We have left our jobs and rented our house to travel and make memories with our kids before before they reach high-school age... we plan to be on the road as long as we can, exploring around New Zealand 🇳🇿 in our Caravan... we plan to show the highs and the lows of full time family life on the Road... our 3 kids are Jade, Riley and Toby and we are Sophie and Mike.

Another great life journey for you all ❤
Well done guys always a good watch. Good to see Hamner that’s our next stop after Lewis pass! Thanks again for awesome video
Great video Mike, love your work mate thanks .
Thank goodness for those hot springs
Love how honest you guys are. It's not all positive. Good to have the kids on camera as well. Imagine whe9n they're older and can look back on these vids.
Yet another great video, thanks Mike and the gang. Heading up to Mokihinui shortly to [hopefully] escape the cold Christchurch winter. Enjoy your time down south. Cheers.
Awesome mate. Hope the suns shining for you, it's an epic spot up there, it's own micro climate. Catch some fish.
Love your travels and especially the music you use. We do you find it from?
aww thanks mate... Music is all from music bed, it's a subscription youtubers can pay for to use up and coming music artists.
Definitely into the winter conditions there. Hard with no real sun. Glad you had a good soak in the pools. That was almost every school holidays for us as kids growing up, trip to Hanmer and the pools. Was a much smaller complex though. Those kiwicash sites are a great idea.
oh man, /its such a great spot there aye... It feels like this time around we are comparing places between summer and winter lol... Although now we're def back to back in winter... Hot pools are amazing, you must have some great memories.
Nice video, any problems with your water freezing on those cold nights?
yea mate, our outside water tap froze, and grey water outlet as well... We try and keep our waterlines open on nights that cold, we put water into 15 litre plaster buckets for the dump station and turn our water pump off, but was specially cold here.
Cheers, heading into Ashburton Lakes tomorrow, sounds like it will be chilly
Those hot pools look really inviting at this time of year,,. tekapo is a fantastic place to be in mid winter they get those cold clear days with fantastic mountain views
yea mate, crisp in those basins in winter... The hot pools is such a nice way to warm yourself up fully from the cold. We've been through Tekapo, lots of cloud, but we did get 1 really nice day out of the 5 we were here for.
great video again Mike, winter in the South looks like it will be fantastic
We really like the winter to be crisp, being from Rotorua Frost is generally gone by 9am in the morning and it's just cold... It's really interesting seeing all day ice and frost, so novel, we prefer it like that even if we need to leave to get power lol...
NZ MCA camp had plenty in it over matariki weekend.
was the same in Tekapo which is where we were for that weekend, we went from 2 of us to a load of us the following day lol.
Sorry we couldn't catch up with you on this occasion, hope you are all enjoying some wintery conditions. Stay warm guys
Thanks shannon, not your fault we didn't catch up, we'll plan a catch up with Ya'll before we leave the South Island which is not on anyones agenda right now. Hope you guys get the ute sorted so you can get out with the caravan and come find us in one of the coming holidays. love following the boys running adventures, you must be so proud of how well they're doing.
As a born European I will never understand the obsession with the cold. A thermometer to me is like a mood-o-meter. The higher it gets, the better 😅 Well, if you like cold, you definitely came to the right place :)
well our family has discussed this often. Our logic is, if it's going to be cold it should be really cold, so we can see ice, frost and snow, if it's going to be just boring cold, damp, wet, muddy, none of us like that, so lets get to some icy conditions so we can enjoy the winter. lol.
I admire your courage with doing the vlog. I've been on the road 10 years now, would have liked to have had a channel but hate myself on video. Good for you though. I do remote IT work to survive. Was mostly overseas work, then Covid hit, so the local market got used to the idea of remote workers. Then most contractors got the boot here in NZ last year so it's back to mostly international again.
it's a great life style on the road we love it. We originally we're living off savings but loved it so much we wanted to keep going. My wife does remote social work currently a few days a week to keep us on the road.
Morning my friends , 3am here listening while mow the grass in the dark lol 😂 🔦 ⛳️
oh really mowing the lawns at 3am... So american... good golf greens keeper, tee off in t minus 3 hours
@@leopardsgowild led headlights make is keen as powa fritters eh mate?
Woohoo I’m so glad Sophie soaked her bones in Hamner Springs, and you all enjoyed the no ques! I love how Toby always throws ice rocks into every waterway! 🎉, I enjoyed the pumpkin soup, and ciabatta bread! Looking forward to the Leopards go wild Next Adventures, thankyou so much for sharing, as always Arohanui nō Teresa❤🎉
Thanks Teresa, People have requested a montage of Toby throwing things, sounds like a timeless job for me to find all that footage lol, he's such a fun kid. Soup is so underrated for winter... We are currently up at Aoraki it's -4 at 7pm and we're eating soup again.
Ive been watching your channel for a couple of weeks after discovering it. I've just acquired my first caravan and am learning a lot from your epic series. You make the anticipation for getting out on the road so much greater! It's also inspirational that you're doing it all seasons too, which is smart . I think you're doing a fantastic job as a Dad and Hubby too, your kids are going to remember this time forever! I'd like to see a video on the technical side of things, how you deal with water usage ( showers, toilet, waste and fresh water ) your tech specs on power, storage etc, and some monthly costs of running a family on the road. Also how you manage to do this financially? Yeah so many questions, but I'm sure many people would like to learn from you how you do it. Thanks for a great channel, and yes, Ive subscribed!
If you watch from the beginning of their videos most of these have been covered.
Correct... we have a video of our top 5 questions we get asked which should cover most of the questions.
We have over 200 videos we have a few specific ones covering your questions you'll likely have to scroll down a bit... There is one called our 5 most common questions. There's also an ever earlier one before we started travelling talking about how we planned to make like of the road work.
Certainly can get cold in Hanmer this time of year due to them there hills. There’s a freedom camping area beside the Waiau river on the left just before the NZMCA park, gets plenty of sun on a good day but a wee way out from town. I bet you lapped up those hot pools.
yea mate, it's a bit of a basin in there aye. We really wanted to be close to the trails and moving to the NZMCA or free camp was our other option, but after a week off grid, at Murchison and Hanmer, everyone was ready for some power... We loved the hot pools, we all appreciated the hot water and the long showers that followed.
Great video mate… so missing winter camping.. hopefully you’ll get another hoar frost 👍
Yes, we are intentially hanging around in the Mc Kenzie basin waiting for the fog and frosts to roll on in... I predict tomorrow - thursday for the beginning, but I'm just a guesser and hopeful wisher.
G'day folks. Not sure where you are right, now, but a great idea if you haven't already done it, is to use Tekapo as a base. And drive up to Mt John observatory, obviously when it's open. Worth the effort. Take a quick drive through to Twizel and check out the "High Country Salmon Farm." Sometimes they'll let you feed them. Hot pools at Tekapo too. Side trip up to Mt Cook village. On the way...Visit Mesopotamia Station. Clydesdales horse wagon too. Burkes Pass village is worth a visit. And don't forget the possibility of Aurora Australis, in Tekapo. Thanks again for sharing. Take care folks.
thanks mate. We are at Aoraki currently a nice frosty night after some snow fall a few days ago. You've listed off a few of our favorites in the list above, so many great spots and things to see.
Do you get charging off the Hilux while connected and driving?
Minimal. We have an anderson plug but it doesn't put much into the battery bank, although, it can run the 12v system if we were desperate, but the generator is a great option and used by most travellers in the winter.
Hahaha sick!! Perfect audio !!! Cheers leopards ♥️💪✌️🤙

WOW Ataahua rawa/ very beautiful in the winter, I don’t I need to hurry to get there though, I’m a spring baby myself and love being warm, what an excuse lol just nice to look at, not be in myself 🤣Mānawatia a Matariki🎉
Pretty cold today, tonight is freezing and tomorrow is looking at a high of 0 degrees Soph will be freezing she definitely likes the warm
@@leopardsgowild I love the Leopard go Wild content, awesome editing too Mike, keep warm everyone, oh no so cold down in Te Wai Pounamu, we have our heat pump blasting, hopefully it won’t get too cold up here. A high of 11 and a low of 2degrees Celsius, very bearable, Pō Marie the Leopards, arohanui Teresa😍
Hey mate,I have a hill behind me. The locals say if you can see it, then it's going to snow. If you can't see it, then it is snowing. I can see it, for now.! Watch this space.! Thanks for sharing.
The best view ever. Love snow covered mountains.
It's amazing alright, place was beautiful this morning
Truck looks a bit small for that rig.
Perspective does make it look tiny... it's a great tow vehicle, no worries towing and caravans fully braked as well.
Ok i give in. Where are you.? Thank you for sharing. Btw when you sing, your voice sounds like Michael Bublé. Absolute quality.
Lol... I'm a good singer so my mum says... Aoraki, mt Cook
Looks like Mt cook national park...wait it won't be long before the DOC ranger comes knocking telling you to move on...they don't do individual responsibility in the government anymore... enjoy!!.❤️🇳🇿
We were waiting I think if we had a 3 day snow forecast we would have got the boot despite having provisions for 7 days +.... But forecast tomorrow is sunny 🌞
Wow!!! But 🥶
It's not to bad inside 18 degrees in here
Get it Toby🎉Brrr makariri😱🥶
It does look quite disproportionate in this shot.
Talk about freezing fingers, got some good boots at least

That swing bridge is a complete ripoff. The guy there is a grumpy old git. Do not recommend. You have been warned.
It is a bit pricey we enjoyed the walks and had the place to ourselves, but you can do very similar things for free along the west coast

Awesome guys! We are watching this clip while heading down Tory channel bound for the South Island can’t wait!
Nice hope it's a nice sailing
GREAT VIDEO , HOPE TOOTHS BETTER, WHAT SIZE IS YOUR AWING? WHAT BRAND? COST?
Hey there awning must be about 6 or 7 metres long brand is Dometic and came with the caravan so unsure of price... Mouth is feeling much better, that experience was horrendous
I find it interesting you play Guitar as apart from enjoying your videos I really like the music that goes with them, Guitar is also a hobby of mine.
Music runs in my family I can play drums and piano as well, self taught... I have my guitar with me in the caravan but haven't used it anywhere near as much as I thought
I can understand your feelings, I lived & worked there at the lodge on the other side of the river in the winter of 1982 Fantastic place. 8 days of -18deg frosts.
Oh mate that's full on, would have been a white out
@@leopardsgowild That it was, have photos of my kids walking on lake Gunn up where you were camping
After done watching this, I was like you guys are a really great parents, very inspiring. Wishing your channel and abundance of growth🙌 😊 I am just wondering, what do you guys use for your internet? If you don't mind me asking is there any good sim for internet especially if going on camping?
Thank you was a big plan and lots of work to get on the road to travel... There are a lot of internet options we use a company called wireless nation which uses cell phone towers. Phone plans with Data are very responsible price here
Hi how do you find the places to go and work out were you are going to go, great videos from a New Zealander that hasn’t seen much
Hey there. There are some apps you can download like camper mate and wiki camps which you can purchase for a few dollars but has good info regarding free camps. Plenty of great low cost camping to be had
Hi. What is the brand / power of the generator you use . Thxs
It's unbranded off trade me, 800w inverter generator vwas $350
Coming from the uk ,having spent time in NZ I can honestly say that Nz is better in every single way
We spent a month in the UK back in 2009... You guys have good public transport, much cheaper groceries, awesome historical sites, but yes I think we win in most out areas lol... How long did you visit here for?
Nice to see Soph take control of the camera
tell me about it. She's not really that keen on cameras, but if you ever see us, she's always a good yarn.
Nice video
Thanks guys, hope OZ is awesome.
