Remarkably, the single was recorded when she was 11. There's an interview with her on You Tube where she explains that she recorded it as an 11 year-old, it was re-recorded for release as a single when she was 13 - but there was a mix-up with the tapes and it was the original version which ended-up being released.

50 years as a metal fan and this is one of my favorite vocals of all time. Simply beautiful whatever your taste.

Just a few years ago she won The Masked Singer and totally stumped two of the four judges. She had an amazing voice at 13 and still has one today. I love to hear her!!! Great job Beth.

Masked singer is such a dumb show

...and not just her voice, but her performance/stage-presence is so beyond her years as well!

Another great singer is Alison Krauss. I really like her cover of "When You Say Nothing At All" (official music video). Worth a listen even if you don't make a video about it :)

LeAnn does an awesome a cappella version of Amazing Grace that I have always liked.

LeAnnes voice is pure Angelic! Her voice is like warm sunshine all over your body, down into your soul. Her and Patsy Cline are in a total class of their own. Nobody has this sound and smoothness in vocal transitions. Just so much feeling and heavenly. ❤❤❤❤❤

If you weren't there at the time, you'd have no idea how she shook the music world. And she came out at a time when country was LOADED with amazing artists. Blew them all away!

One of the most underrated singers ever. Long before the Carrie Underwood there was LeAnn.

LeAnn makes Carrie sound like a dying dog. There's Lee, Ronstadt, LeAnn to name three that make it sound so easy. The voice just flows out effortlessly. All three have amazing head voices as well. Crystal clear.

I honestly think she’s so underrated. What a great artist.

The walking bass is fantastic. LeAnn still performing to adoring audiences. Great post Beth, thank you from deep in the heart of Texas.

This is a flashback to the past. My dad had this cassette when I was growing up. He always listened to it. I forgot it existed lol.

Beth, I live in Dallas, Texas and, although I didn't know Bill Mack personally, I knew many who did. You see, I came to Dallas in 1995 to take a radio job which, initially, was to be on the air from 7P-Midnight. In those early years, on the drive home, I would listen to Bill Mack on another station, 50,000 watt WBAP 820 AM, which, at night, could be heard throughout most of the lower 48 states. His show was "The Midnight Truckers' Radio Network", listened to by, well..... truckers all over the country during the wee hours. I remember listening shortly after this song first broke and hearing Bill talk about it on the radio. He was proud, as he should've been. I remember being chuffed about a good dude like Bill, a long working, regular guy from Texas, finally hitting the big time. I felt the same for LeeAnn who, by the way, grew up in Garland, Texas, just outside of Dallas. Unfortunately, Bill passed in 2020 at the age of 88. Oh, and I've said it before...I really appreciate the fact that you actually do research on the subjects of your reactions.

LeAnn Rimes as a teenage young lady professional took nearly everything on herself for her brand her company her people with families that all relied on her ( her paraphrased words ). She is so talented, skilled, amazing,...she nearly worked herself to death. I pray she's good and well after that early life supremely heavy challenge. 😊

The most amazing thing about this song was how old school it was. The song was written in 1958 but she perfumed it so well no one really cared. The fact she was only 13 I think was a huge deal.

As a middle-aged American from flyover country, I'm loving your foray into Country Music. LeAnn made it so big so young, but her voice is so much more than the yodeling. You should listen to something different like "How Do I Live" with Elton John or even her version of "Amazing Grace"

Can't wait. It was written for Patsy Cline originally but she never had the chance to record it. The writer finally decided that LeAnn was worthy to sing it.

Actually that since has been debunked the song was written in 1955 Patsy Cline was tragically killed in 1961

Would love to see your reaction to some of LeAnn's versions of Patsy Cline songs such "Crazy" and "Leavin' on Your Mind"...she evokes the spirit and qualities of Patsy's vocals but remains true to her own style...

She's still singing big time these days and she hasn't lost a thing! When she sings a medley of songs in tribute to Patsy Cline, it is 'somethin' else' and the audience loves her so much!

I saw her at a local car show in Dallas right before this song came out. I was a kid too, younger than her and thought she sounded amazing. I was an instant fan! I got to see her again years later when I was a teenager and she had a successful career. It's so fun to look back at her and bring those old memories up. What a voice!

The song blue was written by Bill Mack. He was an area DJ in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He first released the song in 1958 but it really didn’t go anywhere. So he waited until the perfect person came along, and that was LeAnn Rimes

I'm a rocker, but when I heard this song for the first time in the 90s, it stopped me dead in my tracks and ask, who is that? Needless to say, I was floored when I learned and have been a fan ever since. LeAnn has the PIPES!!

She’s actually 11 in this recording. She was 13 when it was released. I recently saw an interview with LeAnn on KZread, where she was talking about the release of “Blue”. She said her dad actually didn’t like “Blue”, and threw it in the trash. Leann was 10 at the time. She dug the song out of the garbage, learned it herself. By the time her dad returned home, she had already made the song her own by adding the yodel. Also, she said she recorded two versions of “Blue”. One when she was 11, and the other when she was 13. Leann said the wrong one was released. So, all these years the version we’ve been listening to is the one she recorded when she was 11. I’m from Tyler , TX where “Blue” was recorded at Rosewood Studios.

LeAnn will be 42 later this year. She recorded Blue in 1994, and it became a hit a year later in 1995 when she was 13. You keep mentioning "I keep forgetting how young she is here", but this was shot well into her adult years. Yes, still young relatively speaking, but not young teenager young. You can see and hear the difference in her voice by comparing the music video for this song with this video. Her voice has warmed and matured as she's gotten older. Thanks for your insight, Beth.

Happy New Year!

I first saw Ms. Leanne at the 1996 watermelon festival in Arcadia, Fl. She was singing on a flatbed trailer. I knew then that she would be a star. Love this lady.

Brenda Lee was 12 years old when she had her first hit. Tanya Tucker and Marie Osmond were also 13 years old when they had hit songs, but they didn't win a Grammy. When LeAnn first started people were saying she was the next Patsy Cline.

This is my first time watching this performance. I have watched the M/V and listened to the album version before. I like what she is wearing. She is the Golden Child. LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood released the song "How Do I Live" around the same time. You should react to both songs back to back and pick your favorite. I'll keep watching your other reactions.

The person who taught LeAnn Rimes to yodel is America’s Yodeling Queen Janet McBride and she is a very dear friend of mine.

the main reason how Leann was able to be the one to do this song was because When the Studio Producers hearing Leann sing, they basically could swear that Patsy Cline's Ghost or Her reincarnation was standing and singing right in front of them, and they were like hold on a second this is 100% a sign to finish what was spouse to happen many Years ago.

The who wrote this song wrote it for Patsy Cline but she died before being able to record it so it sat until Leanne Rhimes recorded it !!

This live performance is much better than the actual single that was released, which had way too much processing and effects on it. I even found the phone number of her father, who was her manager, and left a voice recording complaining about it.

For another 13 year old country phenom, check out Tanya Tucker's original 1972 recording of Delta Dawn.

The other day on KZread, I heard a AI of Patsy Cline singing this song, kinda neat to see how she would've sounded singing it.

Look up when she was 8 years on Star Search too.

Okay she was amazing on this cover but, her "Can't Fight The Moonlight" dance track is amazing too.

If you want to hear another song with a similar technique, check out "Lonesome Blue" by the legend Hank Williams Sr. "Country" music don't really use these classic characteristics nowadays, sadly.

Leann Rimes was such an amazing voice and talent in the 90's, then she fell off trying to go full pop in the early 2000's.

Destiny had this song frozen in time for LeAnn Rimes perfect voice matching Patsy Cline a 10 plus song .

I think you should check out "Look My Way - Helluva Boss", I think it is a phenomenal song so full of emotion and the singer has such a great control and strength to his voice.

When a female singer in the UK does a reaction channel but has never covered Sandy Denny very serious questions arise.

Lee Ann was great but I only knew that song and her in passing but then that song turned me onto what has become my favorite currently performing vocalist. I was flipping channels one day and saw this girl singing Blue on a reality show (& I didn't do reality shows) but she mesmerized me, so couldn't turn it off and 13 or so years later I still closely follow her career and if I hear or see something new from her I will literally drop whatever I am doing to check it out and am rarely disappointed and usually thrilled.
