Thanks to a stubborn roadside assistance insurance company, I was unable to help a guy who needed an off road recovery after getting stuck out in the desert. I tried to find him but was unable to do so, and ended up checking out a hidden cave from an old lava tube on the way back

Nice to see there are people out there that are willing to at least try to help someone in trouble for free. Thanks to guys like Casey!
Thank you for opening my eyes to the scam of roadside assistance. Your videos are always great and inspirational keep them coming can’t wait for the next one. Have a wonderful summer.
Cave exploration vids would be pretty cool. Also, I really appreciate how much you advocate for taking care of public lands and how you use your platform to shine a light on it.
Well said on the road clubs. Another thing. If the road club wants you to pay upfront, call around to the tow companies close to you. You will probably save money. One road club wanted to pay us $35.00 and charged the customer $250.00. Our bill was $75.00 at the time. A lot of companies charge more to private customers because the road clubs pay so bad. Also another thing right now, Fuel Deliveries. Most road clubs reimburse companies the national average per gallon. So right now with what we pay for fuel we lose over $1.00 per gallon. In California is 2 or 3 dollars per gallon loss. We pick and choose what calls we do now. If it doesn't make money we won't do it. It does make it hard on customers but we can't help if there is no money for fuel, insurance, wages and shop rent. Not to mention the cost of equipment. New wreckers similar to Casey's old one are going new for $125,000+. Decent used ones are going for anywhere from 30 to 50 thousand. Thank you for sharing your experience Casey. I hope you have a great 4th.
Hi Casey - A word of caution on moving the seat back like that. Your weight is now cantilevered back and that can cause the front floor pan mounting area to crack and fail. I'm 6'5"; ask me how I know. I reinforced the floor pan with metal and additional fasteners and a few years later all is well.
That is sad. Insurance companies are more worried about making a dollar than someone's health and well being being stuck in extreme heat. That puts someone's life in danger. And I understand it's frustrating for you when you want to go take care of someone and the red tape people say no. We need more people like you in this world.
Hey Casey, would love to see some of the great outdoors in eastern OR. I'd watch them!
I am paralyzed and I have roadside assistance policy. Now I wonder if it's any good at all for me. Thanks for the information. I think I would like to see some of you're adventurous caves and sights.
Being 6'8", I feel your pain not fitting in many standard vehicle seats... And yes, I like to see you to go caving! Nice Robby Layton cap, btw! :-)

"Fun fact this is the 2nd time I've done this cause I forgot to hit record the first time" thanks for making my day, I needed that chuckle.
Casey, I live in Clackamas county. One of my favorite things about your videos is how much your love for our state comes through in them. I also like your your "walk and talk" or "work and talk" style segments. I'm absolutely certain many of your viewers would love to see the many cool geological features in your area. Caves are always cool but also I'm sure people would really appreciate seeing the amazing view from the top of Paulina Peak and maybe a little walk through that cool obsidian flow just below it. I feel like you have done a couple of recovery videos out by the lava cast forrest but I don't recall you showing us any of the casts. If you are ever in the area of the Metolius springs or up by Smith Rock State Park it we be cool to show people those places as well. Keep up the the great videos. I enjoy your content very much.
I was on the other end of a situation like this. About ten years ago I had a Class C motorhome towing a Honda Fit with all my windsurfing stuff as a retiree from the East Coast and I picked up a bolt on my right front tire while driving on Interstate 5. After calling Good Sam's I waited several hours in the breakdown lane of a busy highway for them to find a shop to come fix my flat. I was super pissed. Maybe, back in the day this kind of service made sense, but with the world wide web at my fingertips, I found a shop nearby who was happy to come and help. They swapped my spare and plugged the flat for a reasonable price. I dumped the roadside service with some strong words for the poor lady on the other end of the phone and never looked back. Dumped AAA too. Later when we stopped at a lovely campground east of Waldport I found a local tire shop who properly repaired the tire and we went on our merry way. A similar thing happened while we were camping in White Salmon, WA, we had a slow leak found and a nice shop in Hood River who took good care of us . The internet is our friend. Roadside assistant services sure aren't!
I’d love to see the inside of the lava tube. Take the guy who is constantly getting stuck
We had an ordeal on the freeway jus inside Nebraska. Third party involved. Spotty cell service. Four hours and I called my agent and said I will call a tow company and pay them and you will reimburse me. She agreed 20 minutes later we are in the cab of the tow truck and he is telling us this third party nightmare. It is crazy.
Definitely do the caving videos! That'd be great. Anything to increase your audience will help the channel and help fund your recoveries and other stuff.
As a guy who is 6'6, I appreciate this content.
Exploring the lava tubes sounds interesting. Here in Kentucky limestone caves have stalagtites and stalagmites that make beautiful mineral formations. Seeing the ice caves sounds interesting.
Used to have roadside assistance through our insurance company in which you had to pay $50 upfront. Depending on how far you had to be towed so now we no longer use roadside assistance and are now using CAA I have so much more confidence being with them than I do any other place
You would think the people safety would be more important to the insurance companies and yes love to see more exploring on your channel
Thanks for the education on the road clubs. Will definitely change what I do in the future.
You’re a really smart man Casey and I admire what you do and that you don’t take the crap from these car clubs I don’t think it’s right I don’t think they should be allowed, but I’m so glad that you stand up for your own morals and stick to them. I’m so proud of the type of person you are and your wife must be really proud of you. You are such a caring person if they were more people like you on this earth things would be so much better thank you for being who you are.
For me Casey any time you want to go exploring I'm down for it I appreciate you taking me along and I sure hope the person that is stuck get help and I thank you for trying that's sad that insurance companies are like that even in the health department is a problem. God bless and as always be safe 👍
Thank you so much for talking about cleaning up. I was thinking about doing videos on picking up trash off the side of the road. If on April 1st everyone in America took a kitchen trash bag and walked outside and just filled that bag up over 50% of our trash would be picked up in one day.
Hey Casey, it’s super cool to see all these hidden treasures within our beautiful scenery! And that cave/collapsed lava tube… Holy Cow,Batman!! That was so awesome!! Thanks for sharing your side of the states! Love from Jersey ✌🏼
Growing up, my family of 7 took vacations and weekend trips in a pop top camper. My folks always taught us to leave the campground cleaner than when we found it. After packing up and pulling onto the road, my folks would stop, hand all of us a garbage bag and send us back to clean our campsite as well as any others nearby that needed it.
At least you tried to find him. You are a good man Casey.
Love the jeep. Will be sweet when has a hardtop on it. Much quieter. NIce. Like the videos.
As a fellow Oregonian, resident of Roseburg, I’ve adventured much of this state and it’s many different types of environments, caves always seem to be the most exciting apart from high mountain views. Been to many places that most people are unaware of around the state and like to keep them off of social media due to what has happened in the Columbia river gorge trails and here in Douglas county, the Umpqua hot springs. They have been destroyed from off trail hikers and littered with trash. It’s sad but the worst part is that they get closed off from well intentioned people. I would enjoy seeing some cool adventure stuff along with the recoveries but would recommend keeping the names of places discreet. Just my .02. Cheers!
I'm an oregon native. But in the Willamette Valley. I was at the High Desert Museum as a kid in school. And I have been in a lava tube walk. But haven't heard of ice caves in this state.
Out of all the times you folks were out and about towing in the deep forests around Oregon, I am amazed you never ran into some strange sightings of a Wendigo or a Sasquatch.
A pinned comment with a link to a cave video would be great! At least we could wish for it... @all stay safe out there!
Thanks for explaining your business vs. the KZread business. Makes a lot more sense now. Must be frustrating given the guy might be in real need and you were willing to help…..
Some cave exploring would be an interesting addition to your videos.😀🇬🇧
Yes! To cave exploration and seeing more of your beautiful state.
My 6' 5" son ordered and installed a "custom seat" in his Jeep Cherokee. The "Bolt in" adapter did NOT bolt in. NO PROBLEM! "Cut and Weld" to fit.
You should take Nate with you exploring that lava tube cave!
Thank you Casey for showing the truth about Roadside Assistance. My Son called and was told the price which was awful. After being picked up the driver gave him his card and told to call him next time. We would have saved two-thirds the price. I would love to see spelunking videos with you Casey. Thank You for asking. Have a Wonderful Day.
I'm impressed with your ability to talk and chew gum at the same time:i.e. work on a car and explain the situation to us.😁
Thank you for cleaning up public lands after asshats have dumped their trash. I live up in washington and fish alot and when I do I always bring bags and gloves and clean up the rivers or lakes I'm at. Keep up the amazing work and vids. Also some spelunking would be great!
Yep, love caving myself. Even though I am extremely claustrophobic I'll do all the tight crawls and areas you have to snake your body through without any 2nd though. The temp diff in a cave is always amazing to me, its a perfect hobby year round. Warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Heck yeah Caseys cave exploring!!! Would love to see
This is why your videos are the best on KZread. Yes, more exploring and spelunking videos. I also like that your off road recoveries are free for the daily customer. I also enjoy your honest reviews of products you purchase. Your PSA on cleaning 🧹 up dates for the areas you wheel in are really cool 😎. I’ll definitely keep watching. Enjoy your style and content. Keep up the great work. Casey, you must have one of the best jobs in the world 🌎.
Yes yes it would be wonderful to see you show some cave exploring
You have shown us some beautiful scenery, some with a story, in the past. I had suggested at one time that you might consider becoming a tour guide in your area. Anything, hiking, exploring, stopping along your route to show us interesting sights I say yes, yes. I was a tour bus driver until 2001. I toured pretty much every were in Canada and the US but missed your part of Utah. I miss the touring, so I enjoy riding along with you and seeing the sights.

Hi Casey! New subscriber here! My husband and I found your channel yesterday and you have two new Maine fans! I love what you do, your honesty and integrity has us hooked. I would love to see a video of you exploring caves and lava tubes! I'm an old lady and cant do those things anymore so yes please! I'll watch you doing them!
SpelunKing of ice cave heck yes, Love to see that or any cave... Thanks for cleaning up a part of America. Law that gives rewards to people who turn this kinda person in would be great.
Spent my 20's in this area! Loved the time I spent there and actually visited this site and Arnold Ice Cave. Lava cast forest is cool too!
Yes to ice cave exploration.. would love to see that.
Perfect example how bureaucracy are and can sometimes be highly & deadly stressful! I hate it!
Late to the watching but yes to more exploring. Love that hidden forest oasis kind of thing.
I would definitely like to see you explore the cave so yes please!
This is a problem In the industry where the auto club is not even located in country, I used to deal with these auto clubs all the time. As a consumer tho it's up to you as a st7ck person too find anouther way to get out of trouble, sometimes your best freind is "google near me", Casey you have my full respect, the cascades aren't somewhere to be out al9ne in, I used to hunt that area as a kid many years ago, and safety is often overlooked, g3tting the person out is the most important thing first. Well done bud, Btw hell9 from Alaska
Another great video 👍😎 Thanks for the Interesting information on the road side services. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there!❤️🙏
The problem is if you do it for that once they expect that price everytime, then it's costing you, and as you said it devalues everyone else, great looking cave awesome, glad you had a great time, and seeing around the cave's would be great, all the best to you and your loved ones
Cave exploration sounds cool.
You just gave a superb explanation of what the delays are when using a roadside assistance, and also why some of the responders aren't always in what I'd consider a good mood when they show up. I wish that it wasn't an 8 hour drive for me to get to the Bend area - I'd love to come help out on some of the cleanups (we don't seem to have anything like that happening here locally - which is sad)

Yes, please do some cave exploring!!!
Thank you for your video. It would be awesome to see the ice caves.
I would love to see more of the forests and spelunking as well.
It looks like you have a fun job. I always wanted a big 4x4 truck when I was younger. I still want one. Here I am 46 years later and I have never owned a 4x4. I just get to watch you and Matt have all the fun.
Yes. Ice caves would be interesting. Keep up the good work.
The customer stuck is the one that gets screwed by the RECOVER insurance people. Great content as usual and if I was out there I would certainly come help on the clean up. Its a long drive from Florida to there.
Old caves/tubes would be awesome to see
As an auto body shop owner I totally understand not devaluing one own industry. Big shops that ‘save your deductible’ and get in insurer “partner” programs are giving such backend discounts & kickbacks that it bad for the industry as a whole. This DRP(direct repair program) shops are making up that loss somewhere. I love doing post repair inspections. Whether a small local shop or the big corporate MSO(multi shop operator, like service king, Abra, gerber) I have no problem calling them out on a PRI on improper repairs that should have never happened. Shops can end up buying cars back, paying another shop to do the repair or redoing the repair. I’m not talking about a few nibs in the paint or some halo’s in the buff job, I’m talking about safety related things. Collision repair isn’t the same w ADAS and so many composite materials. Now we are called parts replacers but there is a darn good reason not to repair certain things anymore.
Thanks for the the cave exploring. Always take friends as you mentioned for safety. I would like to see that. Especially, Thanks for all the clean-up work you do!!!!!!!!!!! You are awesome and it's why I watch your channel!!!!!
I love to see more caves
The quality of your productions continues to improve with each video - love seeing the natural formations - much appreciated!
Stay hydrated, buddy.
Love your channel, content and adventures. Keep up the good fight being a great man.
And hey Casey, thank you for the services you give.
AAA has left me stranded 3x. I'll never give them another penny.
Thanks for sharing!
The best video you done in a while. Informative and pieced together well.
Thanks Casey for geology lesson along with the Jeep mods. Spelunking is a great hobby. Please show more videos of the Great Outdoors including the cleanup. Sorry you couldn't find the truck. Love your videos!
To bad " roadside assistance" thinks more about money than the well being of a person . I would enjoy watching videos of cave exploration . Have a great rest of the day , everyone !
I'd love to see you do some cave exploration as well! And thanks for all you do!
Casey I think it would very nice of you to show us some of the hidden local points of interest. I visited a relative in Colorado and he showed us things we would never of seen without a local guide. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
Yes would love to see some caves, and Ty for info on these aaa companies.
Wish there were more people like you in the world Casey. Thanks for all you do
I love how ADHD the beginning of this video is makes me feel at home
You're a good man Casey!!!
Your dealings with insurance companies sounds like my dealings as a photographer with stock agencies and art houses. "You can have this job for the great price of $XX" when in reality it is worth 100 times as much but they want their cut so they will pay nothing.
Amazing scenery out there. It’s awesome that you at least went out and tried to find the fella. The hidden forest cave looks like an area that I need to explore sometime this year, i was in Boyd cave last year and it was pretty awesome but I only went about halfway through it.
I’m happy to say that my auto insurance company(USAA) towing coverage went the extra miles to locate a towing company to take my 9,000 lb. extended Ford Transit back to the dealership after a fuel line broke. It took 3 tries to get a tow truck large enough to pick up my van at no cost to me. It’s unfortunate that insurance and other businesses that offer towing coverage are too cheap and fail to pay for the towing service when needed.

Super cool! I'd come explore that cave with you!
that happened to me a few years ago. they left me stranded on the side of the road had to have my wife come get me and bring parts out the next day and fix it my self in the dirt to get it home. Never buy the roadside assistance
Love seeing these natural phenomena, Casey. Very different to where I live in Scotland. Great work on the cleanups too. Top man!
That Hidden Forrest. Always wanted to go down into Arnold, seen some amazing pictures. Apparently they harvested the ice there for town back in the day. The building Jacksons Corner occupies was the old ice house.
Yeah man you could film some local adventures! That was a cool spot with the hidden forest and cave
yes definitly show more of this. very cool
Yes please, share your caving adventures if you would sir. Thank you in advance.
