Who should be an Erasmus student | Julia Fernandez Diaz | TEDxNBU

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Why students should take the challenge and go to Erasmus exchange programs and what benefits could they expect.
Erasmus student from Spain at New Bulgarian University
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

If her accent is disturbing you, you are more than welcome to not watch this video. I know how hard it is talking in another language and it really is pretty difficult for people that are speaking a latin language to speak one which isn’t. Instead of paying attention to her accent, listen to her story, to her experience because she was kind enough to share it. Thank you

Your English is fine :) I'm French, not very at ease with English and yet I understood everything. And as a language learner, I know the struggle it is to learn another language. You do it well!

a bit dissapointing that the volume is so damn low. Cant really make out what she is saying because it is so quiet :( it would be great if you would add subtitles to the Talks, that would also benefit deaf people :)

I think with the UK - the best thing to do is go there and get stuck into the university clubs and societies outside the Erasmus clique. Obviously, a lot of your friends will be fellow Erasmus students as British students are traditionally reticent to open up to Erasmus students there for a semester or a year at most. But with a bit of planning and not taking knockbacks personally, you can make British friends - join the clubs and societies, sporting ones are usually good places to go to. I hope you enjoy the UK. :)

So why the fuck are people in most of Europe allowed to do multiple Erasmus semesters, and get like triple the scholarship we get? In the Netherlands we barely get any help, Erasmus organization is just a fucking pain in the ass that wants this and that document constantly. The Erasmus experience is fucking AMAZING. But I can't do any other Erasmus unless I do another education. Since I am only allowed to do one during the minor, you can do an internship but it's not the damn same, you'll be working ;/ and it's the same in all colleges/unis here as far as I know. Really wish I could do another one, it was an amazing experience. I did my Erasmus in Istanbul, it was great. Anyway, I met some people from Slovakia who were doing their second semester and even stayed one semester more.... how is that even possible? The messed up part was that they were studying a history masters while taking beginners courses at erasmus and no one cared lol...

+3choBlast3r Actually with erasmus + programme you are allowed to do erasmus 12 months in bacherlor and more 12 months in master. Try to get some information about that in your university or just google it. Scholarship is a problem about your country... Netherlands is in a better monetary situation that other european countries so is normal you receive less help.

He did 'try it' he went to Istanbul, but the fact remains Erasmus works if you have 'The Bank of Mum and Dad' the stipends they give you aren't enough and that means working class students who could have that opportunity to have their eyes opened are denied because the stipends aren't enough to cover living expenses. I wanted to do an Erasmus semester in Finland but was soon put off by what I was about to receive in regards living costs. The idea of Erasmus is a brilliant one and one that would be lost to a generation of British students if Brexit goes ahead.
