I’d always assumed after where she ended up in Clone Wars that Barriss became an Inquisitior. But not that she was Seventh Sister, as the two look nothing alike. Also she and Aahsoka would have recognised each other when they fought in Rebels S2. The only other one was Eight rother, who kept his mask on, but that he was a brother not a sister meant he couldn’t be Barriss.

What she did was wrong but ultimately she was right about everything. She even admitted to fallen to the dark side briefly and a jedi is always fighting the dark side even from within.

For those who don't know Lin the Inquisitor that Barriss knew was the one in Obi-Wan Kenobi live action. In episode 6 of tales of the empire most likely takes place after the Obi-Wan Kenobi live action. So that is why Barriss looks older. Because it is 10 BBY. She would be in her thirties if not older.

Ahsoka realized this when she left the Jedi Order and started to make friends in the under city of Coruscant . From there that was a clue that Ahsoka could see where Bariss was coming from when people tolk her that the jedi doesnt care about the small things on Coruscant. But before TOTE, I really had no real care for Baris, but after seeing that she had become and inquisitor and redeemed herself, the inquisitor storyline was my absolute favorite. @The Stupendous Wave - 👏great video essay, I like your analysis as I didn't process the arc so deeply but I did enjoy it and was fine with her redemption although I saw Star Wars Theory pan it hard. As the Star Wars Saga shows us not everything is so black and white with all characters and its a bit of grey as with most people in life as well. They all begin to understand sometimes after years of reflection and growing in wisdom that positions they once took or held onto firmly were wrong and then seek to change after growing through life experiences they go through.

Barris never hated the Jedi, she just hated the Jedi Order for what they became during the Clone Wars. She saw that the Empire and the Inquisitors employ methods much worse than what the Jedi had done especially seeing the way her friend Lynn was acting. After multiple disagreements she saved herself realizing what she wanted to protect wasn't what the Empire was protecting. Years later as she went on to be the healer she wanted to be she meets Lynn again and not only helps a family get away but to save Lynn from the Inquisitors and the Dark side that corrupted her.

You bring up a good point with the Inquisitors. They were never built to be Sith. They weren't even built to serve the Sith. They were simply force users built to hunt Jedi and those who could wield the force. Their dissolution with the Jedi way along with the threat of death is all they have. They were given fear, loss, and hatred. This made them somewhat attractive to the Dark Side. Yet this call is not enough to make them truly powerful with the Dark Side. The Emperor didn't want them properly channeling and becoming powerful enough with the Dark Side to be a threat to him. He only wanted them to find Jedi. This turned out to be a failed experiment. As only a few truly embraced the Empire. Those who did weren't really a threat to a well trained Jedi Padawan, as demonstrated by Ahsoka. The Inquisitors weren't balanced in the Dark Side the way a Sith is. As long as the Jedi controlled their fear, this was normally enough. This is why Vader ended up having to go after so many Jedi, once they were located.

Whilst the Tales of the Jedi is great, we all knew Dooku's destination, in Tales of the Empire, we didn't know how it would play out with Barriss. For that reason, the TotE was very much more emotionally impactful. I believe Faloni has focused on Barriss and given her closure to make amends for his treatment of her in The Clone Wars over a decade ago. The character of Barris was used by Filoni as a Narrative Foil, to polish and shine Ahsoka in The Clone Wars. This is Filoni's Apology, Love Letter, A Thank You, he is paying Homage to the Character of Barriss that he 'Sacrificed' in the Clone Wars to enhance and define Ahsoka, to build Ahsoka into the character people know and love. If not for Barriss, there would be no Ahsoka as we know the character today. That is the purpose of a Narrative Foil in literature and Film. And this is his way of making amends. Personally, I think the final episode of TotE is the best of all 12 of these Anthology episodes. It is on par with anything Studio Ghibli has produced in terms of emotionally driven storytelling. It is beautiful, tragic, absolutely heartbreaking. The best content Lucasfilm has put out for years.

Barriss became a straight up murdering terrorist that went to any lengths to accomplish her goals; even going so far as to murder her pawns and frame her friend to cover her tracts, and ranting about the jedi at her trial. Now cut to Tales of the Empire and she is in prison and she's practically a plebe who was caught out past curfew for how she appears and acts. One of the underlying themes of the Star Wars is that the Dark Side is quicker, easier, more seductive; but once you go down that path it will dominate your destiny and is not so easy to abandon. This is not to say that Darksiders are irredeemable, but that it is not so easy as all that. And the whole: "Be thankful you're not a jedi anymore" line from a clone trooper really burns considering that approach didn't really work for Ahsoka Tano at all. Morgan Elsbeth is the contrast to Barriss Offee in that she does not seek to redemption but doubles down on the hate, fear, anger etc. But one gets the impression that this was something she could have easily chosen to do, almost like choosing what suit of clothes to don in the morning. Fair enough, as redemption is firstly about choice I guess. It's just that it seems a little too pat. We are treated to her traumatic past to help humanize and sympathize with her. The people she was oppressing in the Mandalorean are shown to be fickle and uncooperative, causing her to double down on her draconian practices. Even Barriss Offee's mentor in the Inquisitors, a thoroughly hateful woman who seems to have embraced the Empire and the Dark Side whole cloth, is strongly implied to be on the path of redemption at the end. All well and good, but I can't help but wonder why it only seems to be the women darksiders that are shown to be mislead, temporarily duped, gas-lit, and have tragic back stories, but most of the male antagonists are irredeemable a-holes with no remorse or pity; or even are pitiable. I know Star Wars has traditionally had a lack of female roles, Princess Leia notwithstanding, but recent strides with characters in The Clone Wars and Rebels have moved to alleviate this, but this goes a bit to far towards pandering imho.

I’m just annoyed she got stabbed. Because it either means she is dead, and that leaves us with zero opportunity to explore her further in any future projects, or we'll have to put up with people losing their minds over another stab victim surviving "too easily".

I want to say I was right and correct from everything I saw on Star Wars canon Anakin Skywalker after he died and became one with the force combined fused merged both lives of Anakin and Vader into one reaching his true full potential power achieving true perfect balance in the force fulfilling the prophecy of the chosen one destined to bring balanced to the force, and lastly, becoming the most powerful, strongest fastest smartest character of all time in the history of Star Wars, always and forever what we saw and the TV show of Asoka and we will see in the next season

In Barriss Offee's place, I would have left the Jedi Order and instead strive to follow the will of the Force, not the Jedi Dogma or the corrupt Senate. Barriss could have left the Jedi Order. No one is forced to stay in it, not even Anakin. Heck Dooku left. He didn’t have to go to the dark side. He could have used his wealth and position to start his own Jedi Order, one that only serves the people of the galaxy and follows the will of the Force.

So it was Vader that singlehandedly killed the Jedi Survivors, cause ain't no way any inquisitor killed any jedi. But even now they're making so many jedi survive order 66, I don't even think Jedi were hunted. Order 66 happened and then they focused on the Death star, project necromancer, and later the rebellion. Jedi just became like an afterthought like "oh its a jedi? call lord vader and he'll get rid of them"

What I don't get is why the clones didn't target her like they did Ashoka? Ashoka was no longer a Jedi before the purge, but the clones turn on her anyways. I didn't really care for a redemption arc for Barriss. I would have thought Vader would either kill her or taken an arm or leg.
