I think it’s really weird. They would try to make it look like an LS engine cover. I think they should be proud of the fact it’s electric and make it look like an electric engine cover. Just doesn’t make sense to me. I understand they’re trying to sell this product to non-educated people but in that situation they might’ve just put a hellcat in and paid Dodge for the use of it and they would’ve made more money

Why the f- would you want to convert a normal door handle to an electronic gizmo? When this car is 10 years old, these things will be worthless, as all the gizmos are failing, spare parts will be insanely expensive, and the battery will have maybe a quarter of the mileage available. Basically it won't be worth the expense to fix it up - ready to be junked at 10 years.

At which point, you might have to rebuild the drivetrain, replace worn out seals and other plastics, and you'll be good to go for another 20-30 years. Now they are building cars that will be uneconomical to repair. Assuming no inflation, If you buy an EV for $60K today, in 10 years you (or the poor sucker you sell it to) will have to pay at least $20K for a new battery, and maybe another $10-20K to replace the mammoth infotainment screen (if they still make them) and the over-engineered door locks etc. - why would you pay almost the value of a new car to refurbish an old one (and HOPE that you solved all the problems).

@@daniels2761 This has unfortunately been a trend since the 70s. Bigger, heavier, and more like an isolation pod on wheels. Actual handling has indeed gone down to almost nothing. I still remember my friend from years ago driving me around in his old BMW 2002 and launching it at an onramp that had a 90 degree turn leading into it - and a 100 ft length in total ( country road - just dumped you into the highway ) - and it basically rotating like a top at 40mph. :) Rev - zoom - snap through the turn and off we went. Nothing made in the last 30 years could possibly do that, because the car weighed barely over 2000lbs. :)

No, it still is basically a better version of a Tesla. But still.. not worth the money. It's missing a lot of features that by the time you try to add most of them back in with options and packages, just spend a little more for the Cadillac. Typical GM trim and package levels, same as it has been for decades. Always get the base model Cadillac or Buick versus a loaded Chevy as you get a better vehicle for only a little more or no extra money. (plus better resale value and things like included leather)

I got a picture of my wife setting in the beautiful red Lyriq right before Christmas, it had a giant red bow on top. We both loved it but it was just too big for us same for the Blazer. We are patiently waiting for the Equinox and the Cadillac Optiq. GM may be late in the EV game compared to Tesla but they are Elon’s, I mean eons ahead in style.

One thing I've noticed about EVs is they try to WOW ya w/ all the light shows & gadgets that'll probably give you problems. Ill stick w/ my V6 Cadillac, its perfect for me.

Yeah that is my biggest concern with any domestic is the short warranties. They don't give longer ones because they know their cars will fall apart before they run out. Kias/Hyundais have their issues, but at least they stand behind their stuff. My Jeep came with a 5 year 100k warranty. I only had 50K at 5 years but it rapidly started falling apart, as I am sure was their intention.

It sounds like your insurance company screwed you. They know by the VIN what options the car has and they know sunroofs, pano roofs and convertibles can get trashed during hail storms. Even metal roof cars can get banged up. I had a Ford Thunderbird back in the 90s that got hail damage on the hood, roof and trunk lid in a storm and they quoted $4700 back then to fix it. I cashed the check and bought another one, and kept the damaged one as a beater for work. Nowadays, the insurance companies would just total a car with any significant damage, whether glass roof or metal. They get so much for them at the auction due to exporters, rebuilders and parts scarcity that they end up coming out ahead by totaling them instead of fixing.

If both GM cars are simply different trims of the same platform, why is the Blazer compared to the Y and the Cadillac compared to the X. It seems like the Cadillac is probably more comparable to the Y Long Range. The Y and X are two completely different vehicles.

As a Model Y Long Range owner, both of these look awesome and I agree with everything that Hoovie was pointing out. I'm in need of another vehicle and looking at all of the options out there. Sadly, what's really needed and no one has done it yet is a EV version of the Honda Odyssey.. which blow my mind. The first company to make that happen will crush that market segment. Honda hasn't even offered an Odyssey in a hybrid yet, which is disappointing. Awesome video as usual! Keep up the great work guys.

My daughter has a Sienna Hybrid and it's been great so far. I guess Honda doesn't want to invest a bunch in the minivan market as Toyota and Chrysler have so many out there already and people are leaning toward SUVs more and more. Minivans do come in handy when you need them though.

The Honda Prologue is built on the same platform. I got the VW ID4 because I don't want version 1.0 of a car. The ID4 had been out for a few years and had 2-3 iterations to improve. I like the way the Prologue looks more than the Blazer, I like Camaros but I don't think everything needs to look like a Camaro. The Cadillac does look great though, the motor compartment looks really well done! Ford should take notes.

We owned 2 Model S cars, a Gen 1 and 2, and now own a Lyriq. All of these cars have their strong points. I am not in favor of air suspension or AWD which our Lyriq doesn't have, although the Model S does have a slightly better ride because of air suspension. No Tesla has a luxury interior while Cadillac has been designing those for 120 years or more and the interior of the Lyriq wins hands down. The GM Supercruise is more positive, as is the overall handling of the Lyriq. Pricewise, the upgraded Lyriq was about the same as the Gen 3 Model S, so it's maybe not as value priced as some think, considering the advantages of the Model S. My wife wouldn't drive the Tesla but loves the Lyriq which has a lower front and is easier to understand.
