I know Jotaro is wasting time talking, but I notice he seems to be also having a hard time figuring out what to do. Which is scary, he actually doesnt know what to and only used Time Stop just to give himself time to figure out. Especially when he notice something unexpected. The worst part, his Time Stop was more nerfed so he doesnt have much time to figure out too.

@@acharple The maximum a "human" can time stop is 5 well according to DiO it's a rough estimation for his time stop at least unless your a Vampire which goes above 5 In part 4 Jotaro at that time barely fought now since he was busy with his life then had to fight during Morio same with part 5 he was just doing desk work or at least as we see he is doing desk work and nothing else

I must say that the Johngally's design is pretty cool

Did everyone forget that talking is a free action? When Jotaro or DIO stop time, the seconds are counted in seconds of movement. If they dont move, then they dont use up any of their time. So Jotaro's time stop is so short that he only had enough time to jump in front of Jolyne.

Jotaro's timestop got weaker in SO. The duration dropped, it only came back to normal near the end. Plus DIO could spam TS and increase it due to his vampiric nature, Jotaro's human and can't do it for extremely long in a spammy nature. The most he ever just spammed it in fast succession was against Rat but the TS was shorter anyways.

I know a lot of people are just doing it for the memes but for the ones looking for some kind of answer to why Jotaro took so long and basically wasted his seconds. My personal point Is the startle effect quite known in aviation. To paraphrase; in aviation it is the time you waste while your brain is still processing the unexpected stimulation and your body only operates the immediate reflex actions. So the pilot is stuck for some seconds in a state where his/her body doesn't move because the brain is still processing what happened and so the pilot does not know what to do. Usually it doesn't last more than 4 seconds in aviation and of course training and mental checks keeps the amount of seconds down. But one of the main things that worsen this effect is drum roll...age. While you gain more experience, your ability to take action and process the situation WHILE coming up with a solution to the problem gets worse with age. So taking this example to Jotaro here, he actually didn't do that bad if it took him 3 second to understand the situation, take action (more of a reflex action than anything)but of course could not come up with a solution and was caught by WS. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Edit: on the topic of aviation, remember Jotaro was in Africa when he found out she was in jail so he flew all the way to USA and then we see him in this scene. So on top of age we can comfirm he also has jet lag (between 6 to 7 hours of difference compared to the East time in the US).

No, Jotaro was taking too long to think in stopped time, SP is way faster than that

Remember, Jotaro had no idea the ability of White Snake (which is the advantage of Stand User when the enemy doesn't know about your Stand). He also late one second or a move because he chose to save Jolyne instead of immediately attack White Snake.

2:00 that TOKI WO TOMAREE hits really hard

I don't really understand why people are saying this should have been an easy win for Jotaro here. Even with Star Platinum's speed, I don't think he's able to disable a stand and deflect several bullets in the span of two seconds, even when he was in his prime. Grabbing Jolyne and trying to run wouldn't work either due to the same time constraint, plus the fact that they are still being hunted by two stand users who have much greater knowledge of the environment around them.

1. Time stop is five seconds in part 6. 2. Star Platinum is light speed. In fact, at some point he’s faster than light. This would have allowed him to first punch Whitesnake in the face during timestop so that he would be disoriented when time resumed and then deflect the bullets aimed at Jolyne. Even if he had one second left, he would have been able to do this. And there’s no way it took the entire five seconds for Jotaro to deduce that there’s two enemy stands. Jotaro is not that slow in thinking.

SO manga Ch 13 + the timestop didn't end because he thought for too long, it ended because it took the entire timestop for him to move Jolyne out of the way. Time is only expended in stopped time for actions and movements. If it took that long for him to do even that, he had no time to defend from either enemy stand user without someone getting hurt.

@@danicabescae9689 Oh yeah, it is 2 seconds. I guess that’s fair, but I still think Jotaro should have time to act out of time stop too. He’s confirmed several times to be light speed (fighting Silver Chariot, Josuke saying how Jotaro is the only one capable of stopping light speed stand Hot Chili Peppers, and Araki again saying it in part 6 stand info pages) and light is one million times faster than the average silencer. Plus, Whitesnake is a D in speed. And while stand stats are inconsistent, they’re not outrageously inconsistent to the point where they are unreliable in most cases. Usually, the rankings are only 1 spot off. There’s no way Whitesnake is a B or A (although I have no idea of his speed feats. I’m just basing this off of logic from previous stand depictions and their stats). If Jotaro didn’t barrage the bullets and just quickly take one swipe at them and then move to Whitesnake immediately afterward, problem solved. The only way Jotaro actually lost is because it’s been too long since he’s been in a fight like this and he’s not thinking at the top of his game (but his deductive skills are still great though so idk).

It's good how Jotaro gets his Stand disc stolen and still encourages Jolyne to reach safety.

yall are very harsh when it comes to Jotaro and his time stopping abilities. This man is old, is processing wtf is going on in just four seconds, and is probably going through jet lag since he just got there from africa to where jolyne is. give my man a break. I mean, shouldnt we congratulate him for being a quick thinker and be able to make a decision in just two seconds?

My favorite part of part 6 so far is that even in the middle of an argument characters still take each other seriously about enemies. Jolyne ducking without question despite just yelling at Jotaro, Jotaro being told something impossible is happening and just going "Ok, I believe you" and immediately taking action. That was my favorite thing about part 5 too, they took even the suggestion of an enemy very seriously.

People forget how the time stop had worked on previous parts (manga and anime) or they just bringing this again? Literally DIO and Jotaro always talk more than actually fight when they bring The World. The time stop we see as viewers it's obviously not the same as its supposed to be inside the universe of Jojo (Japanese people and his writing were always descriptive as hell). I would get it if it was the first time that time stop it's presented but seriously? after a lot of seasons?

I JUST noticed when I watched this, that this battle is a MASSIVE parallel to the ending of SO. I won’t say why, it just is.

*Jotaro (jumping in to save Jolyne):* "Yare yare. This is like Koichi with Sheer Heat Attack all over again. Oh well. At least Jolyne will be able to bring me back by making my heart beat again with her Stand. Did I teach her that trick?...Yes, I'm pretty sure."

The fact that once you're stand is taken, you ultimately die right away, but Jotaro is just always so determined he practically cheated death just a bit longer to protect his daughter. And people think he didn't care for her.

his biggest weakness is figuring out how to protect others. the only times i distinctly remember him being crippled to hell other than VS dio was to protect koichi, and here, jolyne

@@snubbull7309 no. It is often leaked because of the plot. he has the strongest, fastest, strongest, best stand. The snake was close to him, a couple of blows would have been enough, despite the fact that his stand, according to Araki, moves faster than light. count how many nano seconds it takes to just throw it back, stun it for a while. Do not forget about his greatest combat experience - than anyone else. It was possible to repulse with a stand that may appear two meters from you, and move a thousand times faster than you, OR repulse with your own body, stand in place, and repulse the bullets. Moreover, Jotaro is very smart and could guess that if this is a double attack, and they were ready for this moment, then they would attack him from behind. remember the moment with Kira. he then looked down half dead and when the Killer Queen attacked him - he reacted and beat him. And in the anime / manga - Jotaro turned his head towards him when he could calmly beat him with a stand, even purely he was able to react to the movement of White Snake's hand. purely in terms of characteristics, it is many times stronger. in speed it is 'exceptional' among the A ranks. It is often underestimated. you can just remember the moments from 3 parts ... 2 seconds is a lot, when the stand moves faster than the speed of light, you can move with the movements reinforced by the stand, which allows you to be in the air for a long time (3 part. often he just runs when it not effective).

I think in time stop the user can think but his time limit will start when you move. Remember vs dio he was wating for his chance of attack, but only after he moved his time froze back. So his inner speech should not hinder his time limit.

I like this theme when Johngalli A appears, it seems so strange and dangerous, i wish stone ocean ost was released faster

It's anime so logic won't apply much, but if you ask me, mostly because when you see characters that are talking in time stop, they mostly are thinking than talking, so despite how long the dialogue took, in real-time those characters just spend probably 3s to think the situation

Yeah in Manga/Anime when characters are thinking its almost never in real time. Its just there for the reader/viewer to understand their thought process. It feels better in manga than in Anime though.

White Snake is stupidly op, the disc swipe is a literal one shot move, it can also create acid that can cause illusions allowing it to disguise as other people and create dreams, its speed is the same as Stone Free as confirmed by Araki (the D in Speed is for his Acid ability) and yet the stand can still be way further from the user than normal.

If you look very closely you'll see that the door that is very much bent is indeed actually bent.

Everyone seems confused so I'll say this. In the manga, it was stated that he could only stop time for 2s at most in part 6. In two seconds, an old man was able to figure out the enemy's plan and save Jolyne.

If everyone thinks Jotaro is using too much time doing his monologue remember manga panels and anime flow differently that's why 5 second anime timestop is just 1 or 2 pages in the manga with many texts

The amount of people that cannot comprehend that Jotaro could not defeat White snake and save Jolyne at the same time is ridiculous. The man has two seconds of time stop, not two minutes. Actually it's because Whitesnake removed the disc's (memory and stand) and it's slowly dying

He see white snake for drama effect. Araki could have just drawn Jotaro save his daughter and get rekt from behind but like Avdol Araki made him see the threat to add more will into the sacrifice. With that we know that Jotaro is willing to save.

As of this moment in time Jotaro is only capable of 0.5secs of time stop. He is no longer in his prime and is doing the best he can.

He has 3 seconds, man... and he only realized WhiteSnake was there after a second passed, which means he really only has 2 seconds to stun whitesnake, AND protect Jolyne. Harder than it seems

@@casualfool122 yeah but considering what star platinum could do WITHOUT time stop in part 3, even after almost two decades, he should be able to at least save jolyne, beat the crap out of whitesnake AND jongalli a, and somehow find and light some cigar. And then have 1 second left of stopped time

​@@andremarques3317 I can see your point, but even in his prime Jotaro wasn't a miracle worker, doing his things till took time. 2 Seconds is not enough time to get anything done except dash into Jolyne or hit WS a few times. So it's really just a choice, A. Beat up WS and let Jolyne get shot by 7 Bullets (Yes, I counted) or B. Save Jolyne but let yourself get destroyed. Obviously, Jolyne is Jotaro's only weakness, so it's obvious what he chose to do in those 2 seconds.

Fun Fact: The thinking is so the viewer can understand what the hell is happening, it really only happens for like 1 second. Also, he has to A. Figure out what the hell is happening B. Protect Jolyne and C. Stun Whitesnake so they can get away, all in *3 Seconds.* Yeah he doesn't have plot armor anymore tho

I mean nah, Talking and thinking is a free action in Jojo, so that didn't waste his time. Case in point. He literally is still like part 4 where he had trouble maintaining time stop for 5 whole seconds. so in reality he probably froze time for like 3 seconds just now.
