Another brilliant adventure. There's definitely an advantage with river valleys that are lightly grazed by cattle, keeping them open and picturesque. A few places they have stopped grazing and the weeds and scrub quickly take over. Those serviced huts are getting expensive! Worth it for the occasional awesome visit though. Definitely a flash hut. I've carried plenty of bacon, eggs, steak and potatoes out into the wilderness for a great first night feed.

It's so nice having the valleys open, otherwise you can miss the seeing the awesome spot you are on. Huts were pretty awesome, we were wondering if we wanted to spend that much on an over night hike, but with that great weather and awesome swimming hole as well, totally worth it.

Great trip and perfect for a family. I love those open river valleys too, in fine weather but glad of the bush in bad weather. I can understand why the hut prices have increased so much with the storm damage there has been to DOC huts, bridges and tracks in the last couple of years. Their budget would never stretch that far and with all the other storm damage to repair around the country that affects so many people, I can't see this being increased for a very long time. Lovely video, thanks.

New Zealands been hammered with massive storms the past few years aye, a lot of it in the summer time as well, we've def seen the erosion , lanp slips and broken infrastructure on our travels... Pretty hard for DOC to keep up with it all. Beautiful area to be able to explore and have some refugee and a nice bed for the night. Thanks for watching.

Back in my day they called the color of the water "TEAL GREEN".. your right about the price being OTT , that probably explains why you had the hut all to yourself..good to see Toby's still on his personal quest to throw a rock into every river and lake in nz.. legend!!.❤️🇳🇿

ha ha, yep Toby always has a rock, stick or pinecone in his hand. River was pretty beautiful through there, lovely spot to swim and enjoy... Prices have gone up a lot, but seems to be less on offer with a lot of DOC sites... Staying at Kinloch we had 1 DOC worker come over the 7 days we were there, which meant that was the only times the toilets got a clean and top up.
