I never met him, only from his videos on KZread (I’m in California); but I miss his flamboyant personality. So unique among the lamas. That alone tells me he was an authentic guru. I miss him. May his tulku return swiftly. 🙏🌈

🤣🤣..what you said about Tibetian lamas is so true. I love them and I can say this for a fact because my town is just next to one of the biggest monastery in the world. For them it's just a car. And it's necessary to travel because their town is deep inside from the main road. 🤣

The Story of King Pasenadi of Kosala While residing at the Jetavana monastery, the Buddha uttered Verse (204) of this book, with reference to King Pasenadi of Kosala. One day, King Pasenadi of Kosala went to the Jetavana monastery after having his full morning meal. It was said that the king had eaten one quarter basket (about half a bushel) of rice with meat curry on that day; so while listening to the Buddha's discourse he felt very sleepy and was nodding most of the time. Seeing him nodding, the Buddha advised him to take a little less rice everyday and to decrease the amount on a sliding scale to the minimum of one-sixteenth part of the original amount he was taking. The king did as he was told and found that by eating less he became thin, but he felt very much lighter and enjoyed much better health. When he told the Buddha about this, the Buddha said to him, "O king! Health is a great boon; contentment is a great wealth; a close and trusted friend is the best relative; Nibbana is the greatest bliss." Then the Buddha spoke in verse as follows: Verse 204: Health is the greatest gift, contentment is the greatest wealth, a trusted friend is the best relative, Nibbana is the greatest bliss.

@@atashakgem I am not a realised individual, so this response is just this lay person’s understanding. The fourth noble truth is the 8 fold path leading to cessation of craving. If you follow this path then the world and your life become one. This means the death of ego but not in a nihilistic way. Life is not renounced, in fact you will live out of compassion and concern for those around you. Any interactions with sense pleasures are still felt bur not pursued. Freedom from craving and want. At death you get an eternal holiday.

Sometimes it's very difficult to figure out if a Lama or Guru is preaching the truth or is just making excuses for charging a lot of money. Lol. The case of people like Sogyal Rinpoche just makes me doubt how much of this is spirituality and how much is pure business. Spirituality should be available to all who needs it. But these days Gurus only seem to be interested in people who can pay them a steep fee. So of course this type of extravagance would sow seeds of doubt in the common man's mind. And quite rightfully so.

@@dragonfly686868 He passed away on 4th September 2019 at the age of 53 after a long (unspecified) illness - he used to have the stunning physique of a catwalk model, I don't know if his weight gain was a result of his illness, or his illness was a result of the weight gain - it doesn't matter, he was a great teacher & I look forward to him being found again soon.

Hi Fabian Warren, H.E. Tsem Tulku Rinpoche entered clear light on Sept 4, 2019. The official announcement may be found here: www.tsemtulku.com/parinirvana Prayers for Rinpoche's swift return have been composed and are available here: www.tsemtulku.com/swift-return We encourage everyone to engage in these prayers as often as possible, not only to create the causes for Rinpoche's swift return but also to create a connection with Rinpoche, so that we may directly meet with Rinpoche's incarnation and continue to learn and practise under him. Thank you

Hinayana, mahayana, tantricyana. Different methods to spread darma. The simplicity is inner renounciation which is not having or not having. Not what they have, but how to use what they have. There's no difference on high level. Let the heart free from grasping outside.

Well, i think he means that extravagance can be used as bait to lure unenlightened wealthy person to develop Dharma and reduce their clinging to their wealth and become a gold hearted wealthy person, not necessarily into monkhood though..
