Who is to blame for Otto Warmbier's death?

New details are emerging about the case of Otto Warmbier, the American student who died after being held in North Korea. His tour group engaged in heavy drinking and partying while in the country, raising questions about who is to blame for his death. Issac Stone Fish, senior fellow at the Asia Society, joins CBSN to discuss.

He likely did not attempt to steal a poster. After he was detained as the tour was leaving, the North Korean officials lied and said he was too ill to travel. It was not until 20 days later that he was accused of taking down the special poster. He was never accused of stealing it or having it in his possession. There is a grainy video of the alleged event that could be anyone. He had the bad luck to be in North Korea right before a long planned missile launch and they needed a telegenic hostage.

Otto made the fatal mistake of visiting a giant hereditary feudal holding/plantation that masquerades as a communist country. Other than the whims of the current fearless leader/ruling lord and his minions there are no rules or laws. See the account of his trip roommate Danny Gratton.

While we all should be sad that the young man died the fact is Otto Warmbier a white, privileged, young man CHOSE to go to a hostile country, chose to drink as if he was a frat boy at home and when someone is drinking they often make poor CHOICES. North Korea is a HOSTILE country! And let's also note that these young people making poor choices who then get arrested can make tensions between North Korea and the United States even worse.

North Korea is not hostile at all, stop spreading BS. 1,000 American tourists go there every year and they're all fine. Only this thief got arrested. Even the government keeps inviting an American basketball player Dennis Rodman to host events. Where do you see any hate towards americans from NK?? F*cking go there as much as you want, there's no hostile anything. Just don't be a criminal or rob from their government!
