Shark in the water. Periodt. They brought in so many iconic characters within that 1 promo

Nothing will ever beat "Shark In the Water". I felt like that was the show's way of saying "We're going for something new, something exciting and fresh" and it worked like a charm. Degrassi changed it's course after that.

hands down shark in the water. aside ftom the fact that the song is still in my playlist. it was the hype tho. remember how deep the deconstruction went? It truely set the tone for the reboot. The shark in the water era i was legit on degrassiblog all hours of every day.

I am literally so blessed to have witnessed degrassi shark in the water promo live it is what go me into the show- I was like this looks intriguing I want to know more

Shark in the water was ICONIC!!! I remember being mind blown

The Boiling Point was truly event television for teens. It made Degrassi feel like a summer of could-not-miss premieres.

Shark in the Water, no contest. It was the production team's way of saying "this is where everything changes." The other seasons had high stakes, but as far as taking a sharp turn in what makes the show tick, there can only be one.

Shark in the water was peak promo material. The Claire and Eli scene had the entire fandom going through a tower moment.

Shark in the Water was absolutely everything, summer after high school I had college coming up..this song played non stop on my iPod. But I will say Bite Your Tongue was amazingly done.

same! I graduated from high school in 09 and went off to University in 2010. played this song constantly on my ipod as well and watched this promo over and over again.

Holly J opening up the curtain with the wave of her hand is and will forever be ICONIC Dont get me wrong, the highschool club stereotypes in Bite Your tongue really scratches an itch for me

I remember when the shark in the water promo first came out and it had me so excited! I was so hype every time I saw it come on tv! Those were good times man! What a good summer😭

Easy Shark in the Water

I never even WATCHED Degrassi but the Shark in the Water promo is ICONIC. I'll NEVER forget watching the music video in between other shows and being both so confused and totally interested. The song is amazing and the video itself had such a cool concept.

I gotta go with shark in the water. That was such a turning point in the degrassi Franchise. I remember when that promo came out and feeling excited/anxious for the season to start but also on the fence about the new characters and storylines that were to come. I do love every single music video they did as well, but there’s just something about the shark in the water promo that just stood out for me and changed degrassi in a new and better way.

although season 11 is most aesthetically pleasing for me, my order is #1 - season 10 Shark in the water #2 - season 12 Bite your tongue #3 - season 11 Steal Your Heart #4- season 14

just rewatched s10 with a friend, and it made me realize no one can ever really experience what it was like watching it as is aired back in 2010. I always come check your channel when I get nostalgic and it helps ease the pain as we enter this indefinite degrassi hiatus :(

I was in highschool 2010 to 2014, so I graduated when Clare/Ali/Connor/Jenna did and I remember Shark in the Water clearly. It was a phenomenon and got me so hyped. To this day, I'm partial to Season 10 - 13

False. The best era was with Emma, Jimmy, Spinner, etc. Hands. Down. How can you even question that?!

He DID say it was the best lmao. He's just saying regarding the FANDOM season 10 and on was the best for fandom interaction. There really wasn't a super cohesive fandom during the TNG seasons, as in there wasn't a place where everyone could talk and speculate about the show.

SHARK IN THE WATER!! I REMEMBERED WHEN THAT ACTUALLY AIRED OMG SO ICONIC AND WHEN I THINK BACK TO A CERTAIN PART IN MY CHILDHOOD I THINK OF THAT VIDEO OMG

Shark In The Water was the best and season 10 was the best from that era imo. But i still like the original seasons better especially season 5. I just loved the cast more and the way the sets looked. Could mostly be nostalgia lol but still my favorite

the fact that i was only 11 when shark in the water happened, and i still remember how big of an event it was. i js started rewatching season 10, and remember everything clearly

I love this and how you described each of them! Now I have the urge to go rewatch each of these! Miss seeing them on tv!❤️ I’d say my top favorite is either shark in the water promo or steal your heart. But I love them all so much because they were like sneak peeks into what we could expect.

I loved the “Shark In The Water”. promo the best. It was the first done and the hints they gave about what was to come in the season were subtle but meaningful. The situation with Holly J and Sav was epic. Clare and Eli...nuff said. Also the whole Vegas Night atmosphere , mixed with the carnival was great. It hinted at the finale of the season, and I remember watching each week to see how it would build to that point. You can’t mention the promo videos without mentioning the commercials for Degrassi that aired on Teen Nick at that time. I’d like to see a video dedicated to those.

Shark in the water is amazing, but the one with the Drew/Clare/Eli love triangle and the baby carriage is pretty awesome too because the baby carriage is basically foreshadowing what happens. I LOVE SEASON 12 though

That order is the same as mine! Shark in the water is classic, but bite your tongue was just so well done. The way they timed the music with the moments, and showed the different sides was brilliant, I've watched that promo SO many times. The advertising for that era was SO GOOD. I remember getting as hyped for the promos as the episodes and watching every single one, and I loved how they named a group of episodes like "In Too Deep". It really was prime Degrassi fan experience, I miss it.

I watched Shark In The Water when it aired and I was hooked. I never saw season 11 or 12 promos cuz I moved and didn't have cable. I saw the season 14 one the day it premiered on KZread but having not even knowing about the two middle ones I just thought it was another random decision. Interesting to get all this information. Thank you. On my way to check out the promos I missed

Your mind. This is exactly how my list is. As much as I love S10 Promo it is perfection I loved how S12 was executed the music, the theme, the introduction of characters I loved it.

Thank you for creating this video, Kary. You mentioned some facts about the show circa Season 10 that I was unaware of, due to not being able to watch live or newly aired episodes around that time. I will be re-reading Stephen’s book from an updated perspective. I appreciate how you are continuing to promote Degrassi’s legacy even as we reside in this limbo of “the show is pretty much cancelled, but without any official announcements from Netflix, and there’s always a possibility it will be picked-up again in the future a la TNG S1 but we really don’t know anything at this time”. While the future is unclear, this show will live on in the fandom - new fans and old fans alike - forever. This show taught me hope at a young age, and I’d like to believe that, despite having no new content for years, Degrassi contributes to inspire. Thanks for all you do.

I gasped so loudly when you said Shark in the Water was two wow... I thought you were about to say something controversial that happened with the season 11 promo and I was ready for the tea but then Shark in the Water?!?! Smh to each their own I guess

Man, this brings me back memories... I'd have to say: "Shark in the Water" and "Steal your heart". They were iconic and speak so much to my teen life. I also like the "I surrender" one as well.

As much as I love the older seasons, Shark in the Water was the best promo. I randomly had that song in my head a few months back and remembered where it was from after a few seconds. Even though it had been years since I've seen it I remembered how good that promo was. Can't say the same for any of the others.

Rewatching all of degrassi in quarantine and came across this video. I remember so vividly watching on teen nick the promos for degrassi the boiling point and the moment where Mr. Simpson said degrassi is on lockdown. The hype was real and the season didnt disappoint. I loved the other music video promos as well but season 10 stood out so much for me because I had watched the previous seasons in the past occasionally over the years but that season made me watch every day when the episodes aired.

There’s actually a full Shark in the Water Music Video that features VV Brown herself. While she doesn’t interact with the Degrassi cast in it. It allows it to work as a legit music video that stands on it’s own and not just a TV Promo.

Season 10 was where I got hooked to degrassi. If I didn’t randomly turn on teenick and see season 10 and the music video promo I wouldn’t have gotten so hooked to the show.

the s10-12 era of degrassi was everything. i'd argue it's one of the show's primes. i remember coming home from school everyday and turning on the tv to see what eli and clare were up to and everything else that was going on. ur so right in that it revitalized the show and breathed new life into it because it was reaching a lull before that point. the telenovela format worked so well for the plot and storylines. however, i would have been interested to see a spinoff with some of the ogs in hollywood. i'm just curious to see what that would look like, and i do miss seeing some of them on a regular basis.

Agree with you that the "S10 Era" was an iconic and unforgettable era for fans who were watching at the time. Degrassi content on tumblr was never-ending, and everyone would liveblog the episodes as they came out every weekday. The excitement was INSANE when compared to the previous, lackluster seasons (7-9) which no one seemed to care about. Fan engagement was just completely revived.

I think the music for season 14 is the reason it was the worst the one. Plus the drama featured in there was almost predictable besides the Clare piece. Meanwhile, I will always argue that Shark In The Water was hands down the best one. It made me super excited to watch the season even though the OG cast had officially left.

I haven'tgotten through half the vid and I can tell you that the boiling point promo with Shark In the Water was DYNAMITE!!! It was hands down the best!!! I don't even remember bite your tongue lol. Uggghhh Cam...so sad!

Shark in the Water is by far the most gut punching, visceral reaction I ever got out of the music video promos. I did have Mandela Effect though, in my memory I could have sworn it was Drew up against the wall with a knife. I actually didn’t know there was a Season 14 promo until today. I liked Bite Your Tongue a lot and it definitely hypes you up for the season but definitely just had more of an emotional connection to Shark in the Water.

Bite your tongue is cool for sure, but no way you really think it's better than Shark in the Water.

Seasons 1-9 will always hold dear to my heart growing up. Season 10 promo was amazing I agree but after that season it kinda fell flat without the OG characters… IMO
