Blue was written for Patsy Cline but she died in a accident and never sang it , the composer put the song away and said nobody could sing it, then one day he heard LeAnn Rimes sing in a talent contest at the age of 13 . he was so impressed that he got the song out of his safe and had LeAnn Rimes sing it. It is so much like Patsy so incredible.

Leann Rimes had an incredibly mature voice for someone so young. You’ll have to listen to her stellar How Do I Live Without You, one of the biggest hit songs ever. She also did a duet with Elton John that hit #29 in 1999: Written In The Stars.
Leann Rimes recorded this in 1995 , and the director of this video gave his directions , but the people confused the directors instructions and rather than recording a new version and using the new version , they confused the directors instructions and used the older version and released the older version instead ,

Hey guys. This song is old. It was pitched to Patsy Cline via a tape given to her husband. Sadly Patsy died before recording it. Leann does a great job on it. There is another great performance of it worth listening to as well. There is a family bluegrass/gospel band called The Petersens. One of the gals (Ellen) sings this song and is equally amazing. You should check out their band too. That is indeed yodeling. Whenever you hear that break at the high end (even if it's just one note) it's a yodel.

Patsy died before she ever heard the song. It was written in 1958 by Bill Mack. He has continually denied that he wrote it specially for Cline. Before LeAnn, the song was recorded by at least five artists (Mack himself in 1958, Kenny Roberts in 1966, Roy Drusky circa 1960-70s, Polly Stephens Exley in the late 1980s, and Kathryn Pitt in 1993).

I'm a little late to the Show but your video came up on my screen and there is no way I would ever pass up an opportunity to miss this song by LeAnn Rimes. I'm going to guess you guys know the song 'Crazy'. It has gone down in history of one of our Countries greatest hits of all time and it is the most played song on the old juke boxes which were in every diner and restaurant. I bring it up because the singer was Patsy Cline, the most famous Country singer of all at that time. The song, 'Blue' was meant for her to sing but tragedy struck and Patsy died in a plane crash. Eventually, the people who owned the rights to the song discovered LeAnn and she recorded it at 13 or 14 years old. Her voice is similar to Patsy's and LeAnn through the years has sung at many tributes to Patsy Cline and the audience always marvels how well LeAnn sings her songs. Yes, you just heard "Greatness" !

She covered Unchained Melody and blew the roof off. You saw the Righteous Brothers sing that one. Absolutely a powerhouse.
I keep saying I'm not into country music and then I listen to stuff like this and realize there's a looooooooooooot of exceptions. Man, so wonderful.
And that isn't even one of her best songs. She is amazing.
If you are interested, Leann Rimes is performing on here, when she was 14 doing the " COWBOY SWEETHEART", performing with amazing yodellinng!!!!!!! SIMPLY AMAZING !!!!!
Oo yes. She’s one of my favorite current artists. I got to hear her live a few years ago and it was amazing. She’s so down to earth too. The concert was just in a field and she was up there on a stool in her jean shorts. 😂 Her voice is insane though. I absolutely love it. ❤❤❤ I believe she was around 15 or 16 when she recorded this.
The yodelling is pure country in this context. Great, great voice Very Patsy Cline and that’s a high bar
You've made me so very happy. BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS. Do that one please!!!!
I read something that said when this song was written, it was given to Patsy Cline to sing; however, she died before she ever got to record it. It essentially sat on the shelves...until LeAnn Rimes shows up
Her debut hit at just 13! Beautifully done! I saw her in concert! Fabulous! Also, please, listen to her remake of Unchained Melody? She debuted in the 1990s, singing that old-style song the Patsy Cline was supposed to record; but she died before she could!
I remember the first time I heard this song, I flat-out thought it was an unreleased track from Patsy Cline. LeAnn was so young when she recorded this. She has an incredible voice. Try listening to One Way Ticket and How Do I Live. Both awesome! Great reaction…💕
There's a lot of amazing vocalists and LeAnn Rimes is one of them.
She revirded this in the 90s. She amazed everyone because she was a young teenager and sounded exactly like Patsy Cline!!! She still gives me goosebumps.
You listen to her sing Crazy, She's Got You, and Sweet Dreams! It will blow you aways, it did me anyway. Nobody can sing Patsy like this lovely lady.
Thank you for playing LeAnn Rimes! I love her voice…she’s amazing. You’ve got to listen to her rendition of Crazy!! She also did a live tribute performance for Patsy Cline a few years back that was incredible! BTW, I think she was 14 when she recorded Blue.
If Leanne sounds a bit like the Amazing Patsy Cline it's because this song was written for Patsy prior to her death in a Plane crash. Leanne was only 13 as a Teen Country Phenom who was given this song and won Awards for her mature voice and this song, this recording back in 1996. Leanne has one of those voices where she can sing any genre. She 's performed with many other artists including Jon Bon Jovi.
If you want to hear more of that yodeling from Leann Rimes you should check out Cowboys sweetheart. She was about 14 when she recorded it.
Guys I saw Leann rimes, she was fourteen.I actually cried, she was amazing
This reminded me of Tanya Tucker, who was 13 when she had her first hit Delta Dawn.

awww Amber you always look so pretty and exude happiness. Love the hoodie color.
Leann won the Masked Singer as The Sun. Her performances were flawless
Wow....loveeee this song!!! Since I'm new to your channel, I scrolled through your videos to see what all you've listened to/reacted to. You have such an amazing list of reallllly great songs in so many different genres! LOVE IT!! Looking forward to listening to so awesome music and watching your reactions....😊🤩
Blue came out in 1994,, when country songs were still a bit "TWANGIE". Blue was a song written for Patsy Cline to sing, but she died before she could record it. The writer put it away forever,, until he heard LeAnn singing, and he specifically took it out of his catalog, and asked her to sing it. [2] Yes, it is a type of yodeling. Rimes sang a song called "Cowboy's sweetheart" in which she yodeled quite well.
She has a purity to her voice. She doesn’t need to do runs. Most artist today over use the runs. Can’t believe she was 14 yrs old here!

She also yodels extremely well in 'Cowboy's Sweetheart'! Edit- Almost forgot- her mama used to bring her up to the Waffle House in Garland when she was about 10 and she'd sing for the patrons. My neighbor was one of those lucky folks.
Another great cover of this song was performed by Haley Reinhart on American Idol in 2011 and was available on ITunes. You can still watch the performance on utube. Cheers
I'm from the south and used to yodel for fun. Joined the military and was stationed in Germany, and while I was waiting on a strassenbahn/street car, I started yodeling a song from my youth, and I didn't realize I was not alone. The three German people sitting there were very impressed. I turned a little red, but they did say they enjoy it they told me. A few years later, I went to Romania with my wife, and she told me to yodel for her family, and they were pleasantly surprised. Now I'm a hit in Resita, Romania. Go figure.
She's done some amazing covers: "Crazy" by Patsy Cline, "Unchained Melody" (her high notes are off the charts in this one!)
I close my eyes and hear Patsy Cline. One of my favorites
She also did, How do i live. She was 13 when she sang that song but started when she was 5 i believe on star search.
Another good LeeAnn song is, “Cowboy’s Sweetheart” absolutely gorgeous.
❤🎵 Great Tune !! So glad you guys are doing this one ! She was only 13 ! What a voice !!
I remember when this song first came out, everyone thought she would be the next Patsy Cline. Unfortunately she decided to head into more pop/country later on but Blue will always be an amazing debut hit and showcase of her talent. ♥️♥️
Wow what a singer just a child 13 yrs old the best voice ever
Rimes' voice. OMG. Got the looks, too.
You enjoyed the heavenly voice of Leann Rimes singing “Blue.” Her rendition of “Amazing Grace” will blow you away.
This was her first hit and it killed the record charts going on an impressive run. I was crushing so hard on her when I was 14. 1996 this song came out.
I couldn’t love this reaction more. She gets one word out and……WHAT?!?! 😂
I love you guys 😂 its a yodel lol I had the pleasure of seeing Leann in concert in Birmingham UK and she truly is awesome Blue is one of favourites
You guys are awesome. She is one of the best singers ever! Totally a modern day Patsy Cline. She won the masked singer a few years ago. Her voice is even richer now…❤️🎶
LeAnn was only 14 when she recorded this song. Amazing angelic voice.

@@williamblessitt9957 Kinda. If you find her "All that" album, the version of Blue is the earlier recording. You can tell she re-recorded it for this release, so she was 13 singing this version. You can get a sense of her growth as a singer in such a short time.
When I was teenager, I was in love with LeAnn Rimes. Her voice was so beautiful. When she started out she was a generational talent. She was on a totally different level, and was only compared to Patsy Cline.
She was only 13 years old when doing this video. Before she got famous, she sang at the Georgia State Fair right after my son sang. She was only 8 years old & man, she made everyone stop in their tracks to watch her. She's amazing! Even at 8 years old singing Unchained Melody!
Classic song, classic style, and yes, the sound is a yodel. Beautiful and a welcome addition to Female Friday. Great choice and thanks for another great reaction.
She was so young when she sang this. Powerful voice.
She, like Tanya Tucker did with Delta Dawn, topped the U.S. charts with this song at the very young age of only 13.
I love watching you two. The pleasure you get from music, as long as it’s good, is what it’s all about. BTW, here in Austin (that’s our famous Barton Springs in the pool scenes), we call that a damn good two-steppin’ song!
How Do I Live Without You is her best in my opinion, she's got an awesome powerful voice! She's the perfect singer to do a song like this, the yodeling and her voice, stunning!
I remember hearing this in the car on the way home with my wife and young son. I thought it was Patsy Cline and at the end of the song the DJ said it was a young girl by the name of Leanne Rimes. Bought the album the next day! What a voice.
Leann Rimes came out with this song in 1996 at 13 years old Beautiful!!
This put her on the map. Blew everyone away. And very young at the time. 14 years old Some say she was 13.
