Yankee, you’re the perfect example of customers who DO NOT LISTEN. *gm* can’t help that some of their customers are dumb and rebel against any changes made for the better. You don’t not need apple CarPlay in new *gm* products so why would they spend money to include it?. Nobody cares that you want apple CarPlay just for the sake of having it although your vehicle is so advanced it no longer needs it. The guy in the video went even further into explaining why it doesn’t make sense for *gm* to spend money incorporating a competitor’s software into their vehicles when it doesn’t serve their EV customers with the information they’ll need for the best overall experience.

We've had the Blazer EV for over a month and were heavy users of Apple Car Play in our previous 21 Blazer. We were a bit concerned about not having Car Play but decided to go for it anyway. So far it hasn't been that big of a deal not having it. The only “issue” was listening to podcasts via our Apple Podcasts app via Car Play. But, we downloaded Spotify to the car, created a new free account and were good to go. So far we LOVE not going to the gas station. Also, this is my wife's car and she does 90+% of her driving within 25 miles of our house, so having an electric Blazer works great for her needs.

There's never a reason to celebrate a lack of choice for consumer. Now instead of having the same experience I have customized in all my cars, this one will be the odd man out. Secondary owners will have fun too when that 8 years included drops and now you have to $$$ (new revenue from secondary yay GM Stockholders!) to get the utility back. I hope they don't let this devolve into the HOT LANDFILL FIRE that is OnStar. I own a Volt and a Bolt for now. I don't know if my next EV will be a Chevrolet product.

Dave, send my congratulations to Nia, I have also been a proud owner of a Blazer EV for the last 8 months now and with the major software update I just received last month, issues resolved. Google Maps integration on the car with the HUD system is amazing, don't need to look at that 17-inch screen at all, would not be safe anyway. KZread music since I have premium, works like a charm. I wish they allow actual KZread videos when you have the car in PARK mode, so when you are charging or waiting for your order at the parking lot, you can watch these videos on a glorious 17-inch screen. I am 6'6"' and the space in this car is fantastic, the back seat huge space as well. I would like for the wheel to pull farther honestly; I need to put my seat more to the front and squish my legs a little bit or I can't comfortably touch or handle the steering wheel. The telescopic feature is not long enough and does not go high enough, it cuts the two corners of the 11-inch screen, can't read what is there in normal driving position for a tall person. Love your videos, keep it up.

Quite frankly, Google Maps is not the only reason someone like me wants a car with Apple CarPlay. GM could have provided the Google Maps option they did without excluding the native integration that many have come to rely on, it’s clear they chose to not include it for other reasons. I like having CarPlay because it’s an extension of my phone, not a separate device, and allows me to stay happily in my Apple Bubble. Can this provide a wrist tap via my watch telling me which direction to turn without having to look at the screen or listen to the assistant? Can I program the maps software from my phone, and have it immediately navigate on the screen without having to touch that screen? Quite frankly, GM dropped the ball on this one.

GM gas cars and trucks offer the exact same interface, and it does support CarPlay/Android Auto. Same for the Honda/Acura versions of the Blazer EV. GM did this to control the data it holds about its customers, and to learn as much as possible from them. Selling them apps and subscriptions is icing on the data cake. GM doesn’t see anything from a customer’s phone when CarPlay is connected. Of course Dave B needs us to think CarPlay isn’t useful. He needs to sell those EVs, it very much expected behavior from him. GM needs to give customers a choice. Until they do, their EVs can collect dust on dealer lots, I don’t mind.

But i'm perfectly content with just using "old fashioned" bluetooth as well where you still didn't need to plug in your phone. The only reason I use CarPlay is to make/receive calls and listen to music at times. When I do listen to music through CarPlay, I find a playlist and back out of CarPlay and use the vehicle infotainment system because CarPlay has too much going on. I have never had the need to pull up all these apps while driving. I pay attention to the road and don't drive like a crazy irate driver so i don't need waze to let me know where cops are. @@TroySavary here’s the thing, most people base that solely on 10 years ago but in 2024 Apple Maps is 1000x superior to Google Maps & here’s why. First, better fonts. The font size on Apple Maps is bigger along with the font style makes it easier to see than Google Maps. Second, traffic light & stop sign indicators. In Apple Maps every traffic light & stop sign is big & clearly marked so when you are in an area that has a lot of traffic lights you can clearly see how many lights there are before your turn. Third, clearly marked street names. With the bigger don’t size Apple Maps clearly marks the street you’re on & the cross streets you are passing & they are easy to see. Fourth, audible indication for your turns & exits. With Google Maps they only tell you in feet when your turn or exit is coming up. However with Apple Maps it will say something like “go past this light then at the next one turn right.” You see what you only use a unit of measurement to tell someone to turn & there are more than one spots to turn then that can be very confusing in some areas but Apple eliminates that confusion. Finally, Apple Maps has better integration with the Apple Watch. Unlike Google, even with the Pixel watch, when using Apple Maps you get a haptic feedback on the watch letting you know when your turn or exit is coming up. Now I’m open to you explaining how Google is better but I doubt you can explain it it.

So 8 years then you gotta pay? I'd rather have Android auto or apple carplay and I'll use programs on my phone to tell me how long to change

You can try to minimize any way you want. Then going with google exclusively isn’t a great decision considering google isn’t stable to begin with.

Dave - you are way off base on this one and obviously supporting the party line - by not listening to the customer. I have a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV and love it. Apple CarPlay is my app and I also love it. I had always planned on upgrading to a Blazer or Equinox EV, but 2 things are stopping me - the much higher prices that Chevy is charging for their EVs and the lack of Apple CarPlay. Chevy has decided they do not want me as I customer. Chevy is going to be loosing many potential customers because of the lack of CarPlay and rightly so. Mary B has clearly stated that GM will be getting Billions of Dollars of revenue from Google Built In and she has hired executives making millions of dollars to make that happen. I think they will be loosing 20 to 30% of potential sales due to the foolish decision not to include CarPlay and Andriod.

The system literally still works the same way... only better because it integrates the vehicle to the system for real time charging information and planning. It is much better than our Bolt EUV's
