Debatable for her story.

Her story is much better in Star Wars legends and she didn’t even die but there is one similarity between her story in canon and legends that she gained redemption in the end.

I think that making these is quite important since even Wookieepedia includes TCW in Legends biographíes, making it rather hard to get a grasp on her Legends story without the contradictions started by the Clone Wars. While I think I may actually prefer Canon!Ventress over her Legends counterpart as a character, I do think that if they wanted to change pretty much everything about her, they should have just created a new character. Now, I don't think that you ever mentoined this, but including TCW in Legends is actually a disadvantage for TCW, too. Think of it - all the stories that were concluded in Rebels, Dark Disciple, Son of Dathomir or another canon source are just unresolved this way in the "Legends version of the Clone Wars".

@Chosen One Two characters being present in one source isn't as lore-wrecking as a dead as a character who is supposed to be dead magically resurrecting. Gallia's death does keep Obsession from hapening, despite the fact you claimed earlier that it can coexist with TCW, while Bink Otuna and Stass Allie's presence means that the Microseries canon would have to be somewhat tweaked.

Yep same with the inquitors but ya know Disney decided to blow up the EU but yet steals from it to supliment their lack of creativity. I do like fallen order (mostly because it keeps the EU theft to a minimum) but let's be real trilla is no jarec.

I never liked her being a Dathomirian Nightsister. She was the very first Rattatak in Star Wars and then all of a sudden shes a Dathomirian.

i personally really like asajj ventress in legends and think that her canon depiction was terrible but one good thing i will say about her in canon is that she was much better in terms of voice acting but other than that her legends depiction is overall better so personally in my headcanon ventress is the same in legends but she has the same voice as in her TCW depiction

Thank you for covering the REST of ventress’s story seen in legends that wasn’t covered by Star wars the clone wars. Then again, likely most Star Wars fans have seen that portion of said continuity. So it is nice to learn what ELSE was present for some characters’ stories. The show did a fantastic job expanding the EU!

You seriously deserve 10,000+ subs. Also curious as to why you left out Asajj's duel with Anakin on Yavin VI out of this video? Other than that minor nit-pick, this video is something I've been waiting to see for a long time, and I'm glad you made it. EDIT: Sorry I hadn't watched the entire video when I posed this comment. I had just assumed that her duel took place right after her duel with Dooku.

2003 Asajj Ventress: A cunning warrior, Obi Wan's equal and despised him, contended with Mace Windu, engaged Anakin Skywalker, was a threat to the heroes, defeated Kit Fisto, had a cool design, was a Rattataki. 2008 Asajj Ventress: Mediocre design, a Dathomarian?, was a flirt with Obi Wan Kenobi, was almost beaten by a 13 year old padawan. In all honesty i like both versions of Ventress but honestly Legends just seem more cool.

whilst i agree with you mostly i dont think that ventress was ever defeated by ahsoka in fact the only time they actually fought ventress had the upper hand

Something to be noted was that her ship was spotted at the battle of zagobar but it was unconfirmed if it was actually her piloting it. So in my head canon it was some random droid because I don't want to ruin the perfect ending to her arc that was done in star wars obsession.

Hated how her character was so static in The Clone Wars TV show. I had known her background, but always thought her hatred for the Jedi was insufficiently explained.

In TCW Asajj makes no sense without the 2003 series and the EU. Contrary to what dave filoni claims, the 2008 series was SUPPOSED to be a continuation, not a contradiction. Now in the disney canon her backstory makes no sense; casual fans are confused, wondering who she is, why Obi and Anakin know her so well, why Dooku has an apprentice at all, etc. But most disney fans are content to leave her unexplained; these are the idiots who were okay with no backstory whatsoever for snoke. Idiots.

I disagree her Disney Canon backstory is fine. I believe that it is a matter of preference. Her species Legends/EU = Rattataki Disney Canon = Dathomirian I prefer Canon because I know more about that version and grown up with TCW 2008 (never 2003 and the whole project). I respect people's opinions but I do not like people trashing on the Dathomirian version of Ventress or Maul. I do not trash Legends (excluding Palpatine clones set after ROTJ). I love SWTOR game and the original Battlefront games but I prefer the Canon version of Ventress and Maul because TCW 2008 introduced me to Star Wars when I was a kid and I have nostalgia and love for the series. Does thst mean I love everything in the Disney Canon? No! Like the TLJ, I dislike it. Moraband or Korriban. Who cares? It wasn't made be Disney but Lucas himself because he thought children will confuse it with Corucant. Blame Lucas not Disney on that. I will agree that Legends had a better Luke after ROTJ but I cannot change this. I would like to see Legends Luke go and have a talk with Canon Luke in TLJ. Thrawn, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo or Darth Caedus. Who cares? I want that TCW 2008 be removed from Legends Universe because it contradicts everything in it and that Star Wars have two Universes that can crossover like Marvel and DC. I want the fandom to unite but when Disney made Legends non-Canon it split the fandom and TLJ split it more. Will the fandom to unite ever again? Episode IX needs to fix the Disney Canon Universe and alow Legends be another Universe without the contradictory TCW 2008. That will unite the fandom but is it to late.

I am aware that tcw is considered legends. however there are lots of moments in tcw that contrast with legends material. did you hear manda-lore talk about the nightsister in this video? he didn't because that's something tcw made up that took away from her backstory. just watch manda-lore's own how tcw doesn't fit in the legends timeline on his captain fordo channel. I know its legends, but it shouldn't be.

@@Manda-LORE Hmm, really? Cause a friend of mine told me that apparently the Cestus Deception references the Battle of Jabiim as one previous loss among many in Chapter 9, Page 57. I checked it, and it's true, the battle is indeed mentioned. It seems like it says that the Battle of Jabiim has already happened.

General CJG the new essential chronology places it there. Perhaps it's in reference to the initial cis invasion of jabiim? There is no way obi wan can be on both jabiim and ord cestus simultaneously

I even checked the del ray time line printed at the beginning of the book and even that places the book before the battle of jabiim, so yeah that is quite a conundrum

@@Manda-LORE Hmm, ok. Question, my friend is asking when does Jedi Trial take place cause he says that it seems to take place 16 to 18 months after the Battle of Geonosis. Also, another small question, what EU books and comics from 1999 to 2007 mention Maul as being dead? Which ones basically kept him dead?

Didn't she briefly engage Ki Adi Mundi in the old EU? Also I wouldn't include it in the video but I think the one bit of TCW content that does fit with legends is the in service to the Republic comic where Ventress fights Plo Koon at the battle of Battle of Khorm. This doesn't feature any TCW original characters, but it does give Plo Koon a dueling feat. Plo Koon does say that he's several hundred years old when in the EU he's Jinns age but it seems that he was only joking.

@Manda-LORE How does the new essential chronology explain ventress being indoctrinated by Dooku in the micro series, to attack Anakin Skywalker on Yavin, yet you presented her battle on Naboo's moon before that. How could she be Dooku's commander if the order you presented it in, said they hadn't met yet. In volume 2 of the micro series, Obiwan refers to ventress as a "Dark Assassin," implying they hadn't met at that point yet.

Her duel with Dooku on Rattatak is a flashback to before the war, she doesnt immediately go to Muunilinst. As for why Kenobi refers to her as "Dark Assasin" is because the CW team were only really exposed to concept art and probably didn't know ventresses name at that point (concept art for episode III included Durge and Ventress as seen in Star Wars: Visionaries)

@@Manda-LORE I was just confused because on that same duel on rattatak, Sidious put out the hit to test Anakin's resolve in that same instance. So this implies she was spreading chaos around the galaxy BEFORE her initial duel with Skywalker, am I in the ballpark here?

@@DarkLordofTheRizz All sidious really says in that episode is "she is meerly an instrument to bring forth the eradication of the jedi" in response to Dooku so it leaves it pretty open ended. I did a video on the Clone Wars itself that might help you visualize the timeline a bit better

Do you ever plan on doing a video on your other channel proving that the EU was always canon? I already did one of my own but I would love to see you do one.

The fact of the matter is; I shouldn't have to. Everyone conveniently forgets the past 37 years before 2014, and for what? What good does that do them or Lucasfilm? It's irrefutable fact that the EU was canon before 2014, it is no longer but it was at one point, we (the EU fans) have conceded that. I don't know why that's a hard concept for the new canon fans to grasp. At this point, it's like trying to convince people who don't believe in gravity. It's not even being misinformed at this point, these people are blindly ignorant and I feel its just a waste of time to convince people who don't want to be convinced that what the mouse told them was wrong. I already feel I wasted months of my time making those videos on TCW not fitting in the EU.

Good point. I've argued with a lot of people and some refuse to believe the EU was canon even though I gave them direct evidence that the EU was canon. Then they act like whiny trolls. So it isn't worth it to try and convince them because they stubbornly refuse to admit they are wrong.
