Cash is not king at a stealership, You don't get a deal paying cash... They get kick backs from banks etcetc.. finance then pay it off the next week if you want. ** edit- I don't mean to say " every " deal is like this. I get that it's not always the case. But in most cases at least with what I've experienced cash deals go no where.. If you can walk out with a cash deal heck ya! But equally even if they do accept a cash deal I feel you're leaving money on the table, finance it and work it down more then just turn around and pay it off. I guess each deal is unique , gotta figure out where you're at on the playing field.

@@carswithaaron All very true, but it also does depend on the sales climate - if you have plenty of inventory and someone walks in and offers you enough cash to make some profit for a car you suspect you will have trouble shifting, and you turn them away just in case you can make some more money/kickbacks off a later sale - then you are a fool. A bird in the hand as the saying goes. If it's a car you know you'll sell a week or two later for closer to sticker on credit with a bunch of bullshit fees and extras added in - then of course, you'd be a fool to sell it to the cash buyer.

I ended my management career in the car business after 25-years in 2021. My last stop was a CDJR dealership as FCA was giving way to Stellantis. The writing was on the wall. While every manufacturer misses the mark occasionally, Stellantis took a nuclear-like destructive direction from the onset, both with product and pricing strategies. RAM and Jeep will eventually get sold off for parts in the not too distant future to whatever manufacturer currently lacks the product to serve that market. Dodge is essentially done. They've neutered the brand and no Mopar aficionado will subscribe to their new direction. Chrysler has been on life support for almost a decade and it's just a question of when they will halt the bleeding and pull it off of life support.

Yep, though from anecdotal evidence (not necessarily the case country-wide) some of the blame goes on the consumer because so many people especially ones interested in cars at dealerships will get wowed by all the bigger cars with fancy tech, screens and motorized features and often shun more basic, smaller models that are typically more reliable and more financially sound for their budget. Then later they will complain about how cars are getting too expensive, too big and have too much tech. Lol. Though for sure the number one problem of newer cars being too expensive and that dealers have a hard time selling is the government and their strict requirements to 'save the planet'. They usually screw most things up they get involved in but its definitely gotten worse the last 10 years than before in the automotive industry. They would at least offer a naturally aspirated engine option in most vehicles 10 years ago but half of models don't even have a larger, non-turbo engine option.

@@Spoolingturbski Nothing made up about it, Volvo is now owned and managed by Geely. It's a majority owned Chinese company now. Some design and engineering work is still done in Sweden (bet that won't last much longer as they will want to cost cut by centralizing), and cars that are not based on Geely platforms are manufactured in various other places - but almost all of their electric models are mostly built in China at the Geely mega-factory - with a few exceptions depending on the market they are being built for. Chinese car manufacturers are buying out recognized brand names so they can use them to sell Chinese cars at European car prices to people who don't know any better. The money goes to the Chinese Oligarch who owns Geely - and he's a high ranking member of the CCP - so if you buy a Volvo, you are supporting the CCP.

In 1987 I made the mistake of buying a new Dodge Shadow. My brand new Shadow kept breaking down every 45 to 60 miles due to a faulty map sensor. I would be driving along and the engine would just shut down. I brought it back to the dealer several times and even they could not fix it. After several weeks I wound up returning it to the dealer and received full price credit toward the purchase of a beautiful two year old Cadillac with 26,000 miles in mint condition. That was my 1st and last purchase of a Dodge automobile.

I said in comments when the Jeep Grand Wagoneer first debuted that they blew it - Terrible pricing and naming structure, no heritage design cues, looks too much like a Grand Cherokee from the front - It seemed like a dud from the very beginning in my eyes - Having a 6 figure Grand Wagoneer priced like a Cadillac Escalade and an identical-looking "non-Grand" Wagoneer version priced like a Chevy Tahoe seemed like a disastrous idea from the start... And if Chrysler/Stellantis simply threw some wood inserts in the exterior door handles or made the "Grand Wagoneer" lettering on the front doors out of wood I think even that may have been a creative and modern way to pay homage to the original instead of just making it look simply like an overpriced Grand Cherokee XL.

Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep raised their prices up so much no wonder they are selling slow. To be honest, another reason the Dodge Charger,Challenger and Chrysler 300 they knew 2024 they would have no cars so they increased production to last 2024..Now,dealers messed that up as they added a large mark up on said vehicles.. I know RAM Truck prices jumped tenfold over the last year or so thus slower sales..

The real question is when will the prices come down. I ordered a 2024 Ram 3500 in Feb - they were offering 10% off sticker plug dealer discount.
