target, making sure they're scared of him and know what he's capable of before landing the killing blow. He savours every minute of it. Din approaches a target and puts it simply - "I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold." basically telling them "look, there's a bounty on your head, I just need to collect, you can come quietly or I'll do what I need to do". Boba does less talking, just takes the job and, as we know from Empire Strikes Back when Vader specifically tells him "no disintegrations", usually just takes out the target and then collects unless specifically told not to. Bane is a borderline sociopath, he hunts for sport, to him the more people that get caught in the crossfire the better. Any one who's watched the Clone Wars knows damn well that he was thrilled that Cobb's deputy chose to involve himself, his mission was clearly to give Cobb a warning, not kill him (even though he's clearly dangerous and capable of doing damage to them, the Pyke's know that Cobb has power over people and they want to scare him into keeping people in line, killing him could just make him a martyr), which is why Bane hit him in the shoulder rather than landing a lethal shot, but there was nothing stopping him from killing any one who got in his way - he could have easily just subdued the deputy in the same way or landed a single shot to the head, but he actively chose to unload on him because he enjoys inflicting as much pain as possible.

That's why I love Bane, there's no tragic backstory he's just a psychopath who will take any job for the right price and loves to hunt and kill, he doesn't care about the people who hire him, he doesn't care about his targets. He just cares about what matters to him, credits and a high kill count. And that's why I love Cad Bane.

I feel a lot of people aren't realising the actual facts. Both Boba and Cad Bane are older, much older. The reason Cad has lighter blue skin is because his species, the Duros, only live to be about 80 - 90 years old and in the midst of the clone wars, he's middle aged. The current era we're in is Imperial Remnant, just before First Order, which means that Cad Bane is considered elderly. He has no other profession so he will keep getting paid until he dies. Boba has been out of the game for a while now so he's going to be rusty, especially since his body took a massive hit in the desert but overall, he's perfectly healthy now. It is pretty much a 'We will see' scenario.

Probably because Cad Bane was around during the Clone Wars era from start to finish, which was one of the most hostile and dangerous periods in the galaxy's history and regularly fought against multiple Jedi, elite clone troopers and other high level threats while Boba didn't rise to prominence until after most of those dangers were long gone.

Perhaps your looking at it wrong. The show is called the book of Boba Fett. The feel of the show almost has a Conan the barbarian feel to it. So this is only the beginning of Boba's story and its some what of a under dog story. We were wondering how Boba was going to show his dominance in the galaxy, now we know. We still don't know Din Jaren's back story past Mandalorian 1 yet no one is complaining about him yielding the dark saber. Also, Cad Bane is a alien that has a longer life span then humans so his experience is pretty much better then any human bounty hunter. You can't just say Boba is being nerfed when technically Cad Bane is essentially more experienced and better then any human being that is alive at present day on the show.

I don't know why people were confused about the bacta tank, thinking he was dying. That was to recover from the Sarlacc pit. I think Boba is capable of killing Cad but it depends on the setting.

Lots of people who haven't read the comics or nothing from the EU still consider him the best, simply because it's the one they know best

Cad Baine. Is no joke. He's definitely the best bounty hunter. He's survived almost everything. Bobba Fett needs to be on his top shape. 😤

I haven't been super impressed with Boba Fett's depiction in his tv show. I'm not saying it is a bad tv show, I'm just saying Boba Fett isn't going to do a whole lot and will rely upon others which isn't necessarily a bad thing but the moment he has to face off against somebody (Cad Bane) without backup, he is likely screwed. but then again, maybe that is what they want us to think. @@andrewchapman2024 I really don't know but Filoni and Favrou had an opportunity to do justice to the character that started all the Mandalorian lore and from which Disney is eating and they ruined it. also it is rare that kenobi suffered the same, which is the need to deconstruct all male characters.

Also Boba went John Wick style in Mandalorian season 2. He's gonna be ruthless in the season finale..

Don't forget, Boba was declared completely healthy due to the bacta tank. So expect him to be at his best.

Honestly, for a casual SW enjoyer like me, who watched everything but barely touched legends, the answer is kinda not debatable. Unlike Boba, Bane was created as a legend and was treated as such, having numerous feats to support it, whalas Boba had an imposing image in first trilogy but suffered from little screen time as well as cartoonish end. Until Mandalorian I've only seen Boba as a kid in clone wars and little to nothing character in ft, and new Boba didn't seem like his old versions at all - which is not a bad thing though.

In Legends Darth Vader charged Boba with bringing in Luke Skywalker alive. Boba almost died but did manage to capture Luke for a time before he was rescued. He also faced off against many Jedi during the rise of the Empire. Boba has a fuck tone of experience but like you said it's all in Legends so as a casual watcher you won't see it. One major thing to note about Boba in Legends is he became Mandalore and lead the Mandalorians until his death. He's also the only man in the Galaxy to have survived 3 Sarlacc Pits.

Cad Bane was about 40 years old at the start of the clone wars and that lasted 3 years putting Cad at around 43 at the time of Revenge Of The Sith. The book of boba fett is around 5 years after the empire has fallen so that means its been 25 years since the events of revenge of the sith. so Cad Bane is about 66 to 71 years old at the time of the book of boba fett. Cad banes species, (Duros) have the lifespan of an average human so even if boba is somewhat injured Cad Bane is suffering arthrites and all kind of stuff like that. Basically he is far too old to be even close to his prime. thats why i think Boba would win Cad is just too elderly.

The wookiepedia says Cad is 40 at the beginning of the clone wars but also that Jango was his mentor. That kind of implies that Cad is at least 10 years or more younger in my opinion and I don't think Jango is 50 in the clone wars. The source of Bane's birth year seems to be a single book. I'm not sure I trust it. I think if we ignore a single book written in 2018 then Cad Bane could easily be 25 to 35 at the beginning of the clone wars. Making him 55 to 65 years old. A 60 year old Bane isn't in his prime but he was more than capable in his prime. He took on and bested a jedi master and knight at the same time. Jango lost to a single master almost instantly. Overall if they kill off Bane this quick I will be mad. He's one of my top 5 favorite characters. Pretty much second only to Ahsoka.

@@Grounders10 Cad deserves more. He's arguably the strongest and most able person in the galaxy including 95%+ force users. He goes toe to toe with 2 of the top 10 force users at once and wins. He also is interrogated and resists for an impressive amount of time by 3 of the top 5 all using the force on him at once. Overall Cad is top 5, at least, in terms of warriors in the galaxy. Then Boba just gives him the Ol' leg sweep.

Dead Cad Bane

The addition of Cad Bane was a great addition to the Book of Boba. Cad is a badass who can more than his own. His experience spells absolute trouble. I can only think of an old army vet vs a seasoned current member. They both have some serious skill but that vet has seen some stuff. Idk if this comment makes sense to everyone else but I just feel that sums it up well.

I think bane will win the original battle but boba will come back and be the one to finally kill him unless they make “the book of bane”😂😂

I think bane is more of a mercenary, hitman type. He has a little army. He’s not considered just some lowly bounty hunter asBoba is.

Honestly I know they needed character development but boba is too emotional now and appears weaker for it, he was always cold as ice in the books, even in his own head like cad bane was depicted in this scene, sure family and heritage matter to boba but he always brutally violent and didn't feel fear as much as the live action version. He's not invincible but his attitude an aptitude for violence ensured he almost always was

I think his personality changed after living with the Tuskens. Living in a tribe that needed to work together to survive taught Boba the value of community and empathy. Whether his change of heart will be a benefit or a weakness has yet to be seen. Cad Bane calls Boba a “stone cold killer,” so he’s either lying or not aware of Boba’s recent change in mindset.

I think him not having been clowned by a blind guy who didn’t even know where he was puts Bane ahead.

I'm 50, and was a kid around the perfect age during Boba Fett's "prime" (I was 9-12 between Empire and Jedi coming out). All of my friends LOVED Boba Fett and went apeshit at how awesome he was... I NEVER got it... what the eff did he EVER really do? (He collected Han's bounty after Vader captured everyone...) Then, in Jedi... when my friends and I were waiting for what was supposed to be one of the most EPIC sci-fi battles in history...HAN SOLO VERSUS BOBA FETT... (Kids back then were REALLY waiting to see this, you can only imagine!!!) We ended up being handed four seconds of blind Han Solo "defeating" the mighty Boba Fett via a basically Three Stooges / Laurel & Hardy gag... WTF??? Boba Fett, per the OG trilogy, was effectively a Kardashian... He had this epic image, he looked amazing (outfit was second to none)... but there was ZERO substance to him and he really did nothing (other than look good and act cool) to earn his reputation. Then, Clone Wars the series came along and we FINALLY met the REAL greatest bounty hunter in the Star Wars galaxy. (Tip of the EPIC hat to Mr. Bane.)

It's a tuff match for me, I want to give cad bane the win because of his intelligence and planning. But I just can't I feel like boba intensity and ability to think on the go would give him the win.

Not to forget that he had his ass handed to him by a up and coming fenec shand in the bad batch

The conversation on whether or not Bane is force sensitive is something I would like to see a followup on

You got to remember Luke was already becoming the third best Jedi of the time era between TPM and ROTJ. Plus he was about to shoot Luke when Han got him by luck.

I would love to see a “darker” ending with boba losing to cad bane I don’t think anyone would expect it to play out that way but would be cool to see. And then either Din or fennec will finish off bane or something or maybe Bane kills fennec and it enrages boba and puts him back on the path of badassness that we know and love him for.

The latter would be something quite expected.

Boba is aware of his physical condition deteriorating at least in the books and trys to fight with a forethought and more pre emptive violence to guard himself accordingly, falling back on his tech more and even going as far as to kidnap a Kaminoin to clone and grow new body parts to upgrade lol

Im tired of people violating boba fett and band wagon him. It’s called the book of boba fett not the book of cad bane. He beat him already what else he gotta prove.

I feel like if cad is force sensitive than he would be a perfect jedi because he is emotionless

If you watch episode 6 with subtitles on the [people gathered around Vanth are calling for a doctor, so he isn't dead. As to "better", well that depends on what you want from your bounty hunter - they all have their own skill sets.

Thank you for this excellent video and filling in the necessary backstory that I felt the Book of Boba Fett should have done. Some of us are casual star wars fans and although I knew who Cad Bane was, I couldn’t remember any of his interactions with Boba Fett, so this video answered all my questions perfectly. Thanks!

Anyone who challenges Cad to a duel is pretty crazy. It has to be like Fennec Shand, attack him quickly and don't give him a chance

Wonderful video! Definitely looking forward to the showdown betwween Boba and Bane. Your video highlighted well that Boba is declining from his prime but assuming Bane is still in his prime though Bane being significantly older...the wear and tear of their trade should make them both off their prime...

I love that the facial tubes Cad Bane has are to continue breathing if ever forced choked. Bet he lets off a blaster bolt pretty quickly while the attempted choking too.

I was impressed on how good they did bane in live action, still had problems with a few things but for the most part I was impressed

He ONLY got the drop on Van because he was distracted by his fellow Marshall. Other wise I think Bane would be dead going into the next episode.

All it takes is really Boba very thoroughly explaining to his incredible team (Shand, Mando, Cobb, and the Wookie) every possible thing he knows about Bane and his methods, then come up with a cooberated plan. Even Shand survived him, even nearly defeated him before. Don’t lie down on Bane by any stretch though, he’ll make it close in my opinion!

oh come on boba is the strongest mandalorian bounty hunter of all time in star wars he was trained by jango and boba best at armed and unarmed combat

Pretty sure the duel between him and boba happened. It just wasn’t aired. Looks like it might have been equal too. Boba has that dent in his helmet and if you watch the fight between Bane and Fennic in the Bad Batch you’ll notice he has a big metal plate on his head.

all i can say is either their fight is going to be two old men fighting or one of Boba's lieutenants will step in

Bane maybe be better in ways, but it was Banes vain approach that ended up killing him. Bane had no idea Boba was taught the Melee tribal use of weaponry and was completely obliterated out of sheer surprise!

If someone competent had run the sequel trilogy, we would have seen Cad Bane on the big screen..sad.

The deputy is definitely dead. I think you mean Marshal Cobb Vanth is still alive, shot in the shoulder.

Cad Bane once surprised and took prisoner Sheev Palpatine who was serving as the commander in chief of the most powerful military in the history of the Galaxy at the height of wartime. The next day he infiltrated a Jedi temple and stole the most highly valued data they had. He regularly fought multiple Jedi at the same time and either won or escaped. Boba Fett froze some scruffy looking nerf herder in carbonite and was subsequently pushed to his death on accident by the same guy a few days later.

I feel like the Book of Boba Fett has kinda tarnished Boba’s reputation as a ruthless cold blooded killer that we’re used to seeing? At least from what I’ve seen thus far

realistically, boba and din together still wouldn't stop cad bane. idk how their gonna make boba win this fight without some nerfing

It's funny that you ask if Cad Bane is force sensitive because my Son and I have been trying to figure that out. I think he might be a little bit force sensitive but he doesn't know it

He a Durro, so for his species Bane is actually ancient at this point in the storyline far older than Boba. The fight should be pretty equal at this point. Bane is an old man, Boba a late middle aged one

Just off the top of my head, Cad Bane never got beaten by a literal hole in the ground.

characters are only as strong as the storyteller needs them to be. the clone wars needed a antagonist who would keep reapearing, so he had to survive against very strong characters without constantly losing, otherwise he wouldn't be a credible threat . so it all depends on what the showrunners have in mind for him now. i suspect that he will serve a similiar role now, so he'll survive his encounter with boba. but if he's just there for this seasons finale, he might killed off and be portrayed as weaker than boba. given his badass introduction it would be a waste of potential

Totally amazing video of Cad Bane is a better bounty hunter then Boba Fett, fantastic job. I would love a Cad Bane series or movie too and it would be very interesting that he is force scentified too.

I honestly didn't know so many people agree with me that bane is a better hunter. The facts are just there, and those who want to think Boba is better can only bring up the non-canon, over-the-top, uncoordinated stories from legends. Instead of admitting they just like him because he's the original bounty hunter

Cad Bane is my all time favorite star wars character, I don't care how many evil things he's done, to be a bounty hunter taking down countless jedi, some being jedi masters is so freaking cool

It had been interesting to see Boba moping the floor with him.

Cad was Jango's only rival and respected him. He hated boba, the clones and killed many Jedi

This. Bane respected Jango and this is probably one of the few reasons why Boba wasn't taken down by him in the first place. As far as experience goes, Cad takes this in every area. In canon, Boba has had his ass handed to him by just about (if not) every jedi he has fought. Bane has taken down Jedi Masters and Knights with a decent amount of effort, but Boba has shown his lack of experience when it comes to taking down more skilled opponents - he wasn't even keeping track on the environment in Jabba's sail barge and turned his back to Han Solo and Chewbacca which lead to his downfall. The only category Boba takes Bane in, is physical strength and Armor.

But bane did beat a genetically enhanced clone of Jango who has heightened senses

I’ve said on several videos that Cad Bane might be a better bounty hunter, but maybe Boba just got the upper hand in the duel. I think Darth Vader might’ve preferred Boba because of his past with other clones as Anakin.

I think Cobb Vandth might have had a shot (or more likely that neither him nor Cad would have fired) had it not been for Deputy McDumby

Truth! Bane is the Best, while Jango Boba and Mando have their Beskar as a crutch. Without their armor they are inferior to Bane. IMO. I really don't want Bona to kill Cad. I rather Cad be defeated but escape or they kill each other.

The more I think about it the more it makes sense why the book of boba fett has been set out the way it is. With the first 4 episodes focusing on the main character and these last 2 episodes focusing on other characters to set up the mandalorian season 3 more than likely. This season or series finale is definitely going to be epic for sure!

I’ve watched Fett get his ass whooped this whole season so I don’t need much convincing

When as old as Cad I become, move that spryly, I will not.
