Why Is This Happening To Bronny James?

USC fan here that actually watches the games, way before Bronny got there. As of right now, Bronny is NOT NBA-ready. From what I've seen, he doesn't look 100%. He only shot once in his most recent game against UCLA with only 14 mins of play. Casuals will call this an "excuse" but none of them know how serious a heart-condition is and will call him a "bust" no matter what he does. Those opinions don't matter. Also, ironically, casuals are having too high of expectations from him. He is NOT his dad, he plays completely different. He's not a pure scorer and he's nowhere near as aggressive as LeBron was his age. He's a defensive guard that is a good passer. A Rajon Rondo type of player. Great on defense, average on offense. In my educated opinion, his best option is to stay at USC for 1-2 more years, let him show us what he can do when he's at 100%. This season is a wash for him and the team in general, so I take it that he has newfound determination to prove the doubters wrong next season. Is there nepotism at play? Of course, Bronny can't control that his dad is arguably the greatest basketball player of all-time. So it's obvious that the spotlight is gonna be on him, you're a fool if you think otherwise. But you are also just a big of a fool to think this is Bronny's ceiling. I'm telling y'all right now, stop box-score watching and actually watch the games. Lots of basketball doesn't show up on the box score, and there are more than one way to impact a team than just scoring.

You’re comparing him to Rondo? He’s a point guard who can’t dribble. He passes it as soon as he crosses half court, because he can’t shed his defender. He’s a catch and shoot player. He’s a point guard who can’t lead the offense because his dribbling is below average. A point guard who can’t even get past his defender in college, is not talented enough to in the NBA. Ronda was great off the dribble and penetrating and kicking. Two things Bronny can’t do. You’re the one who hasn’t watched him play.

"Why are they doing this to Bronny James?" Doing what? Is Bronny a victim now? He averages 5.5 points per game and makes 5.8 million in NIL money...only because of his name. He may have some residual physical issues from his cardiac arrest but I highly doubt they're the difference between a 5.5 points per game scorer and a one and done first round NBA pick. I have nothing against Bronny but, minus his name and father's influence, no one would even think of him as an NBA player at this point. If he's drafted this year, it'll be pure nepotism and it'll make LeBron look awful. It seems obvious that Bronny should return to USC for his sophomore year so that he, and the rest of the world, can figure out whether he's a legitimate NBA prospect. That's only playing by the rules that other players play by...but other players don't have a father who is a billionaire with unlimited power.

I think people need to stop conflating us not wanting an undeserving player not to make it to the NBA nor for nepotism to not prevail as, somehow, hate for Bronny. We don’t hate the kid. But it cannot be overlooked: 1) that sports is the greatest meritocracy and should remain as such. If Bronny isn’t good enough to make it to the NBA then he shouldn’t make it. 2) nepotism and cronyism has no place in sports. 3) LeBron is indirectly putting undue pressure on Bronny for his own ego to be able to have the prestige of being the first son and father duo in the NBA. 4) LeBron is encouraging expectations that may be too hard for Bronny to meet and may be setting up Bronny for failure.

LeBron (before): Look at my son, I wanna play with him in the NBA. LeBron (now): Stop paying attention to my son! You're smothering him! Funny how his tune changed when his son doesn't even perform similar to what most prospects would be at his level/age. No matter the circumstance, he still isn't NBA ready yet, whether that's his fault or not is of no consequence. Also, 6:03 is just a James-family type of moment - completing a wide-open dunk with flashiness while being down 23 points, what a James-family classic.

18 months atleast, which should give him the time to recover and become a good player and complete college. He has the height athleticism IQ of a mid tier defensive guard. He needs to take care of his health. Finishing college or turning pro in Europe should be the goal for him. He already has the NIL money. From a neutral perspective he needs to set his own life up rather than do what Lebron needs. He can get drafted this year on a bad team, lose all season, not get played then get cut when Lebron retires. Or put the work in. Spurs or Toronto would be good places for him but I dont know if Lebron would go there.

For as much as ppl say LBJ is the most hated on athlete, I think the discourse around his son and how commentators have handled it speaks volumes. Marcus Jordan was clearly not an NBA prospect, and no one pretended like he was. Bronny has not shown a lot of NBA upside, but saying he’s not an NBA player is almost taboo, and any criticisms have to be said with qualifiers and disclaimers. It’s telling

These spotlights and unnecessay attention on Bronny has to stop!!! Dude is just innocent! Bronny's sole existence, CURRENTLY, is to help LeBron James make history. Bronny knows it and that's why Bronny has not even showed up for any interviews. Bronny can then retire and inherit billions of dollars from LeBron, in which 99.9999999% of the people in this world can never make!

Those odds look terrible considering they said they’re looking for the right development situation for him if he enters this year. The Cavs, Knicks, and OKC are all competing in the playoffs. OKC hit on lottery picks so that’s different but the Heat are the only team in that list with a development culture and they’re a playoff team too so lol. The Lakers is just a storyline, going there would not be good for his future. I think the Spurs should be in the convo too but “Lebronto” coming full circle makes a lot of sense for him.

I wanted to see the storyline play out, an NBA legend playing with his son. Unfortunately the undebatable truth is, if he didn't have the name, he wouldn't be on anyones radar, to prove that, look up some of the other college prospects with the same numbers. He's not an NBA player, I wanted to see the Bronny to Lebron assists but it just won't happen. People have bias because of his name, like I said he wouldn't be talked about, at all, if not for the Lebron James son angle.

going from what we’ve seen so far, id say at best he would be a roleplayer on a winning team if youve watched 1 usc game you’ll see bronny being a true point guard. Bronny still has plenty of time to develop into a play making 3 level scorer

I would take a chance on him with an undrafted roster spot at summer league. It's so crazy to me that people actually expect him to be a successful professional basketball player when that is such an insanely softy goal for anyone including children of insanely rich NBA players. Even if you are the most motivated guy with the highest level of infrastructure available doesn't guarantee you anything.

im looking at his stats and ive watched a fair few games, and i see that alot of his averages are possibly a result of the limited amount of shots he gets in games. he has a majority of games with less than 5 shots a game. he has one game i see with a terrible shooting performance despite shooting 7 FGA. really bad game. but so many games are just 0-3 1-3 type games. Having so many limited shots and not enough opportunity to get a rhythm is affecting his play even seperating from the cardiac arrest. Although, no excuse for his 3pt shooting tbh, hes missing them and alot are open shots because of his percentages. but hes great attacking the rim and off the dribble and i dont see him getting as many shots up as his teammates and some would probably just say its cause hes not as good, and yes for some no for others id reckon. I think his shooting needs to improve big time but his overall ability is still a very good prospect esp with his defensive ability and IQ. could definitely start an nba career as a backup guard on a team working on developing talent rather than competing
