It sucks that Hollywood focuses so hard on casting this type- Florence or Anya. No wonder actors cant get work. It makes no sense, it is not like we are in an era of the big movie star anymore. I thought good movies no matter the actor sells. I wish casting directors would spread the work around. No shade towards Florence or Anya.

It's normal for a few actors to get all the work..... how many roles did Bruce Willis get in his prime....or Jean Claud Van Damn. It's all about filling seats. And having a known actor is easier than making a good movies. Would anyone watch Damsel if it didn't have Millie Bobby Brown.

Value? It’s always been about who looked more attractive. Sure, for the filmmaker, it’s always (at least I hope this is the case for EVERY SINGLE FILMMAKER) been who can capture the part you have the best while being good looking? While we’re not living in a predominantly movie star era right now, because there are famous actors but not famous enough actors to carry an original drama with just their face on the poster to $100 million, it’s never really been about who they are. ​@@gloriathomas3245honestly, he has a point. It wasn't explicitly stated, and of course there were exceptions but Hollywood was 95+% laden with conventionally attractive actors in their roles. There was literally a "look" producers looked for to make leading men and ladies. It is also an industry that was built around people who had the money to surround themselves with who they wanted to see and be with. In the more recent decades, commentary started to question why certain roles that called for grungy never had the everyman look or "unattractive" leads, or why the idea of an unattractive woman was always some hot lady but with glasses, a conservative hairdo and frumpy clothes. Very few stars broke the mold, and that was usually due to how funny, dramatic or established they were in other circles.

OMG - John - I almost completely disagree with you on Superman 1 vs 2 - I thought the second was badly written and directed, and a mix of good and awful effects. About the only thing we agree on is the ended - although I saw nothing good in him beating up mere mortals

Yeah. It’s often said that she’s one of the only real movie ‘stars’ of this generation in terms of draw. She can do glamour, drama, relatable, quirky, and fierce. Kinda like Julia Roberts in the 90’s. I hope she becomes an icon like her.

I love Zendaya, but her act is 90% very angry not lovely to see her. She need to learn more time acting like Florence and Anya. Emmy Awards, it does't make her a great actress. Her challengers film as leading actress , it will be her most and challenging who is she Act as actress. We will see april 26. I can see only still like Rue( Euphoria) in her trailer challengers angry and dry attitude.

The difference between American actors vs. British ones is that Americans generally start as tv/commercial actors where as British ones start with Shakespeare.

The real question is why wasn’t Florence Pugh advised to change her name if she wanted to make it big? Like Zachary Levi was, was it because Levi was unashamed to speak about his ancestry from Wales. Whereas Florence is from England, therefore people would think the surname Pugh was English. Is that the reason she didn’t face the same restrictions?
