@shanerRC The spine is a couple inches higher than where he hit. He hit a high shoulder shot, aka the scapula, which drops the deer instantly, taking out both legs and the lungs and shutting down the nervous system

When I use a rifle I go for neck, shot 13 deer with my 308 and all 13 of them dropped, didn’t even hear the shot.

I thought bro tanked that fucking shot when it replayed 💀💀

Looked awful high. Probably only dropped because the shot went through his spine

I would like to see the inside of that deer, the front shoulder, the tenderloin. As long as there’s no wasted meat I would say this is an excellent shot placement and something I may adopt.

That shot destroyed the left shoulder, the tenderloin, and 1/2 the backstrap. It also caused lots of pain and suffering.

What scope is that? Camera built in?

a spine shot on the back will always be the quickest way to dispatch an animal but if you aim for the neck you can disconnect the main artery at the same time and you wont wreck the back straps. you will wreck neck meat but you'll save the loins.

If the crosshairs show where the hunter was actually aiming, this was not the best shot placement. Too high. A more high probability shot - follow the the back of the front leg up into the body cavity about 4”-5”. That is a heart or (if slightly off) a double lung shot.

Dang. My first shot was a kill, probably 150 yds, and he was walking towards me. I didn’t learn about the broadside thingamajig so I just shot and prayed.

After lots of practice and studying you can find out

Too high. You dont have to search for the animal, cause the spine is off. A good shot is lungs and hart. Allways deadly, but can run a little bit.

When you break the spine, the animal is going no where.... Boiler shots...you could loose an animal.... 95% of the time, I aim for the ear ... guess that's just how I was raised to shoot

Way too high bud, your not giving yourself any room to miss, nor for movement. You're going to regret this tactic some day. The heatt is about 4 inches from the brisket. You're just aiming for bone. At least aim for lungs or liver

Head and neck shots are discouraged because of the high risk of it being non-fatal. The head and neck look big but the vital area within the head and neck is quite small
