    So I may have gotten some dates mixed up. >_ When this assassination attempt took place, the Drukhari could not have known about the failure of the Golden Throne specifically, but even then killing the Emperor would still be a beneficial act to Commoraghn society (panic = easy pickings for raiders) This would also mean that the Ynnari themselves wouldn't have orchestrated it, *but* given the inscription on an exodite tablet, there could have been a 'proto-ynnari' cult that simply never grew as powerful who sought to orchestrate the same result.

These last few centuries since you had arisen to Supreme Grand Master our hunts for the fallen haven been getting darker as we the Unforgiven, have been committing atrocities that are arguably far more heretical in their nature than the sins that were committed by Luther and the original Fallen traitors

    A lot of commenters here seem to be forgetting what happens within 0.00001 seconds of the Emperor dying: Terra is swallowed up in a massive warp rift, the control structure of the Imperium dies and the Imperium is dead. That's why the big E doesn't kill himself, that's why the Horus Heresey was such a perfect victory for chaos: they found a way to trap the Emperor. It's mentioned in Dark Imperium that the Emperor's reaction to seeing Guilliman again is like a man in prison who sees a hacksaw or file being delivered to him. To Guilliman's regret he is not the person delivering the file, but the file itself. The big E's hopes of escape rest with Guilliman now, no way he wants someone to kill him.

  • @QuinchGaming

    @QuinchGaming

    6 жыл бұрын

    Last I read the rift was contained but as it happened so close to the Heresy there was no time to close it, or reconstruct the failed portion of the webway that had collapsed due to the damage Magnus accidentally caused. It had taken the Emperor decades to create what he'd done so far and a couple of years wasn't sufficient to seal it. Its currently held back, largely in part, by the Emperors own will and powers which is why they need sacrifices to maintain the Astronomicon as the Emperor has insufficient remaining power to do both.

    Alternate Theory: The blade of Ptesh was hired... by the Emperor of mankind himself. As a perpetual, his death would allow him to regain his full capabilities and rebuild the Imperium, rising from the ashes like an Iron Phoenix. If the Emperor promised to save the Aeldar race in exchange for his death, how many Aeldari would die a thousand deaths for a chance of success? It explains both his presence on Sacred Terra and his devotion.

    I doubt it was Big E himself. Granted He's a perpetual but He's well aware of these facts: without Him on the chair the Astronomicon wouldn't shine and Terra would get eaten by an Eye of Terror 2.0, both events quite terrible even when taken separately. The former could have been dealt with, after all it was possible to travel before Big E switched on the bloody thing, but you can't exactly travel when a massive portion of the material universe gets thrown into the Immaterium (especially when said portion of the material universe is the Segmentum Solar or part of it). Besides there's the Terminus decree all comfy in a box in Titan and I suspect the Custodes are fully aware of that piece of paper, moreover He could have just asked the Companions to do the job

    Here's a theory: The Adeptus Mechanicus is now sending people across the galaxy to look for blackstone. Why? With it, they could essentially build crude versions of the Cadian pylons on Terra itself. With the pylons in place, they could let the emperor die. The potential warp rift would be suppressed or held in place. Bring on the assassins. Providing they beef up the defenses throughout the galaxy and strategically place some of the returning Primarchs where they are most needed, the Imperium could hopefully handle a few decades (!) without warp travel while waiting for the emperor to return.

    My list of Primary suspects: Erebus (Wouldn't be his first attempt!), Tzeentch (probably by proxy), Omegon (it's his style), and just maybe Eldrad Ulthran. Abaddon's off the list, he'd want to do it himself. Orks? LOL! Tau? The idea of a Tau intimidating a Drukhari may just be the funniest thing ever. The High Lords? Possible, but very unlikely. Inquisition? The Malleus agents do tend to go off the deep end with alarming regularity, but it would have to be one helluva Inquisitor to convince the Blade of Ptesh to hold their tongue, the kind that even Eisenhorn wouldn't tangle with. Other than that, no idea.

    My guess is that the hit was orchestrated by the chaos god known as the Emperor. After the body is killed, the chaos Emperor would reveal himself to the grieving adeptus custodes and tell them that he has returned to them after his 10,000 year nap. Now openly worshiped as a true God, his following would increase dramatically, gaining him the power to overthrow the other gods. Assuming that such an entity even exists in the warp. However, 10k years of belief in the "real" emperor may have caused such a warp entity to be born.

    Codex: Adeptus Custodes (8th Edition) pg 31, I was curious too, and man was that hard to track down. Following little blurb after little blurb, and name after name. Here's the full quote "Blood Will Tell Leotydus Dat-Hastael runs a successful Blood Game, spending over a decade in hiding, evading every ward and sentry to finally reach the Sanctum Imperialis with blade in hand. Precautions are put in place to seal off his route of ingress, just in time to catch the elite Drukhari killer known as the Blade of Ptesh as he attempts the very same route as Dat-Hastael in his efforts to slay the Emperor on behalf of a mysterious and exceptionally persuasive patron. The Blade’s ambitions, and indeed his life, meet a merciless end, though he refuses to the end to give up the identity of the one who sent him." Took place sometime between M33-39 BTW Rem, this date makes the theories involving the Drucari knowing the Golden Throne is failing and Ynead fasle.

But in fairness in regards to the Ynnead thing, it isn't completely debunked due to the exodite stone tablet depicting the 'star-child' which could also be Ynnead (being on an Aeldari artefact after all) so that could mean that prior to the Ynnari there could have been a similar organisation that preceded it but simply never grew anywhere near as powerful. None-the-less, I pinned an addendum at the top of the comments section

    #40K Theories, I have worked in nursing homes as a nurses aid. I have personally witnessed elder people that still had a good mind, ask to die do to there ever failing health. One woman told me that she had out lived all of her children and most of her friends. Her health was on a slow and painful terminal spiral that would/did only grant her release when she passed away. She was in constant pain both mentally and physically. Given this experience, I put forth that our Glorious God Emperor of Mankind hired the assassin to kill him, because he knows that no human would even think about the idea. Supporting Facts: The Emperor is in unfathomable grinding and constant pain. His mind has been shattered, yet he must still keep the Astronomican working at full tilt. That is like telling your over 40,000 year old father that he must run a marathon even though he just had to kill his favored son, and has two broke legs with multiple fractures. Not only does he do it, but he wins the marathon. That is how much the Emperor loves us all. He has been hooked to the golden throne, a devise forcing his dying body to stay alive. He knows every time a hero of the Imperium of Man dies. Half of his sons have betrayed him. Most of the ones that have not betrayed him are missing or dead as well. The man deserves a rest, and if he is in that much pain both mental and physical. Then the only humane thing to do is allow him to pass away.

    The Emperor ordered it. He repaired the warp rift long ago, but was unable to communicate with his people well enough to get them to release him from the throne and let him regenerate naturally. So he used his psychic power in the Warp to send a message to the assassin and commission his own assassination. His psychic power has entirely departed now, becoming the Chaos God of Order; all that remains is for his body to be released from the Throne, regenerate, and create the Primaris marines to continue the fight.

Because they would benefit the most from the Emperor’s death: humanity would have lost its main source of space travel, they would also be demoralised and isolated from the Imperium, which would make it easier to take large portions of the Imperium of Man with little consequences.
