This really makes me miss moose hunting. I was 13 when I shot my first moose. I live in a small village in Alaska and we hunt moose every year to survive because we’d go broke otherwise as the store meats are far too expensive. It’s our village tradition to give our first moose to the people of the village via potluck, so I shot two moose in one week and that was a really amazing week. Some of these shots are really amazing shots. It’s great to see people hunting moose to eat and not just for trophy

If you are off by even 2" you miss or worse yet critically wound the animal. You might shoot off its jaw or knock out an eye. The animal may take a week to finally die. There are few things worse, at least for me than wounding a deer. I don't want the animal to suffer.

Once we got it to flatter terrain we got our quads to haul it to our trucks. Even with 5 guys, it was hard. You need to be in decent shape. Thanks very much for watching our videos. We shoot a variety of calibers and grain, but 30-06 and 300wsm are some of our favorite calibers and 180grain when it comes to moose. We prefer to shoot moose in the lungs and heart. Even though our first shots are typically on mark and vital, we try to always put the moose down quickly with a follow up shot when possible, as they can still run off for a good ways before succumbing to the first shot.

@SalNova15 I agree. But it's not just Canada, the entire western world is struggling with a huge push from authoritarian governments trying to infringe on our rights, the US included. All I'm saying is there is still a very rich firearms culture here and many of us own and operate them. There is also a huge outdoors culture and we can essentially explore and camp for free at will. Even though things are tough, sometimes people tend to sensationalize everything that's going on and make it sound much worse than it really is.

@@canadaintheroughtv What he's saying is if you spend enough range time you don't need the shooting stick. Those 200 - 250-yard shots you should be making while shooting offhand easily with or without a scope, a shooting stick, tripod, or any other aid. If you're not it shows a lack of proficiency, preparation and commitment to your craft. Too many segments in this video you're pumping 2-3 rounds in the animal when it should only take one, again that shows a lack of proficiency, or preparation in setting up your rifle. Your videos I've seen, you regularly shoot at moving animals, a practice that violates the simplest of hunting ethics: Don't shoot unless you are sure you have a clean shot.

Moose are abundant here. They are an important part of our food supply. That moose fed multiple families. The license to harvest that moose was issued by the government who pays biologists to monitor and study populations to ensure sustainability. Wild game meat is a smart choice. Wild game is the most renewable, the most sustainable, the most organic, the most lean, and the most environmentally friendly meat source on the planet

awesome content. I've been hunting my entire life out here and seen some amazing moose out here huge moose with some spreads 70 plus inches. we look at those and take a picture and pass on by, we usually hunt the smaller ones. best eating ones are the palm sized ones or the forks. hunting season has opened up been looking for the right moose but keep seeing the cows with calves. we just got back from a weekend trip and again cows and calves.. can't seem to get a break.

@@blakehasberg5490 you don't understand we have to hunt out here if we don't we go hungry. Beef is 15 to 20 dollars a pound. Where as a moose is a 1000 pounds or more. And the Mount of gas used to hunt is how much you pay. And your sickness I guess I can say I hope you choke on a salad and you survive. Lol. Or a blade of grass chases you down lol ignorance is always received with skepticism. I wish you can come out to rural Alaska and see it yourself first hand how we actually live. The common misconception that you and many others make is to equate hunting with shooting. Much of hunting is about doing what you can so as to make the shooting aspect as easy as possible. This may involve spending hours getting to within 100 yards of an animal as opposed to taking the easier option of shooting them at 500 yards when they're not even aware of your presence. Target shooting does not have to account for any form of animal welfare or recovery of shot animals, and therefore you're free to challenge yourself to your heart's desire.
