2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Review: Chevy’s Most Mainstream EV Yet

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Chevrolet is no stranger to electric vehicles, but the new-for-2024 Equinox EV is the brand’s most mainstream EV yet. For starters, it’s a space-efficient compact SUV - one of the most popular vehicle categories in the U.S. - and it comes with a generous list of standard features, including a full suite of safety equipment. It also uses GM’s latest Ultium battery technology, which helps it achieve a driving range and charging speeds that are close to the best EVs in its class. Finally, the Equinox EV is very competitively priced, delivering impressive EV value for the money.
Cars.com Senior Research Editor Damon Bell traveled to Detroit to attend the Equinox EV’s press preview event, and he got seat time in a front-wheel-drive 2LT trim (more powerful all-wheel-drive versions are available, too). The model lineup also includes a 3LT trim with a higher level of standard equipment, along with sportier-looking 2RS and 3RS trims. An entry-level 1LT is slated to arrive later in the model year. All Equinox EVs come with an 11-inch digital instrument panel and an extra-large 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, as well as optional features like a panoramic sunroof, hands-free power liftgate and GM’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system. Come along for our full tour of the Equinox EV, including Damon’s behind-the-wheel driving impressions.

He took too long to get to the important numbers like Torric horsepower range and charging time. Those are the very first things people wanna know so get to it first. He also did not discuss if it’s qualifies for the full $7500 federal tax credit. he also did not mention if the charging port will change to NAC in 2025.

Funny I've made the same observation in other videos. They should have gone with a more neutral color for the accent like dark grey or light grey depending on the other interior colors.

No one is adding j 3400 until 2025 or 26. This was long in the planning and you can’t change that quickly. They will have the adapter this year to use Tesla . Why do you come on a non Tesla review and make negative comments? A not everyone wants a tesla no matter specs or price

@@ProjectCovenant You have to take everything into context. (Price, style of vehicle, size of vehicle, room inside the vehicle, etc.) Range is more important to me. How much mileage does a Ionic 5 get at the lowest trim level....not the larger more expensive long range batteries. Equinox get's 319 EPA rated miles. Equinox will get you 77 miles in 10 minutes of charging. That is reasonably fast. 30 minutes for 10% -80%....and that's not bad IMO. And what Hyundai are you able to get for $38K (with rebate) with the room that you get in the Equinox. Do an apples to apple comparison. And by the end of the year you'll be able to get the Equinox 1LT trim for $27K (with rebate).

You clearly aren’t paying attention. The competitor to the Equinox is the upcoming Kia EV3, which is also a 400v architecture and takes a similar time to charge 10-80%.

No CarPlay, no buy. The sheer idiocity of GM to think THEY, out of all brands, THEY would be the one that can challenge the adoption of CarPlay/Android Auto... LMAO. We should've let this brand go bankrupt the second time they did.

@@Jetter638 Exactly, those brands can pull it off, GM can't. I actually own a R1T and I hate it doesn't have CarPlay, but the rest of the vehicle makes up for that. There is absolutely no way I would tolerate that for a freaking GM, Jeep or Ford vehicle.

@@pepesilvia4564 And I'm just curious what exactly do you feel you are giving up by not having CarPlay? Will CarPlay give you accurate route planning for your car with options for charging stations, and real time estimates based on energy consumption of how much charge you will have when you arrive at each of the charging stations on your route? And how much time you will need to spend at each charger. From my perspective it seems that GM system seems to have everything I would want (real time route planning, Spotify access, Waze access, and access to all apps in the Google play stire) but maybe there is something that you need beyond that?

This is the revolutionary mass adoption ev we've been waiting for. Market research has shown the stats required for over 50% ev adoption are over 300 miles of range, 30 minutes or less charging speed, and price under $36k. This is the first vehicle to hit those metrics. The word about these needs to get out and GM needs to make enough of them!
