As someone who grew up on Commander Keen, the one that eluded me until I saw how it was done on KZread was the first level secret. I remember having a special hint sheet that mentioned that there were 7 1UPs hidden in the first level and I searched high and low for it. Which is funny because I was typically pretty good at discovering some of the most obscure secrets elsewhere by myself. The inch worm secret I needed help from my dad. The hint sheet said there was a play on words hidden in the character screen. Somehow my dad was able to put it together. I also spent sooo much time trying to figure out how to get to that unreachable area at the bottom of the Lifewater Oasis. I was so mad when I discovered well later on that I spent all that time searching for nothing. This was all before the world wide web, really. The only info we got came in those tangible pieces of paper.

Yeah, it was a wild time and I even do not know til this day how I figure these things out. Maybe I played it a bit too much. But still I finde new secrets now and then, which is amazing. Commander Keen is really an old classic. :) Thank you for your comment.

A good secret area is in none other than the Pyramid of the Moons. Because the Inchworm/Foot secret is so prevalent, it's easy to miss the secret area within the secret area. If you go down to where the 12 inchworms are, to the left, cross the bridge that can be closed with a switch, there's a hidden pole just beyond the four green dart guns in the ceiling. Ascending this pole will get you into a dangerous area with slugs and licks and more downward-facing dart guns. There's a door that leads to a Lifewater Flask but there's actually ANOTHER secret area above that door that leads to an arch of 6 ice cream cones. It's in a little room with a door that leads to the top of the pyramid, on the outside! You can then drop back down into the pyramid through the gap in the yellow limestone and complete the level as normal -- or you could catch the goplat to get back to the first area so that you can summon the Foot. You just need to be careful (if you still have the yellow key) not to land on the yellow keygem holder -- or the arachnut!

I discovered that when I was younger and was disappointed that it didn't lead to the secret level.
