Whites Bay, big hills, seafood galore, Robinhood bay

Hey Everyone, this week. We finally make it to the South Island for our first stop off at a DOC camp at Whites Bay about 25km out of Blenheim. It's a windy, narrow and hilly road getting into this location, but man is it a stunning spot to camp.
Great walks, awesome swimming and lots of muscles out on the edge of the rocks.
We also did a day hike over to Robinhood bay where I did a bit of deeper sea snorkelling, with a friend Garth Haylock.
We had some stunning weather, and we really appreciated the fresh fish Floyd and Kim. Hope to see ya'll on the next episode.

Aaaahhh, my old stomping ground. Grew up in Blenheim and spent many a time at Whites Bay, Robinhood Bay etc. Funnily enough, we also called it "Cave Rock" when we were kids. Always visited Whites Bay when my kids were young on our family trips back to NZ. Still looks great...

The roads pretty hard you could probably get in with nearly anything no drop offs though Sarah so you'll be aright. Some other nice beaches if you continue on down the road as well.

Great video Mike, it was awesome getting over the hill from home to meet you guys and hang out in our big back yard. Today I was back out there, doing a crayfish dive over the far side of Port Underwood, near where that power cable heads across to the North Island. Hopefully we will see you back in Marlborough later in the year.

Hey there, it was fine going up the big hill, this is the only sand beach in Blenheim so lots of locals come out for the day so it can get busy. Better to travel with the traffic instead of against it, so if you go out in the afternoon, all the traffic will be heading out , and back into town... We arrived quite late cause we just got off the ferry. Towing to whites beach is all tarseal. Exciting Full time travel is really fun.

Hey mate thanks for reaching out... we definitely have a brave imbalance on the caravan one brake on each side was hot the other just warm. We have a manual truck and actually were in 1st gear to use the engine for braking, so was surprised I could still smell the brakes when we arrived, was only going 25km an hr smell not to bad though... yes there are some big climbs to come which is fine its the decents I worry about... also we were fully loaded going down

@@leopardsgowild we also have a NextGen van (Tekapo). I was towing it with a Ranger. I reckon these dual cab utes are not cut out for towing such a heavily van - even though many kiwis do. that they are 'rated' to 3.5ton is crazy.
