Who Has Impacted Your Life and Have You Told Them Yet? | Bonnie Habyan | TEDxGainesville

One of people's greatest regrets are the things left unsaid to those who matter most - simple, but power things like, "Thank you. I love you. You made a difference." In this talk, successful marketer, author, and inspirational speaker, Bonnie Habyan, urges everyone to identify and acknowledge those special people now. She tells them not to wait until it is too late. She shares some of the funny and touching lessons her special person taught her and explains how she made sure to let her know the impact she made on her life before she passed. She says letting people know what they mean to you right now is the single most beautiful gift one human can give to another, emphatically adding, "Do it today. You will be so happy you did." Bonnie Lorber Habyan is an author, speaker, and Chief Marketing Officer. During her 30-year career, Bonnie has been a corporate spokesperson, news reporter, and radio Love Songs DJ. Her passions are marketing, branding, writing, and family. After publishing her first book in 2022, a funny memoir about her mom, she embraced a journey that has led her on a path of connecting and sharing her life’s experiences. In addition to working full time for a rapidly growing commercial real estate finance company, she hosts a podcast series called Brand the Change and is working on her second book, one that will focus on branding and thought leadership. Bonnie lives with her husband of 32 years, former major league pitcher John Habyan, and has a 26-year-old daughter Holly, who she says is her life’s greatest achievement. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Bonnie , I recently lost a very close friend of many years. Luckily, we spoke almost daily, and in our last conversation, he told me he loved me, and I told him the same. Watching your TEDx talk deeply moved me, and your heartfelt message and the life lessons you shared from your mother, Bessie, resonated profoundly. Your emphasis on gratitude and expressing love to those who have shaped us reminded me of the importance of cherishing and acknowledging our loved ones while we can. Thank you for sharing such a personal and impactful story. Warmest regards, Skip

What an amazing and inspiring talk. Bonnie makes us laugh and makes us cry by sharing insightful and sometimes irreverent advice from her mom but most importantly shares how she took the opportunity to tell her mom how that advice had shaped her life. I imagine this Ted Talk could have a ripple effect. Maybe the stirring of emotions will propel each of us to tell at least one or two important people in our lives how much they have impacted us. This isn’t just a warm, humorous collection of stories; it’s a crucial reminder. Act now, before it’s too late. Thank you, Bonnie!

Phenomonal job and message. I laughed, I cried and you reminded me of so many wonderful memories of and with my own mom. Life lesson # 9 and life is one big connection really resonated. This is a lesson that I try to impart on my son as I believe this is a lesson that is lost with the younger generation. Talk about connections, my wife worked with your mom at a retailer in the Harford Mall and your mom would always remember my wife when we would see your mom out and about. Finally, I also think while your message speaks to telling others of their impact, it also speaks to the fact that we can never understimate our own impact on others, no matter how big or small - so treat people with kindness, give them a hand up if needed and connect with them. Thanks for sharing!
